Hard to say, seeing as we haven’t seen much of their effects on a person. Cave corruption is the obvious choice, but…
Life corruption seems to cause biological mutation and cancer-like symptoms. I would guess that lighting corruption would cause something like a neuromuscular degenerative disorder, since it can also can cause paralysis, and maybe water corruption could cause a cystic fibrosis-like condition, since the bosy would overproduce fluids.
Stone corruption would maybe affect your bones; perhaps they would grow too large and destroy other body tissues? Air corruption might be like severe Covid-19 symptoms (difficulty breathing, etc.). And fire corruption would probably involve fevers and/or spontaneous combustion.
Or perhaps I’m overthinking this, and elemental corruption just turns you into that element.
Don’t sweat the small details @veggiesnake one misspelled word does not take away from your well thought through ideas (and @Rene too, with honorable mention to @Random for good detail observation!) (and for @Question cave corruption looks the most beastly to me).
Oh wow, that’s incredible and terrible. Yes, we can definitely call THAT ‘stone corruption’. But on the other hand, since cave corruption and stone corruption often occur together, Cave Crawlers might be so elongated and bony because of stone- rather than cave-corruption.
From what I understand cave corruption is from the void dragon and it reduces people to hunger, to fill the void, rather than turning them into void energy. So it adds up.
Also summary of the information from page 1.4.3
Elemental corruption is in the soul and creates imbalance in the body’s elemental make up, that causes gradual physical and mental deterioration. It can be treated but if not becomes chronic and creates lifelong complications. It is deadly in large enough amounts, like is found in the storm. (In the storm?) even magically resistance souls get affected.
The illusion kind of looks like someone turning to fire but I assume it is supposed to represent the soul not the body.
Answer to the original question: everything Cave/Stone corruption related wins for most disturbing
Cave Corruption, for one reason: the other forms of corruption can be treated and potentially cured if caught early. Cave Corruption can’t be cured. There are no void mages who could cleanse the corruption from your soul.
I guess this question/response is turning into “what do you think elemental corruption aside from void corruption looks like”, but I’d like to throw my theory in the ring: Partially this is also a reply to @veggiesnake, I think your theories are well thought out and sound, but I suspect corruption is less bound to real-life ailments. Life corruption causes mutation, but I think it may be more like chimeric mutations than cancer; void mutation causes endless hunger but also extended limbs and giant claws. Stone corruption I’d guess might cause depression or lethargy, since Stone-influenced races are said to be a bit more sedentary and set in their ways, but it might also involve stone plates growing in the skin or appendages crumbling into dust. Since cave crawlers have giant claws and fangs and greyer skin and the void dragon is A DRAGON, my crack theory is elemental corruption might involve one’s body starting to somewhat resemble the Primordial one is infected with, which would be QUITE interesting (especially for unethical magic scientists interested in information about the Primordials) if it ended up being true. And potentially quite freaky – Life is already pretty scary when she’s made out of green energy, imagine a fleshy meat body stretching itself to her image.
To answer the actual question, I think I’m gonna give the cop out answer and say void corruption. Not only because it’s the only one we’ve seen in detail, but also because it’s the only one that isn’t treatable.
I really enjoy this theory, that the elemental energies want to look like their primordial. Like how chimera/life corrupted things mutate, and might end up with extra eyes and limbs, just like life primordial. Definitely I would guess that there are internal changes too, though. Like someone fire-corrupted might physically fade or get a little blurry/ragged around the edges (basing this off of fire-demon Dainix as looking similar to fire primordial) but also more emotionally volatile, quicker to get angry but also impulsive, mentally burning out or burning up very quickly. And this is really just an idea, but I would think that mental changes would come before the physical ones?
I can feel Falst’s ego swelling even as we type (since we are on-line) (Falst reminds me of Eliot the retrieval expert from Leverage- quietly hating violence why using his special-op training to ‘gently’ handle violent people [and break their guns])
I LOVE THIS PAGE!! so dynamic, love The dynamic between the boys. im a massive fan of falst in combat, he really diversifies the fighting style of the existing group – curious what dainix will be like with more of a spotlight :3 yaaaaaaaay
Okay, so we’re all in agreement that Falst’s parents were either killed by or became cave crawlers, right?
Also, ew, those claws are gross. I hope Dainix’s Seared Spider Dish distracts them for long enough to run away.
Oh yeah, I agree with this theory. He clearly has SOME traumatic history with them, given his reaction to them, and “parents got eaten/transformed” is definitely looking the most likely rn. And with the Ancient text in panel 1 of 1.15.1 and how this bunker has been reacting to him, I’d wager that experience had something to with the Ancients too (whether they all got trapped in a bunker, or were of Ancient descent. Or both!)
I am alternating between “Damn Falst, that move was so cool!” and “Why couldn’t you have used your other arm?! We just finished bandaging it like five minutes ago”
Kind of reminds me of how Dainix attacked Falst when they first landed in the dark, with Falst acting led on by a bit of trauma/fear from the Cave Crawlers.
Hey, don’t you dare judge him! Are YOU an expert on broken arms?! He’s had TONS of broken arms before, and always exacerbated the wound at least a little, and he was totally fine* in the end! Surely one more horribly mangled arm won’t make a difference!
…yeah well your FACE is a ‘repeated trauma’. Shut up.
aaaaaaAAAaAAAAAhhHHhHhh bug-things… so many appendages… too many appendages… aaaaahhhhhhhhhh…
I’m sorry I have an unreasonable fear of many-legged insects and that last panel was a little too much
I really appreciate Dainix gauging Falst’s reaction and immediately Understands. They have such a good dynamic. I can’t wait to see them interact more in non-life threatening situations
He’s fought cave crawlers before??
He had a life before the comic
Yeah.
I know that
Sure, he fought one while Dainix was uncounscious
Aurora Question #58: Out of all forms of elemental corruption, which one is by far the worst
Hard to say, seeing as we haven’t seen much of their effects on a person. Cave corruption is the obvious choice, but…

*body, not “bosy”
Don’t sweat the small details @veggiesnake one misspelled word does not take away from your well thought through ideas (and @Rene too, with honorable mention to @Random for good detail observation!) (and for @Question cave corruption looks the most beastly to me).
For stone corruption, look up “fibrodisplasia osificante progresiva.” THAT might be a better fit than bones growing big.
Oh wow, that’s incredible and terrible. Yes, we can definitely call THAT ‘stone corruption’. But on the other hand, since cave corruption and stone corruption often occur together, Cave Crawlers might be so elongated and bony because of stone- rather than cave-corruption.

I’m going to say water corruption because I’m just imagining a water balloon overflowing till it pops
probably cave/void and life
That looks like it hurt for all parties
Except Falst
I’d say it hurt for Falst as well since he grabbed that thing with his wounded arm
That’s our Falst, more macho bravo than good sense for any One person…
METHINKS IT’S FIGHT SCENE TIME
Won’t be doing predictions these next few pages and might stop altogether since there’s not a lot I can effectively predict
I really hope we get to see some cool choreography (and I live for Falst kicking Dainix out of danger)
noo that was supposed to eb a comment in the main section idk how it got up here– anywaysss
oh no this is only more evidence for the mom theory
For mobile readers.

bonk !
Yay, more of Falst and Dainix!

That or the “ssstarving” really upset him
MOM THEORY IM CALLING IT
Pardon my obnoxiousness
rip Dainix’s spine
There once was a lion-like cat
Who used his foot to bat
His friend away.
In an impressive display,
The crawler he grabbed went “Splat!”
Falst is such a badass I love him.
I love this scene so much! They really do work well together and Falst is there again, being the hero.
I don’t CARE that your arm is bandaged, Falst. STOP USING IT
Hey, don’t you dare judge him!
Shut up.
FALST STOP USING YOUR BROKEN ARM
ow that had to hurt
You really have to go for his ribs like that Falst? You could’ve gone shoulder.
TL;DR: Kicking your butt to save it. Vote Catboy, 2023.
“I’ve been pleasantly surprised before.” *gets unpleasantly surprised*
Huh. Dainix seems to have spare string for his crossbow, because it’s restrung and loaded in panel 6.
And panel 1 too!
I’m sure he had plenty of time between panels these last few pages to re-string it. And carrying a spare string just seems like good sense.
Storing it loaded is really bad for the crossbow
Dainix can practically see the red neon warning sign overlaid over Falst’s face in panel 3, saying “WARNING: PTSD TRIGGERED. DO NOT ENGAGE.”
aaaaaaAAAaAAAAAhhHHhHhh bug-things… so many appendages… too many appendages… aaaaahhhhhhhhhh…

Oooo ✨trauma✨
Why are all the crossbows so little?
Stop using your hurt arm, Falst!!!
You KNOW he can’t!
Aurora? Cave-crawlers? An ancient mysterious world full of hostile life? Is this Subnautica?
Oh damn. you are right. . . I don’t know if I like this or not.
