Honestly, I’d take a good night’s sleep even without therapy ghosts.
Remember the first time Kendal had to sleep? They’ve come so far
I hoe that this conversation (and drop dead gorgeous view) continues for a few pages, but somehow it seems like all that needed to be said was said. that’s a gift for concision.
You know that superpower that certain Ghibli protagonists have, when their hair just starts waving in a breeze because they’re upset? Even though they’re indoors?
Personal wind? Yeah, I think Kurosawa actually invented it. He had a bunch of fans powered by WW2 military airplane engines, and reportedly he looved deploying them. That’s why so much of the dialogue in his films was recorded in post.
There’s a character somewhere who is a magical entity. She has personal wind that blows when she is angry or first appears before someone – but she hates it because it blows in her mouth and she thinks it’s too over-dramatic. She also breaks the fourth wall by wishing she wasn’t written in a way that the author knows will irritate her 😁
Re: the author comment: never realized that was in the overlap of the Kendal – Harrowhark Nonagesimus venn diagram but it makes sense! (Man, there’s an AU concept…)

i really like the idea that Alinua’s eating better, cuz she used to have super sharp cheekbones that made her look more sunken, but now they’re way more subtle, idk if thats just art progression or an actual story beat, but its awesome either way
I think she’s just generally been in a better place since her introduction. Yes, she’s eating better, because she’s not alone (meaning Falst or Dainix can hunt for meat) and she’s gained access to more variety of plants. She’s also mentally better because she’s realized and accepted that she’s not a ticking Chimera bomb waiting to go off, she’s not alone anymore, and she’s got something to do beyond waiting for her magic to consume her and explode.
This all culminates in a healthier Alinua whose body is starting to show signs of not being in constant on-edge mode.
Alinua: I bet they let you keep your pants.
Kendal: … You’ve been making some strange comments lately.
It took three ghosts to make Scrooge change his ways, and it took an entire cities worth to change Kendal’s. There does seem to be a lighter air around him and his interactions with Argist and Falst, how this may change when he hears of the potential delay and solution to their trip to Helm remains to be seen.
This makes me wonder how much Alinua has shared her own godly dreams with anyone. I’m betting not much, if any; Alinua’s rarely revealed elements of herself or her past unless they were relevant or really bothered her. I’m not sure how much Kendal can help anyways; her dreams with Life are very different from Kendal’s in tone, purpose, and communication.
While Kendal is dealing with ghosts who completely understand what went down, Alinua is dealing with a being who is struggling to adapt as much as Alinua is. If I may be so bold to speculate.
Love it when my once a month midnight Aurora binge culminates with a fresh page… so that I don’t have to lay awake in bed wondering if Red has posted while I wasn’t checking.
I’m sorry about this, I really am… but I can’t stop wondering if, along with being given permission to be happy, he also found out that along with needing to sleep, his body also needs to, uh…
…do something else, that would make him *physically* lighter.
For some reason it didn’t occur to me that Kendal’s whole character development coma wasn’t known by the rest of the group, and now that its been brought up I wonder who else will have a conversation like this, everyone was having some sort of individual adventure. Do the others know that an ancient robot tried to kidnap Falst, do any of them know what the chamber with the Glort in it was about or that Falst performed magic or the conversations that Alinua and Erin had with there respective primordials.
A lot happened in the last few chapters and I wanna see how characters will react when they hear about it. everyone was doing something on their own and during all of it Tess was taking care of things while reading a book and I’d like her to know whats going on.
