If she’s as fast as the lightning she rides on, it would be around 224,000 mph, 360,500 kph, or 100,140 m/s. There may be some resistance since that’s probably not the path of least resistance, but I’d be surprised if lightning was slow in this world.
Metal Lady: Aha! A Shape! A mysterious Shape! A sinister Shape! A Shape fraught with…. with… shape-ness. It must be a plot element, otherwise there’d be a better label.
You fool Tynan! Making the backgrounds dark and neutral only makes Punchy Metal Lady’s lightning and character design shine brighter.
I get the feeling PML is about to find out that Burrower Wyrm wasn’t the greatest threat to that Ignan settlement.
You fool! You fell for one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which: never steal the soul of a god with protagonisty gumption, but only slightly less well-known is this: never make the background dark and neutral when a Punchy Metal Lightning Lady is your opponent!
If that were the case, a god would be able to manufacture armies on a huge scale. There must be a limit to how many vessels Tynan can build and inhabit.
According to the extra lore on Vash’s Sword Tynan could reform his incarnation over and over again, being made of ephemeral lightning, wind and water. She could punch a hole in his incarnation but he can reform so quickly and easily that it’s barely an inconvenience.
So, weird and unrelated question, but… How do we all view ‘Mage Synonyms and Gendered Magicians’?
I need to explain that better; for example, are the terms ‘Witch’ and ‘Wizard’ synonymous except for the gender, as in Harry Potter, or is there more to them? (I think the latter). Can there be male witches and female wizards? (I think so). Is there any point in the term ‘sorceress’ if it’s literally just a female ‘sorcerer’? (I think not). What do you all think?
My point is that I don’t like gendered terms like actress and actor, especially when they mean exactly the same thing, and I’m interested in what you think distinguishes different types of spellcasters, or magic-users.
I just use the gender-neutral “mages”; the D&D-esque distinction between different types of magic users (wizards, sorcerers, clerics, etc.) has never really vibed with me.
That’s fair. I like to think of them like doctors. They’re all mages, but they do different things. Just as there are surgeons, general practitioners, specialists, there are sorcerors, wizards, elementalists. Some of them aren’t even ‘doctors’ in the medical sense, but academics. Similarly, there are ‘mages’ who might not be thought of as conventional mages, like Oracles or alchemists.
I find in most fiction I read that they sometimes can be applied to both genders, with witches being either explicitly evil or just very fantastical medicine people in small, less developed places, with witch being an insult elsewhere. Wizards, on the other hand, are more often like this world’s mages, mostly science related, big city people who use magic for battle, showing off, etc, as well as some medicinal purposes.
My fictional world doesn’t have human magic users. It only has fairies. The one human magic user is called a hermit, no gender specification. I honestly didn’t think about this before, because my characters never need these terms
I only did it because I didn’t have a proper seedling trays. When I finally got one of those trays, a few failed seeds rotted and infected the whole thing with mold. The survivors were immediately removed. Ice cube tray it is.
Considering the fact that I live right next to a temperate rainforest, I love plants in the wild; considering the fact that everyone in my family kills damn near every house plant we get… they should probably stay in the wild
My grandmother has a hard time with plants and we joke about her being a plant murderer, however even she learned to keep some things alive more than a week.
I too love wild plants. I fenced the last wild patch of my backyard to protect the one albino slipper orchid, its friends, and a bazillion violets with all sorts of odd mutations. I keep track of them and well… One day I hope get a job in botany.
I love plants. I love them to death. In fact, I’ve managed to kill every plant I’ve ever cared for within a few months. Just gotta keep trying with succulents, I guess.
I love plants! I don’t like them brushing against me though (sensory processing difficulties, woo). I want plants in my house but my mom keeps accidentally killing plants. I plan to get a succulent soon, though.
Oh, here’s a story about a plant! In nursery school, we had some project that required taking home and caring for lima bean plants. We managed to keep ours alive for quite some time, but our upstairs neighbor decided to do some DIY plumbing without turning off the water. Needless to say, our apartment got flooded and it killed the lima bean plant. Truly sad.
I went on vacation to see my grandparents in DC. My mom overlooked a poor baby plant and it died. Right when it was growing it’s first mature leaves! MOM!!
My dear brother has brought me flowers a lot of times from the places where they sell them. (I got a Gerbera once, it was a beautiful red one.) But apparently, I’m terrible at caring for mere flowers because, though I went and watered them every day, places them in a sunny spot and all, they DIED!
It’s alright. I’m only good with cacti (not succulents), orchids, and carnivorous plants: super dry, super wet, and even wetter. I’m extremely horrible with household foliage plants. Ask my mum’s Australian finger lime- oh wait, it’s mostly dead.
Also, more stories are never a bother for me. I can hold long phone calls with friends in which we both blab our stories to each other and comment. 2+ hours, highly recommended. Laughter abounds.
Point is, I’d be happy to hear more. I myself am a culprit of spamming the comments with my story.
I like plants! I have three in my dorm right now, plus I’m going to be making a moss terrarium! My sister likes them even more than I do, she probably has 10 in her room
I just planted some annual flowers to practice my gardening skills; Morning Glory, Love-in-a-Mist, Larkspur, and Hungarian Blue Poppy. Hopefully these will at least sprout!
H E R ?!?!?!?

Love the discworld game quote. Completed it this year.
TL;DR: Dear little miss lightning- there is always a bigger storm cloud.
The bigger they are the more of them there is to punch
I’ll ask you this- how does one punch a cloud?
By punching it, you can punch air after all.
But would it inflict any noticeable damage?
She can still harm Tynan’s incarnation. You can’t stab the City of Vash, but you could stab Vash/Kendal himself.
But then he can just make another, no?
If that were the case, a god would be able to manufacture armies on a huge scale. There must be a limit to how many vessels Tynan can build and inhabit.
Perhaps one at a time, but they are replaceable when one is destroyed?
According to the extra lore on Vash’s Sword Tynan could reform his incarnation over and over again, being made of ephemeral lightning, wind and water. She could punch a hole in his incarnation but he can reform so quickly and easily that it’s barely an inconvenience.
That means that for once, lightning lady has come across something she can’t just solve by giving it a big ol’ thwack in the face.
TESS!!!

All magic users in my stories are called “witches”. No gender specifications.
I also find gendered terms uncomfortable because I’m nonbinary- I don’t know which to use.
I just use the gender-neutral “mages”; the D&D-esque distinction between different types of magic users (wizards, sorcerers, clerics, etc.) has never really vibed with me.

Weird question, but have you read the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett?

Wooo lightning punchy lady, 😀
Unrelated question: who here likes plants?
Yes! I love plants! About half my desk is covered in potted succulents and some little seedlings!
I grow dragon fruit seedlings in ice cube trays. I tried pomegranates the same way but they are finicky pains to grow.
Oh wow, I didn’t know you could do that!
I only did it because I didn’t have a proper seedling trays. When I finally got one of those trays, a few failed seeds rotted and infected the whole thing with mold. The survivors were immediately removed. Ice cube tray it is.

I like plants but I can’t keep them alive inside so I have to keep a garden outside in our raised beds.
I love plants. I love them to death. In fact, I’ve managed to kill every plant I’ve ever cared for within a few months. Just gotta keep trying with succulents, I guess.
This sounds like my short affair with butterworts. Keep trying. One day one of them will not succumb to browning heart disease.

Oops autocorrect. I meant “mum” and “its” but hey.
It’s alright :>
So…are you truly interested in hearing what happens next? Because I feel like I’m really being a bother.
My dear brother has brought me flowers a lot of times from the places where they sell them. (I got a Gerbera once, it was a beautiful red one.) But apparently, I’m terrible at caring for mere flowers because, though I went and watered them every day, places them in a sunny spot and all, they DIED!
RIP my dear Red (gerbera)

What is that, you ask? A narrative foil (or a gigantic power source, depending on how you see it)
It’s a genocidal cloud. But don’t worry, punchy metal lady! You can punch ANYTHING!
Is that a Lichtenberg figure I spy on this person’s upper arm/shoulder?
There is some on her neck too.
Cumulonimbus.
Hey random strangers on the Internet, would you mind reading one of my stories?
why not! 😀
If you don’t mind sharing!
uh, yes. Why is that even a question?

Noooooooooo!!! I’m all caught up.
That was a good 4 hours. Will be looking forward to a new webcomic to read.

If she ends up as the fifth member of out (probably) five man band i think she will be the “big guy”. Even Kendal can’t one punch a dragon!
Whats with the cracks in Metal Girls shoulder? Red, I’m curious, please explain.
