This is pure gold, although I still think Erin’s ego is largely masking, considering how he treats people he knows he can trust and let himself care about.
Fellow Reader’ if Red wanted likes she would have put this on Facebook. Red wants comments (and perhaps a little recognition). I say (or at least type) give her what she wants to keep her doing this webcomic!
Is she possessing multiple things at once? She says ‘spread thin’, so is she possessing this dragon, watching the archive, looking at the paladin and who knows what else, all at the same time?
Do you think this is similar to how gods posses a vessel, but instead of a vessel being created its going through other beings. Has their been an explanation on how Life, Voidy, and the Light dragon “posses” their vessel? Maybe something to do with mortals having an aspect or element of them in them?
In the middle right panel the person says “So you need not shatter yourself fighting alone.” which sounds to me like the light dragon split itself up into many pieces, which would also match the “spread thin” part.
It may also be a facet of the Light Dragon’s nature. V.D.’s element is consumption, taking other things and incorporating them into oneself; if L.D. is his opposite, maybe her nature is about incorporating herself into other things. That may even be what we saw back in the second page of the prologue.
She may not be able to fight V.D. one-on-one because her nature prevents her from concentrating herself into one being, and needs the Paladins to act for her in many situations.
That is interesting, Its notable in the creation of the world the light dragon is never mentioned as having fought herself, just the primordials and her first act in the series is awakening human’s consciousnesses. I sorta doubt that its in her essence to split herself up, the dragon is her true name so she can exert her influence over that, and the humans and ancients before them seem to have had to train hard to establish a connection with her, but it is interesting to question what abilities she has, considering the void dragon seems much more overtly powerful.
I don’t think Voidy is really more powerful; I think he’s more bossy and less caring about the survival of those around his vessel. He’s consuming, after all, while I think Light would be building, empowering, rather than tearing down.
Alternatively, The Lady is just “stretched thin” the same way people are stretched thing when they have a pressing need to save the world. The Paladins are clearly a poetic sort. Stefan might mean “shatter” as a fancy way of saying “burnout”.
And to be fair, she’s currently possessing this dragon, guiding the Champion and Theia individually, and whatever else she does in the background, like embodying the collective soul energy of the universe (or something).
“And one who bears my eyes has seen the vessel’s face”
*mentally going through every character who has seen Erin*
That took me a good few seconds longer than it should have to remember 😅
I guess that means it’s time to refresh my memory and reread everything – oh well 😁
is it just me or might stefan be erin’s dad because they look similar and erin hasnt seen his dad in ages and that feels like something red would do for the drama
Just the impossible eight primordial that shouldn’t exist, but possible permeates everything and everyone. A being old as time and equal/opposite of eternal withering. Nothing much.
So the last 4 years essentially took 8 days, I wonder how fast these guys will have to move in order to get to Erin and friends within this year’s 2 assigned days? Also considering Erin’s been to this continent before to visit the monks I wonder if he’ll recognise him. I assume he knows about the storm being a trap considering the lady’s champion did and how it would be the elemental magus who would have to spring it?
The 8 days are just from when Erin became possessed by the void dragon, They don’t include the day Vash was destroyed and Kendal was created, The day Kendal met Alinua, or the days it took them to travel to Windcrest. Basically the first 4 chapters.
I mean I guess Ferin are resilient to the elements. They knew the storm was a trap of some sort and they don’t seem to have been keeping a particular eye on the elemental maguses, though perhaps they’re just hard to track and Erin’s not particularly well known outside of the academy. Plus they know that Erin has moved, but don’t seem to find it odd he hasn’t gone into the caves, perhaps they don’t know that walter is trying to free himself and think he just wants to cause mishief as a cat boy? I mean I suspect that these guys are just too busy dealing with cave crawlers and Walter’s other messes that they just didn’t have enough time to figure out what if any plan he had.
I mean, they specifically figured this out from Theia seeing Erin throw around void during the Tynan fight, which was very flashy and kind of hard to mistake for Falst doing something! Would have been funny though, yeah.
Eh, she was all the way on the mountain slope above the fight and Erin was covered in black goo.
Short, scrawny guy with comparatively short hair wearing a purple cape (which Falst was also doing at the library)… that could really be anyone!
A little more damning for Erin that he then started throwing around all the other elements against Dainix…
(I do believe she realizes it was Erin, but it’s a funny thought)
I wonder if the paladins know about the Void Dragon’s “I need an elemental magus to be my vessel” thing. If so, have they been keeping an eye on various elemental magi throughout the ages? Have they been watching Erin since he was declared the elemental magi?
Well recently was the storm which was a few thousand years ago, Walter said so himself the storm existed to ward off anyone but the elemental magus so he could control someone capable of wielding the elements and releasing him. Back when she was communicating with her champion she referred to the storm as the “trap long prepared”. So they know that much at least, perhaps they didn’t intuit that it was meant for the elemental magus?
Oh, good point, I forgot about that. I feel like they could figure out that the trap was meant for an elemental magus, since the storm was impassible for anyone else. They might not have the resources to keep an eye on the elemental magus, though, or they might not have even known that Erin was one. When Erin first explained himself to Kendal, Kendal didn’t know there was a new elemental magus, and considering that Kendal had all of Vash’s intel to draw upon, this likely means that the new elemental magus was not known in Vash the city. But he was also recognized as such by Jolon, though that could be because Jolon had studied in the mage academy. I guess maybe they didn’t know that there was a new one, since it doesn’t seem to be super widespread information.
There once was a Lady of Light
Who feared for the whole world’s plight
Lest all be destroyed
By the vessel of Void–
She needs him to be her white knight.
So far I’m liking both Lord Stefan and the Light Dragon… and the design of the dragon she’s possessing! Also an interesting bit of insight into how she works and her limits. Spreading herself thin, hmm?
I don’t think this is a settlement like Zuurith. I think this is an independent Paladin stronghold. Red has implied that it’s huge as well, with something special that they can’t get anywhere else. There’s a reason the Sept is built here, if this even is on the way to Helm.
I doubt Erin will come here anytime soon, and certainly not willingly. He might not even know it exists.
I don’t think very, but he will be once the champion catches up to him. I have a gut feeling that there’s going to be some “talk it out” moments but that may be misplaced optimism.
No hard feelings, happens to the best of us. I do think its a bit odd that she didn’t directly communicate with him and that she flew there. I mean there is a chance her being the opposite of Walter strategy isn’t her forte or that she thinks the dragon will be useful in the upcoming battle, perhaps she needed an incarnation to be present before she could communicate in this place? Perhaps her influence isn’t planetwide, not being part of the planet herself and can only be potent in so many places at once, she did mention being stretched thin, plus Walter’s only got one incarnation himself.
Just struck me that both antagonist groups have shown reasonable communication. Shrike may not be great at listening to advice because she thinks she knows what’s what, but she also hasn’t surrounded herself with yes-men. And the Light Dragon straight-up apologizes to her servant/worshipers? That’s very much a “good guys” kind of dynamic. Makes one hope that discussion can be had, between paladins and Floof Squad, even if the tagalong non-Floof member (that is, The Void Dragon) might cause such discussions to break down.
Did reading the comments just get annoying for anyone else on mobile? It used to render text big enough to read, now I have to zoom and move across the screen as the text goes from one side to the other but it’s very small… just curious if this is just a me problem or if the admins should be notified
For mobile readers.
Alt-text: Lord Stefan speed-reads 700 pages of comic

I bet he didn’t read any alt-text, smh
That made me laugh when I read that!! Thank you!

This urgent matter

We are here to help.

Surely this won’t cause
any issues with crossing
the waters, right? Right?
Oooohhh
“Wow … he’s really smug”
“Indeed”
“And who’s his blond friend with the sword? He’s hot”
“Focus”
God I love that dragon’s design
Do you people think he’ll recognize Erin next page?
Of course he will: Stefan is in a position of authority, and Voidy’s biggest challenge is that it has to share a vessel with primordial Ego.
‘primordial ego’ is the most brilliant thing I’ve seen all week
This is pure gold, although I still think Erin’s ego is largely masking, considering how he treats people he knows he can trust and let himself care about.
this site’s lack of likes is now a tragedy
Fellow Reader’ if Red wanted likes she would have put this on Facebook. Red wants comments (and perhaps a little recognition). I say (or at least type) give her what she wants to keep her doing this webcomic!
Speaking of giving Red what she wants (and deserves), I would love to throw money at a dead tree edition of her work.
@Galadare wat’s a “dead tree edition” of someone’s work?
Paper. Hardcopy. Traditional codex form binding usually.
Is she possessing multiple things at once? She says ‘spread thin’, so is she possessing this dragon, watching the archive, looking at the paladin and who knows what else, all at the same time?

I mean, just look at the state Life is in, spread so thin across the entire planet.
The Lady in essence is spread to thin
So updates Stefan crown/Paladin

No, its a great way to re-intr0duce yourself to wonder of this art-form!

Yeah Red would probably do that
He isn’t. https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-7-3/
LADY HURACAN?????
Nah, just the Light Dragon.
Just the impossible eight primordial that shouldn’t exist, but possible permeates everything and everyone. A being old as time and equal/opposite of eternal withering. Nothing much.
Stefan getting a twink jumpscare in his magic vision
Who is the jumpscare?
So the way he “bears her horns” is through this discoloration pattern on his hair and skin?
While I really like this idea, if you look at the cover of this chapter it looks like he gets floating horns made out of light.
I mean . . . why not both?
Dude I wish I could speed learn info like that. College would be so much easier

Indeed, however Chapter 5 started during December 2019, making it four years ago and thus 2 days per year.
Please tell me they just got it wrong and it’s Falst, that would be hilarious. I’m not sure who would be more insulted, Falst or Erin

Likely not, I think Walter’s plan has only sprung up recently: Therefore, they couldn’t know the details.
Well recently was the storm which was a few thousand years ago, Walter said so himself the storm existed to ward off anyone but the elemental magus so he could control someone capable of wielding the elements and releasing him. Back when she was communicating with her champion she referred to the storm as the “trap long prepared”. Ooh…this, combined with the theory I’m seeing get thrown around that Stefan is Erin’s father, is a recipe for some truly PEAK drama!!!
He’s not. https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-7-3/
Ooh, this plus the theory I’m seeing get thrown around that Stefan is Erin’s father, is a recipe for some absolutely PEAK drama!

I wish the grey in my hair made me look half as awesome as Lord Stefan.
Hopefully she at least understands Erin is not a WILLING Vessel, though I doubt he’d be so lucky.
oh wait is that vitiligo 👀
Maybe fantasy magical vitiligo, but it could also be scarring, which can make hair grow back white. Not enough detail to tell what Red’s going for.
So far I’m liking both Lord Stefan and the Light Dragon… and the design of the dragon she’s possessing! Also an interesting bit of insight into how she works and her limits. Spreading herself thin, hmm?
Anonymous Aurora Question #37: How f***ed is Erin going to be once he gets to this town/city on his journey to Helm?
