The End of Arc 1!

Thanks so much to everyone who’s read this far!
We started this journey in mid-2019, shortly before the world went mad. 745 pages later, we’ve at last reached the end of the beginning. The journey will continue when we ring in the new year!
Until then, the gang and I will be doing something practically unheard of for the last four and a half years – resting.
Or at least, as close to resting as I can realistically get.
See you then!
Thank you for making this comic. I’ve read a lot of webcomics, and I mean a lot, but this one is for sure something special. Very rarely do I ever get such a feeling of “Yes! This is exactly what this should be!”like I do with every page of this comic. Have a good rest.
Thank you so much Red for being with us during all of this.
I will try to not go mad in the meantime.
(Also uuh no one’s here, first comment in a while)
Aurora Question #?: Repeating this here cuz it fits better ig, what’s your opinion on Arc 1 Overall?
I… have very little to compare it to. I haven’t read many webcomics, I came here because I like the way Red draws hair in her YouTube keys, and she did not disappoint. Also, since Red’s brain seems to work uncannily like mine, and she’s creating the story she wishes she had been able to read when she was a child, it’s hard for me to come up with meaningful criticism. Maybe I’ll reply to this comment once I’ve reread the whole arc in a short stretch of time. I guess… it’s… better than LFG? It doesn’t get into the weeds and lose its main story and theme, so… better?
“talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it”
But seriously? A very strong start (especially considering this entire Arc has been “the start”). I remember when I thought Kendal being born, Alinua exploding, and Erin getting possessed was the start, and now Red’s telling me that all that plus Falst, Jolon, and Gleicann, PLUS Tess, Shrike, and Zuurith, PLUUUSSSSS, Tynan, Tahraim, and Vash was the start? I am beyond impressed. It’s a wonderful balance of character-driven development, introspection, and heart-to-hearts with no small amount of plot progression weaved in. I love it. It’s my favourite webcomic and I can wait as long as necessary for more. Burnout is a killer in this industry.
I think it was really good. Not perfect (I’ve expressed that from time to time), but hugely impressive work by Red. I read every page the day it comes out and am very much looking forward to the next arc. It’s inspiring what one person can achieve with dedication and time. Wishing Red and the community here in the comments all the best for another 4 years!
Out of curiosity, what critiques do you have? I’d like to know for the sake of my own eye for media too.
Sorry, didn’t check the comments in a while
It’s nothing big, but three things have bugged me a bit:
1. Erin’s statement about Kendal when Alinua couldn’t heal him anymore, saying that his sould barrier was stopping life magic from having an effect. At least as far as I thought, the reason why chimeric mutations are possible within the lore is that life magic isn’t hindered by the soul barrier and can mutate/influence the body freely. I’ve since been confused whether life can get through the soul barrier or not.
My problem is also that there was no need for this confusion: Erin could’ve just said that Kendal was physically fine now and that that was the reason Ali couldn’t heal him anymore. He could assume that it was just Kendal’s mind/soul that needed to be ready to wake up again. Perfectly clear, no confusion caused at all, but no, Erin had to say some fancy nonsense magibabble about soul barriers.
2. Again Erin, when talking to the Void Dragon a little later. VD opens with the accurate observation that all of Erin’s safeguards were currently unavailable and Erin was also getting tired. Then they have a long-winded philosophical discussion about why VD should act in plot-convenient ways and they both completely forget his initial point. Erin makes no argument why VD shouldn’t just take over and run away the moment he falls asleep, and VD conveniently forgets about that option as well and agrees with Erin.
“So you’re no longer willing to die to foil my plans. I knew your selfishness would serve me well.” is a killer line, but in context it just makes VD look stupid. The only reason nothing worse comes of it is because Alinua wakes up before Erin falls asleep, so the scenario where VD could take over never happens. Erin conveniently didn’t need to make that argument.
3. Something more mild (and not about the content), but I’ve had serious trouble enjoying the pages 27-36 (more or less) of this chapter, because all I could think of while reading was “how could you possibly resolve everything going on right now?” A few reasons led up to that: Red made it clear in chapter 17 that she very much wants chapters to be between 30 and 40 pages when she put a chapter break in the middle of a fight scene. Then she loudly announced that chapter 22 would be the final chapter of Arc 1, implying that it would resolve the current plot threads. Lastly this chapter turned out twice as long as the others. That just really messed with me until I realized (around page 36) that this chapter would just keep going and going until it was all over.
Not the end of the world for sure, but a warning would’ve been nice and made this final chapter a lot more enjoyable.
Thank you for sharing your criticism. They challenge the storyteller to tighten their story reasoning but do not just lay blame thoughtlessly. A writer/artist might not be able to address the problem but maybe to see where they can do better in future. It is something a math major might use to help their story writing along or not.
Repeat question gets repeat answer:
I don’t think I’ve been this dedicated to any form of media ever. It’s great. And not only that, it has come with a lovely community of creative, brilliant minds to share a story with (and in my case some of my own art) as well.
If every arc from now on takes 4,5 years to complete, and there will be seven arcs in total, this story will last for 27 more years. And somehow, that thought makes me very happy. This story and this community will hopefully remain a constant in my life for those three decades.
Arc 1 has everything I want out of a fantasy story (amazing plot, wonderful character dynamics, scary villains, interesting magic system, ancient mysteries etc., etc.). But it completely lacks the element I hate the most out of the fantasy genre, the forced romance. If this were any other story, Kendalinua would have been a forgone conclusion. Arc 1 would have ended with their first dramatic kiss, and arc 2 would have begun the endless drama between them. Instead, we got great platonic dynamics, something which might become romance later between Dainix and Falst as well as Ali and Tess, and a familial love between the whole gang that makes me smile massively. I absolutely adore it.
I also adore how seen this story makes me feel. In the earlier chapters of this arc, Kendal ponders how everyone sees him as something he isn’t, and how that isolates him. Now that I reread the story with a burgeoning understanding of my own masking tendencies, as well as queerness, that part hits home in an almost brutal way. I’ve commented previously how I’m often forced out of a character’s head once the romance begins, but that hasn’t happened yet. I’m still here, and I still fully understand the goings on of the characters. It’s something I don’t think I’ve ever had before.
So in conclusion, it’s great. Just great. I love it and I have every hope that Arc 2 will be just as great.
Oof on the masking; when I realized how much of my autistic self I’d been suppressing, it was a lot to process. Sending all the virtual hugs🫂🫂🫂(also LMK if you want any reading recs, I’ve got a bunch of autistic self-advocates bookmarked)
Similar story here, not repressing outright as much as filtering, but it is related. Take some time to go without any masks oe litlel extra rules and see how you behave.it can be relieving and you might even surprise yourself. the first time I did on my 22 birthday was liberating and didn’t turn out half bad at all.
Thank you both for your kind words. I’m not in a headspace where I can stop pretending just yet, but any encouragement is much appreciated!
✨ A M A Z I N G ✨
I started this about four months ago, rocketed through, and enjoyed the whole story thoroughly. It’s so refreshingly well written compared to most long running adventure storylines, and the art is just BEAUTIFUL! Honestly my favourite story of this type that I have ever come across. Thank you so much Red, and have a good rest!
This is literally the first webcomic I’ve ever read, and I absolutely love it. A friend introduced it to me a week ago and I’ve already binged the entire thing.
As a story, Aurora has nearly everything I love: high fantasy, complex worldbuilding, an innovative magic system, mystery, character ascensions (see: “apotheosis” from the hero’s journey), character development in general, a mix of light-heartedness and serious tones, puzzle-solving, theorycrafting, playing with expectations, and high rereadability.
For Arc 1 specifically, I found it somewhat simplistic, but it was still good. I don’t really have any criticisms at the moment.
I found your comic this year and as soon as I saw this post, I was like “oh, yeah of course they’d all take December off! Having a rest month every year only makes sense.” So, as much as it would suck for us fans, being forced to deal with the ramifications of your burnout would suck even worse, and I wouldn’t mind if you made a rest period an annual thing. Also please publish this in book form when it’s done!!!
btw her pronouns are she/her in case you didn’t know
I don’t know what happened, but for some reason the layout on mobile suddenly got worse recently. It used to be pretty good, not its a bit worse. Not bad, but worse. Mainly affects tue comments really, the text is much smaller. That’s not just an issue on my end, right?
Everything looks the same for me.
I’m sorry your phone is messing you. I hope you find a work around or program improves. Unfortunately I have found my eyesight getting worst I older I get! Sympathies for unhelpful updates!
Ello! My friend introduced me to this comic a few months ago, and since then its been my new favorite story. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into this and inspiring me with your amazing artwork. See ya January!
Zerowolf hasn’t done it yet, so I’ll do it I guess.
There is no alt text.

In my defense, today’s Saturday! Also, the link was never posted to Twitter.
Red, you are incredible. For writing such an amazing story and making equally amazing art to tell it, for being able to keep that up M/W/F for four and a half years, for doing all that as well as making interesting and helpful videos at the same time. Aurora is the reason I get up on Mondays. Thank you.
We love this and we love that you gave it to us! ♡
Thank You and we wait for more!
Wow. Just wow. What a journey! Can’t wait for arc 2!
And may you rest in peace!
I found this comic through your youtube channel and I am so glad I did!
Me too!
wow the end of the beginning…745 chapters and four and a half years. how long is this thing gonna be? how long will you be working on it?? you don’t even really stay the same person for that long. how are you consistently making something like that???
THANK YOU RED WE LOVE YOU /P <333 ENJOY YOUR REST, MERRY CRISIS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
News from Red’s Tumblr, 11/25 edition:
This look behind the scenes into Red’s writing proccess.
Some Lore tidbits
The first link, labelled as “This” isn’t working for me. Would you mind sharing the url? Thanks either way!
Take 2
Okay, seems to be working now!
I’m really intrigued by that second screenshot. It looks to be saying that the Light Dragon is the mother goddess of the psychic mice, which is cool because it would confirm my theory they’re connected. I wonder what would happen if they met a Paladin.
…That was just the first arc?
Yep. And by Red’s very loose estimation there are six more to come.
She’s gonna at this for a looong time
This is the best webcomic I’ve ever read (I started reading about a year ago), good job Red and enjoy your break! 😉
I maratoned the entire series a few weeks ago, and it couldn’t be more appropriated. I don’t comment much (because most of my comments would be different ways to say “awesome, more plz”), but I NEED to use this opportunity to thank Red for the awesome comic. It brought me much joy in hard days, specially THOSE crazy days we all had a couple of years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I want all possible stories with those cinnamon rolls that I can put my hands on. But, if nothing more of Aurora is ever published, I would still be infinitely grateful for what we already get.
So, thank you , Red. And rest well for as long as you need.
YAY RED! Thank you so much for all this INCREDIBLE WRITING AMAGAD! I remember all the way back when I started reading, around Chapter 12 or so, I took a look at the nifty little dropdown menu where you can select an individual comic, and I was like “Huh. Arc 1? What does that mean?” I never thought I would see the day when that little Arc 1 at the top wouldn’t be the only one. And yes, I KNOW that’s kind of the point of having arcs, so that you can have multiple, but I’m not a person blessed with the gift of foresight, what can ya do? Anyway, It’s just incredible that you’ve made it all the way here from 2019 with no lapse in awesomeness! Take as much time off as you need, we’re rooting for you in all your other endeavors!
WOW that was long. Ehh, it’s fiiiiine. A lot needed to be said.
that was just ark 1???
The End of Arc One
Lovely work that has been done!
See you at New Years!
(ノ`⌒´)ノ┫:・┻┻
Ha, of course I catch up just in time for a break. Great work so far! I’m glad to see you have such a consistent and frequent update schedule, hope it’s not difficult for you to keep up.
Good shit Red. I’ll look forward to reading it again on my anniversary. See you then, take it easy.
But when in January 12024? ;P
Found the Kurzgesagt fan 😀
Well, yes, but that’s just a coincidence. If the year hadn’t been included I’d have cracked wise about the comic having been out since the days of Augustus instead.
Fantastic arc!!! Only question now is…When is the printed novel coming out?
cya then
Found this wonderful comic from your equally great YouTube channel ‘Overly Sarcastic Productions’ this comics a great read and you always put a smile on my face.
Jan 1 is my birthday 😀
These characters are people I want to know more about. Falst has interesting (traumatic) experience with corruption that I think Erin would study in fascination, but not necessarily with compassion. Dainix understands trauma, but hasn’t had Falst’s “literally everyone is against me” experience. They all need a week “in game” to rest up and actually talk to each other without being in mortal danger every few minutes. It’s awesome that Kendal has become self-aware enough, and outward facing enough, to thank Alinua. He finally recognizes some of the mothering care she’s been doing all his short life. I feel like Tess joined primarily to keep an eye on Erin, but cares about the others because she genuinely cares about people. Unlike Alinua, Tess is self-secure enough to care about other people but not threatened when they make their own choices. Tess hasn’t seen Kendal acting like the mental toddler he is, but has seen Erin run straight into danger. Erin knows enough to be really dangerous, but not enough to fix what he breaks.
I hope to see the Light Dragon’s apprentice again. I wonder if she has gone back into Zuurith’s city as it’s rebuilt, but I suspect not. She probably won’t find her people again, since they sealed their library. Erin would salivate over what she’s carrying.
This is one of only three webcomics I have followed so religiously. I want to know what becomes of these people; they’re real to me in the best fictional way. Rest well, Red. We’re sending you cheerful thoughts and prayers and encouragement. You’re doing good things. No rush.
I realize most commenters have come and gone, but could some of you post recommendations to read in the month of December? I recommend Darths and Droids, a webcomic about Star Wars, and PS238, a webcomic about superheroes’ children and their school.
Well, as far as comics that update consistently and that I would recommend as highly as Aurora…
– Girl Genius, a gaslamp fantasy steampunk sci fi pile of nonsense and awesome. Set in an alternate Europa defined by the mad geniuses known as Sparks, it follows the adventures of one Agatha Clay, a young woman who finds herself quickly roped into plots spanning countries and decades, pulled this way and that by forces outside her control… until she learns what she can really do, what her place is in all these schemes, and how to start pulling back.
– White Noise, an extraordinarily punk and extraordinarily queer comic about life between three realms that has a whole lot to say about the world and does a very good job saying it.
– Dumbing of Age, the singular comic I read without any element of fantasy beyond the occasional artistic liberty with physics. It’s a worthy holder of the title. It’s… deceptive in its simplicity, an ensemble cast of characters just living their lives in college. Mostly I read it for the continuing growth of one Joyce Brown, who begins as an incredibly conservative and sheltered christian, (it’s actually rather painful to see at first, admittedly, which is why I had to give it a second shot,) and slowly begins to let college change her for the better. It’s a fascinating read full of fascinatingly flawed people. Also it updates every single day, somehow, which is incredibly helpful for that dopamine hit of a new webcomic page.
CURSED PRINCESS CLUB CURSED PRINCESS CLUB CURSED— *cough, cough* that is, a different fantasy webcomic I enjoy is Cursed Princess Club, which updates on Mondays over on Webtoons. Other fantasy series I enjoy include Widdershins, Suitor Armor, 21st Century Knights, and Lore Olympus. If you’re willing to branch out into superhero, I’ve been enjoying Eleceed and Wayne Family Adventures. And if you like horror, Everything Is Fine has been quite the ride so far…
I mostly read stuff on webtoons, and one great fantasy one is Archipelago. It updates on the same schedule as Aurora. There’s also The Blind Prince, and a great scifi called Space Boy. Would highly recommend these three, they’re all really good.
Ooh, I have a few! Sorry, this might get long.
The Glass Scientists – Sage Cortugno (Updates Mondays)
“The city of London is not the safest place for mad scientists. Thirty years after the death of the infamous Dr. Frankenstein, its citizens have gotten awfully good at killing monsters, destroying laboratories, and generally wrecking anything new or strange-looking. Soon, every scientist within city limits will find themselves behind bars, unless someone can turn their luck around.
That someone is a respected gentleman and socialite—who also happens to be a scientist himself! He believes that mad science (or “rogue science,” as he prefers) could flourish in London if only it could improve its reputation in the public eye, and he plans to give it one hell of an image makeover. With the help of a ragtag group of scientists from across the globe, he plans to end the reign of fear and superstition that has held London captive for decades . . . so long as no one discovers his one little secret, a secret that could ruin him and unravel the lives of everyone he knows.
This man’s name is Dr. Henry Jekyll.” I know this is a bit long, but it explains it pretty well. Has lots of LGBTQ+ characters, and sad repressed victorians.
Phantomarine – Claire Niebergall (Updates Mondays)
“Phantomarine is a spooky-but-sweet fantasy webcomic about a ghostly princess and her perilous journey across a haunted sea, hoping to save her soul from a devious, shapeshifting death god known as the Red Tide King.
Expect all manner of maritime mysteries – monstrous sea creatures, sacred lighthouses, strange afflictions, accursed marauders, feuding gods, grand sea battles, and a heaping helping of humor in-between!” It is really creative and funny, and it has a lot of very interesting lore.
Earth 2068 – Quark (Updates Mondays and Thursdays)
“Be trans. Do crime. Fight robots. How hard could it be?
Earth, 2068 is a sci-fi webcomic about a boy from the future, when humanity lives under a dome in the ocean, who gets himself wrapped up in a plot to rob the CEO of LION Robotics, only to find out that this robbery is just one part of a bigger plan to save the world by traveling through time!” This one is a lot of fun, and the creator is probably the one of the best Aurora fanart creators!
This got a bit long, but I do highly recommend all of these!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for recommending “Darths & Droids”! I started reading it yesterday and I’m completely addicted, at this moment I’m at page 931. Thank you thank you thank you
Also: Crow Time. It’s a light hearted, funny web comic about some crows causing havoc. Highly recommend
I saw Cursed Princess Club mentioned by another commenter, and I agree it’s amazing!
Castoff by TheStarfishface is another great comic that I love with all my heart
And Toaster Dude by littlebobler and soaporsalad, The Secrets of Soulford by The Quincil, Twistwood Tales by Twistwood, Spellward Bound by DuneDeca and pretty much anything drawn by instantmiso.
(You can find all these on Webtoon, but Castoff also has its own site that I prefer to use)
Thanks for these great recommendations. My son and I are a decade of strips into Girl Genius. It’s a hoot! I so want these people to come through “okay”–however you define okay–!! It’s only December 4th… I’m glad to have others to read, too!
If you like the wholesome aspect of this comic, I highly recommend Always Human. If you like the action based wholesomeness of this comicI highly recommend Strong Female Protagonist written by Our Golden Boy Brennan Lee Mulligan and an amazing artist Molly Ostertag.
Brennan has a comic? How did I not know about this?!
Also music to go with Aurora: Mannheim Steamroller. To go with Girl Genius: Transsiberian Orchestra. To go with Darths and Droids: Anything by John Williams, but especially the fan song, “Star Wars (John Williams Is the Man)” written by Moosebutter and performed by Cory Vidal and others.
I recommend Sleepless Domain. It’s a comic about a post-apolcaliptic city that is beseiged by monsters every night. The only thing that can kill monsters is magic, and the only people who can wield magic are magical girls. It’s a super well world-built and thought-out magical girl webcomic that deconstructs what it would actually be like to spend your youthful years and risk life and limb to fight otherworldly threats, and it has a really pleasing art style (the artist changed after the third chapter, though due to spoiler reasons it feels fitting.)
It focuses on Team Alchemical, a popular team of girls who can combine their powers, and their issues. Every character feels well-built out and like an actual person, which in this fantastical setting is pretty impressive.
Red’s actually a big fan of the comic, so this is a fitting recommendation!
I’d like to add Mary Cagle’s other two webcomics, Kiwi Blitz and Let’s Speak English. The former is currently on hiatus and the latter is finished.

Wh. What. *Whaddya mean* FIRST ARC? Okay wow I was not expecting that. I am extraordinarily excited. Aurora’s one of my favorite webcomics I’ve ever read, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Thank you so much for sharing this comic, Red! You and the crew really deserve the break~
I’ve loved ‘Aurora’ from the moment I found it – searching it out when you first mentioned it on OSP. The artwork has been lush & gorgeous throughout, getting better & better – and the storyline has been excellent. Good character with believable motives whom I would love to know in ‘real’.
Add to that a wonderful community, posting fun & often thoughtful analysis – and this is my favorite web-comic.
Thank you so much for creating this amazing world, it reminds me of Avatar because of the elemental powers. Rest and do whatever you need…
red it unlikely you see this but your comic is one of the best things that has ever happened to me it has given me confidence in my own ideas so let me start writing them down it made me friends it helped me improve my own art style and let me start story of my own its helped me get up every Monday – Wednesday – Friday to see a new page so I want to thank you so take a good long break enjoy Christmas (minus the seasonal depression cause its really getting to me) and see you in January
p.s. hey wich(you know who you are lol) if you are reading this thank you so much for introducing me to this masterpiece and being a lovely friend I couldn’t ask for someone better see you tomorrow (unless you see this on Friday/saturday)
Thanks for making such a wonderful world and story.
Thank you for the wonderful story Red! I can’t wait to see what happens next year! Have a good holiday rest!
“What a comic huh.”
“Captain it’s just the first arc.”
Hi guys!
My friend was just reading through the fight with Tynan, and we were talking about VD’s star eating habits, and she said
“Man, someone should give him a Milky Way bar” XD
I love rereading with my friends (I get to see her first reactions)
this has quickly become one of my favorite webcomics. Its a trip thinking that this was only the first arc.
This is… actually wild. I can’t really believe it’s over. I started reading in 2020 (if I remember correctly), so the fact that it’s ending is crazy. Many congratulations are on order.
Arc 1 is over, arc 2 starts in january.
As another viewer with autism, i get that. I personally should have seen a problem when my own masks started forming masks, but whatever. Too late now, and great inspiration for artwork!
Firstly a question: Have you ever take off ALL of the masks at once? even if in private.
Secondly, It isn’t too late nor will it ever be to try and be genuine. moving around and interacting without the masks can be scary, but is that fear really worse than constantly having the masks on?
As someone who’s been doing work around unmasking, I was quickly reminded they’re a defense mechanism that I developed for *very good reason*. When it’s safe to unmask I do, but society (and sometimes even friends/family) tend to be hostile to autistic people. And while in some situations the backlash can simply be unpleasant, there can also be very real consequences in terms of employment and healthcare
i cant wait for arc 2
No TL;DR for this page. See you all later I guess.
I discovered this webcomic only a few months ago and I have to say, really well done. It manages to do so much with so few panels, and rarely felt bogged down. I’m excited to see what you do next.
Here are my current theories:
-The Collector is the first elemental magus
-Faust has wind magic
-Kendal is gonna pokemon collect a water and stone type so that he’ll have one of each element. (Stone = Ancient???)
I love your videos and I love your comic. Can’t wait for the new year just so I can read more <<<<33333
Thank you so much Red for this fantastic story!!! The characters, world building and art are amazing and please get some rest over the holidays!!
Good luck with finals
In a week or two it’s gonna be exactly a year since i first discovered Aurora an i am capital i Invested. Can’t wait for arc two!! In the mean time, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO MY FAVORITE CONTENT CREATOR YOU’RE AMAZING!!!
<3 Thanks for a wonderful comic
Hi, I just want to say that I love your work here and at osp. Aurora was the first webcomic I ever read and it could not have been a better experience. Enjoy your break Red it is very deserved.
I read 500 pages of this last night in 3 hours and it is now in the top five things I’ve been most invested in. I will be counting down to the new year just for this now. One of the better works of fiction I’ve ever consumed, keep it up!
Red, you are incredible. For writing such an amazing story and making equally amazing art to tell it, for being able to keep that up M/W/F for four and a half years, for doing all that as well as making interesting and helpful videos at the same time. Aurora is the reason I get up on Mondays. Thank you.
Listening to the OSPod and I just found out that the little dice looking symbol is a random button! I’m delighted
Merry Christmas to all the Aurora fans who celebrate!
Merry Christmas! 🎄
Awesome!
I’m thrilled to see the development of Ali’s and Kendal’s relationship! I love this comic, i’m so glad i get to read it.
Just binged the entire series, and I’m very glad I don’t have long to wait until it’s back. This story is *exactly* my jam and it’s awesome
Ahhh this so sweet
AAAHHHHHH just 1 more day!! i’m not freaking out, you are!
So… Red posted on Tumblr quite a while back, about having to research ships and sailing, for the trip to the sky archipelago. Given that the core society we’ve seen in the Aurora world uses early-industrial tech when it wants to, and has potentially *very* effective magic, what kind of vessel do you folks think Red has designed, to take the Floof Squad to the monastery?
Depending on how advanced the tech is, I could see anything from using wind magic to manually propel a sailboat/ship that uses wind power all the way up to some sort of quasi-motorboat using wind and water magic. I’ve got no idea, though.
Yeah, I always wondered about using wind magic to fill sails, it feels like it could be bootstrapping depending on how it’s done… altering the local weather might make more sense. Or, with fore-and-aft sails, playing around with lift might actually work.
I think it might actually be better to enchant a ship to the hilt, so the sails are half the weight they should be, the masts, spars, and frame stronger, the hull self-cleaning and unnaturally smooth, etc. etc. to give the ship an edge in natural weather conditions. Maybe allow one more course of sail: royals and skysails for everyone?
Or, like you said, a self-powered vessel, maybe with auxiliary sail, I like the idea of magical waterjets, I think all you’d need would be a sturdy pipe and a good water mage.
Only one day left!
Can you believe it guys, Arc 2, just a week away!
*day
I would be dying of embarrassment rn but the excitement is keeping me alive
One more day!
I’m still honestly in awe at the fact that arc 2 is starting.
Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!
Only 10 hours left before the second arc starts!
Only 7 hours left before the second arc starts!
backreading to find which question I left it at is always fun. 106 for future me
2 hours and 15 minutes until upload
10 minutes to upload.
5 minutes to upload!
for those who don’t see the new page (I don’t know if others are having this problem, it could just be me), go back a page and then click the button that looks like a fast-forward
I would pay hundreds for a physical copy/a book of every arc
