Falst is just a guy. A durable guy, but just a guy nonetheless. His main strength comes from how easily he recovers. Kendal is physically a god. He is stronger than any mortal and just as tough. Think back. Throughout the whole comic, how often did Kendal break a bone?
Not gonna lie, soon as the page loaded in and before I read the dialogue, my first knee-jerk thought was that Falst had panic-unlocked the ability to turn into an Enormous F* You Dragon (TM). Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy

I do wonder what Falst is planning to do with that sword… Hazarding a guess he’s too smart to try to fight the paladins head-on or take them down himself. Very intrigued to see where this is going.
I’ve waited long enough and this seems relevant enough, so I’m going to put my theory down here. I think Tess actually does have a connection to Light. Remember how Tess was Unsparked and then Chosen by the Sky? It seems similar to how The Lady gave the first Elves, Humans, and Ancients consciousness in the first few pages of the comic. Since Tess gained her consciousness in an unconventional way, it would make sense for to also have a special connection to Light.
I think dragon eggs canonically absorb ambient element energy, which is why there are so many types of dragon despite their only being the one “””””””species””””””” (massive air-quotes). So yes, there is a type classification, ala pokemon
My guess as to falst’s plan is to hitchhike on to the dragon, break Kendall’s bonds, then fight the the dragon, preferably without Stefan being involved.
I’m sorry to be the deliverer of bad news, but it seems like the next chapter will be the HEIST trope. They will need to break Kendal out. Kendal might have had a chance of escape himself, if Red hadn’t just posted a trope talk on heists.

oh god damn it i hate being right about an author making a decision to torture us in a way I would totally have taken the opportunity to do in their position of absolute narrative power (bc stakes are cool, and the damsel in distress trope is the best, and making your audience cry is way too much fun to just pass up).
The good news is, Kendal does not at all need to hold back on his escape attempt because of complex political reasons.
The bad news is, literally everything else (including the arm, and the sword, and the being air lifted by dragon to a location presumably heavily secured by ppl who just so happen to have the power to pop your joints like bubble wrap if you get too uppity (and might possibly be down with CIA levels of cruel “interrogation techniques” given that they’re so used to getting their way on account of the whole ‘reading minds’ thing))
oh crap i just realised that Falst is definitely reckless enough to tag along for an impromptu prison break, or risk jumping at Kendal and Stefan to try and tear him out on his own

I love how Tess casually trusts Falst on this page. “if you have a plan-oh, guess you do! seeya!” I really want to see the two of them talk properly, I think she’d have a lot of great advice for him and generally help him work through the trauma he’s faced without pushing him. her general hands-off approach to stuff is just what he needs to feel more comfortable, imo.
