They discuss the whiter flash of magic
That seemed to come from Falst the ferin.
But the souls of ferin are sealed to magic,
Falst doesn’t know what was happening.
Yet Dainix’s souls is just as sealed,
But he has with fire a link.
He says, “I find it very easy to believe
That there’s more to you than you think.”
Oh, that’s very likely. Red mentioned that there are tiers? of light dragon knights. Thalia are her eyes, the champion her wings, maybe? and Falst could be the light dragon’s claws.
ooooh I like this theory a lot! bc they do all seem to have slightly different power sets even though they’re all light dragon related… much to think about
my guess is it’s got something to do with him being an ancient- ferin and ancients both can’t do magic, and I’m willing to bet that whoever went around randomly making ferin back in the day wasn’t actually doing it randomly. possibly being ancient/ferin/unable to do other kinds of magic leaves him open to light dragon powers? possibly light dragon is channeling through him to keep an eye on the void dragon? i don’t have a clear theory for the details but its gotta be connected
If the void dragon’s word is anything to go by, dragon magic doesn’t operate though normal soul channels. Likely most or all of her paladins are closed to the elements.
Yes, I think it’s practically certain that Falst is the Claws of the Light Dragon and doesn’t know it. Might be related to his mother, who was apparently an ancient (or at least not far removed from pure ancient), but I kinda wonder if it wasn’t something to do with his father, whom we know virtually nothing about.
So, Falst actually had no idea he did Light magic. Bet he (and the rest of the Floof Squad) will be surprised when that pops up again.
In the meantime, this feels like a scene cut. My money’s on Kendal and Alinua at the dock.
UPDATE TO THAT – got the relevant page AND – the first part of the speech is unknown (but surprisingly similar to VD’s), but the last part was DEFINITELY light dragon speech! Here’s the link – https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-22-37/
Maybe the first voice was his inner voice, or his dad’s? I don’t know why but I have a hunch that whatever this is, his dad was involved 😁
So much TRUTH! “…like everything else you don’t talk about” and “ultimate chosen fire-warrior thingie” might be the quotes of the week. And did you see that blush?!
*clears throat* Sooo who’s the admiral of this here armada? I’d like to sign on for a ship.
the admiral is whoever first saw them together in ONE concept sketch BEFORE dainix was ever introduced and was like “these guys. these guys should kiss.”
They have the vessel of a god, the avatar/conduit of a primordial, the elemental magus and somebody with a fire warrior chosen thing in their group. I wouldn’t be surprised in Falst case if he is also somehow special.
I mean we’re pretty sure at this point that Falst manifested the Claws of the Dragon there (in the same sense that the leader of the order is the Horns and the paladin there has the Wings). On Tumblr, Red has confirmed there are six parts of the dragon. (The other four are theorized to be fangs, tail, eyes, and breath.)
Schroedinger’s cat is a thought experiment, basically that something is both and neither of two options until you observe it, Chekhov’s gun is a trope of something that is set up early on and paid off later
Falst, you are a main character now that just went through moments of self-discovery in the process of which they all attained a power upgrade. Why on Aurora did you think you would be exempt, huh?
Did you think that “common sense” was going to cut it as a superpower? Who do you think you are, Batman?
Accept that you have awakened your hidden superpowers like a grownup damnit!
Clarificatoin because this system does not allow message editing: Falst, you are IN A GROUP of main characters that all just got power upgrades. Did you think you were exempt from that?
Can the Light dragon see through the eyes of others or their memories? IF she can do that with the paladins (via their link) then she might not have Erin killed. It may be that they get some assistance or important information after surviving the encounter with Michel.
Errm . . . just a thought, but before Erin came along, VD was stuck in a stone. Now, he’s stuck in Erin. I know he is protecting Erin because he thinks he needs him as a vessel, but what if, if Erin dies, he finds something more powerful, or worse – is just set completely loose?
Squeee! Falst has endured years of terrible anguish and now he is being forced to endure praise. Honest praise! From multiple people! It must be like delicious cookies falling onto his hungry soul.
Red… augh. I don’t know that many examples of characters written with this level of care — it’s refreshing. I don’t know… something about understanding your characters and caring about ‘em enough to let them communicate in ways that are genuine and real to them… It makes each interaction in this comic feel right. Dainix and Falst… god, Dainix pointing out to Falst that there’s more to him than he thinks, right after that entire handholding talk— this whole interaction is so funny and genuine and touching all at the same time. I dunno. This comic makes me feel things.
(We see you Falst, get loved idiot)
“Because I thought you did it on purpose and were hiding it, like everything else you don’t talk about!” OOF. Well. That’s a truth if I’ve ever heard one. And Falst knows it. He doesn’t deny it. Kudos to him for that, actually. And major respect to Dainix for that clear, direct communication cutting right to the heart of matters. That was essential to making this a miscommunication speedrun instead of a miscommunication headache.
Falst’s little “hnn” when he has no comeback is adorable and so real and relatable.
Aaaw, Falst’s blush in that last panel goes all the way to his ears. :3 Buddy’s gotta learn how to take a compliment one of these days. He’s going to get used to the idea that that people can, in fact, like him for exactly who he is. Eventually. Hopefully?
To be fair, it’s a very hard lesson to learn. I still can’t quite believe my friends actually like me and don’t just tolerate me out of pity. (abandonment issues are fun/s)
… Hold up, so, Ferin can’t use magic because of their soul barrier stuff right? Isn’t the going theory that Light Dragon’s element is the stuff that MAKES a soul barrier?
Ancients were also able to connect to the Light Dragon and use the Lady’s power, and they were closed to the elements as well. Either everyone is capable of Light Magic, or only those without pre-existing elemental links.
Adorable miscommunication that furthers plot and character development, now with 99% less soap opera stupid. Thanks, Red 😀
Also love Dainix’s little smile with “Neither can I”.
The fella from the scene at the Paladin tower called for the Septrunn, which I assume means the 7 parts of the dragon are accounted for in the Paladin ranks. That being said, there’s no reason there couldn’t be another — after all, we started with 6 elements, and now we have 7 (8?).
One thing I love about the way Red draws Falst is using pupil dilation to enhance his expression. You can see it really clearly from the close-ups of his face on panel three and the last panel, when he goes from defensive to lightly embarrassed. Also now we have a fun contrast! Voidy and Light on the same team! Certainly won’t cause problems later on.
Me, reading the comments and rereading the hand holding page: Baby is vessel for light magic?
Me, understanding the gravity: BABY IS VESSEL FOR LIGHT MAGIC??!!!

Awww!
I want a friend like Dainix.
Time for a yet another Name!
A flash, then it’s gone!
But how? Falst can’t do magic!
But maybe he’s wrong.
They discuss the whiter flash of magic
That seemed to come from Falst the ferin.
But the souls of ferin are sealed to magic,
Falst doesn’t know what was happening.
Yet Dainix’s souls is just as sealed,

…did you just rhyme magic with magic?
Listen, rhyming is hard. Sometimes you have to either make compromises or speak in other languages.
Sealed to magic- sealed so tragic. Not hard.
A ballad is an ABCB rhyme scheme. Lines one and three aren’t meant to rhyme!
I thought it was a worthy rhyme @GoodbyBallad!
Look at Falst pout :3
OOOOO first up this is SO lovely, second up I reckon Falst is somehow an unwitting light dragon channeller – thoughts, anyone?
Oh, that’s very likely. Red mentioned that there are tiers? of light dragon knights. Thalia are her eyes, the champion her wings, maybe? and Falst could be the light dragon’s claws.
ooooh I like this theory a lot! bc they do all seem to have slightly different power sets even though they’re all light dragon related… much to think about
I don’t think these are tiers. If I remember correctly, these are titles for specific paladins.
my guess is it’s got something to do with him being an ancient- ferin and ancients both can’t do magic, and I’m willing to bet that whoever went around randomly making ferin back in the day wasn’t actually doing it randomly. possibly being ancient/ferin/unable to do other kinds of magic leaves him open to light dragon powers? possibly light dragon is channeling through him to keep an eye on the void dragon? i don’t have a clear theory for the details but its gotta be connected

Might be related to his mother, who was apparently an ancient (or at least not far removed from pure ancient), but I kinda wonder if it wasn’t something to do with his father, whom we know virtually nothing about.
It’s most likely related to his father, as we’ve seen depictions of him in 1.21.34 and 1.21.35. Where he is wearing armor similar to the paladin’s.
I still have a headcanon that his mother was Lady Huracan, which would probably be linked to that
So, Falst actually had no idea he did Light magic. Bet he (and the rest of the Floof Squad) will be surprised when that pops up again.
In the meantime, this feels like a scene cut. My money’s on Kendal and Alinua at the dock.
*slides coin across the desk* Im thinking Erin
Erin: hey guys! this is my friend Terren
Falst: wait, you have friends?!?
I mean Falst had that whole convo with… someone, is he lying, or was he so close to unconsciousness that he really doesn’t remember?
About that convo – has that dialogue text popped up before? Because if so, we have a big clue as to who’s speaking to Falst there 🤔
UPDATE TO THAT – got the relevant page AND – the first part of the speech is unknown (but surprisingly similar to VD’s), but the last part was DEFINITELY light dragon speech! Here’s the link – https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-22-37/
Maybe the first voice was his inner voice, or his dad’s? I don’t know why but I have a hunch that whatever this is, his dad was involved 😁
Pretty sure that was his inner monologue based on Red’s comment, it also looks similar to Kendal’s, just a different colour.
Good observation! Thank you for sharing!
Ooooo, my bet is on Erin and Tarren – specifically, Erin being magnificently seasick and Tarren enjoying it all the more while taking notes.
Weather looking excellent. Armada holding steady, ships picking up speed since launch… onward!
HE BLUSHHHHHH 😍
yes… YES…. catboy you WILL experience emotional growth and self esteem

On Tumblr, Red has confirmed there are six parts of the dragon. (The other four are theorized to be fangs, tail, eyes, and breath.)
Red has confirmed that there are *seven* aspects of the dragon up for grabs.
And apparently the leader of the paladins is the “Bearer of Horns”, so add that to the pile
Thr very next page says that erin is outside of her sight. I think this is different.
https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-7-32/
HEARMEOUTGUYSIHAVEATHEORY
There was a bright flash, and the slime let go
Is there more to Falst than the two of them know?
Truly the Schrödinger’s Chekhov’s gun of all time.
…what?
Schroedinger’s cat is a thought experiment, basically that something is both and neither of two options until you observe it, Chekhov’s gun is a trope of something that is set up early on and paid off later
I know both of those already, I just didn’t understand how they related to the context.
I guess because we’re setting up for a payoff that is still kind of ambiguous (also Falst is a cat)
Falst, you are a main character now that just went through moments of self-discovery in the process of which they all attained a power upgrade. Why on Aurora did you think you would be exempt, huh?

Clarificatoin because this system does not allow message editing: Falst, you are IN A GROUP of main characters that all just got power upgrades. Did you think you were exempt from that?
This is gonna pay off in such a funny way when the Light Dragon asks Falst to kill Erin.
My guess is the part of him possessing Erin would just return to imprisonment at the core of the planet
Squeee! Falst has endured years of terrible anguish and now he is being forced to endure praise. Honest praise! From multiple people! It must be like delicious cookies falling onto his hungry soul.
HE’S BLUSHING IN THE LAST PANEL I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
also Erin’s totally gonna ruin this by bursting through the door any second now

BLUSH! I SEE IT!! BLUSHY!!!!
Falst is allergic to power creep; he breaks out in denial.
I love this entire sentence
If nothing else, after that cave adventure, I think Erin should start teaching him lacrima carving. So he can do all that stuff properly next time.
Falst: “If he keeps talking I’m gonna reach a realization I don’t want to reach”
“Because I thought you did it on purpose and were hiding it, like everything else you don’t talk about!” OOF. Well. That’s a truth if I’ve ever heard one. And Falst knows it. He doesn’t deny it. HES BLUSHINGGGGGGGG AHAHDHAHJAHAVSBS
… Hold up, so, Ferin can’t use magic because of their soul barrier stuff right? Isn’t the going theory that Light Dragon’s element is the stuff that MAKES a soul barrier?
Well we also don’t know about any elemantal mage paladins so that would make sense…
Ancients were also able to connect to the Light Dragon and use the Lady’s power, and they were closed to the elements as well. Either everyone is capable of Light Magic, or only those without pre-existing elemental links.
I’m wondering if use of The Lady’s power PRECLUDES other elements, like a feature of it being that it blocks everything else?
“Sorry Dainix I’m busy being in bisexual distress to talk about being the least magical person rn”
Adorable miscommunication that furthers plot and character development, now with 99% less soap opera stupid. Thanks, Red 😀

HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED THE PUPILS????? THEYRE BIGGER I SWEAR THEYRE SO HJFASDGGFEGFv
Dainix: “You see Falst I find you… *swoops in close offering a fire rose* intriguing.” *bishie sparkles and romantic Shojo background”
Falst: *blushes, makes feral cat noises, and jumps out of window again*
Dainex: “What a magnificent creature.”
I AM DYING
Yes.
There’s already enough people here screaming “GAY GAY GAY” but LOOOOOK HE’S BLUSHINGGGG

accept your fate falst. youre a Protagonist now
Just binged the entire comic again. Legendary.
SHE NEVER MISSES!!!
The blush again!!!!!!!
You know you’ve got good fantasy worldbuilding when the audience is like, “yeah, that’s magic” but the person doing it is like “nope, not magic.”
Me, reading the comments and rereading the hand holding page: Baby is vessel for light magic?
Me, understanding the gravity: BABY IS VESSEL FOR LIGHT MAGIC??!!!
Dainix, Good Friend to eternity eh?
I feel like falst like him or maybe he just wants to be good friends
