Red! I love these gorgeous double updates, but please don’t burn yourself out! If you are having difficulties with your drawing schedule, there’s nothing bad in distributing these pages more evenly…
Now exactly: https://twitter.com/AuroraWebcomic/status/1266299821272363008
I’m almost sure probably drew all the panels chapter 7 in one setting, more than two months worth of pages, but I’m worried this is not the case for the incoming chapter…
huh.
So a) this dude is a paladin
and b) that dude is one of the things that got corrupted by the cave.
That means that this dude is basically part of “Cave-Crawlers B Gone”, and since cave crawlers are due to corruption with the seventh element, they might hunt down team floof because of Erin. Eventually, since Kendal is such a protagonisty-protagonist, they’ll eventually join the team after some good ‘ol fighting.
Also, another floof, so how could they not join the team?!
so hes a paladin
coolcoolcoolcool
do paladins usually have black instead of white in his eyes?
also he seems to have some sort of glowy magic? maybe lightning? wait no thats yellow…maybe its some sort of exclusive paladin ability?
Ok i can not be the only one seeing the parallels between Erin’s eyes when he’s possessed by VD and this guys eyes! Part of me wants to believe this guy is possessed by some kind of god or Primordial or like, another dragon, (Light Dragon? Full dragon? IDK what the opposite of void is tbh) since you can never have too many.
Either way, I’d say this guy or the ‘contingent of Paladins’ or whatever is going to be the next stop on the side-questing list for Floof Squad.
Also my theory he was some kind of god didn’t really hold up, but those glowing eyes are very much like Vash’s. Could be a kind of extreme emissary? Or maybe it’s just a paladin thing to channel the power and will of a god?
Still think that he represents a force of protection and noble deeds or something like that, but that’s based on what actions we’ve seen so far. But i’d love to hear what Y’all think!
Looking back on it though, it looks like he’s willingly assigning controll of his body to some kind of god or spiritual force. that would be why we see that white stuff leaking out, why his eyes are different and why his whole demeanour seems to change so quickly. But it doesn’t explain why his speech bubbles are the same, unless whoever/whatever it is he’s channelling is very much a part of him.
Maybe some kind of Assigned Guardian of the caves? Keeping the cave crawlers (if that’s what that thing is, there’s no doubt they’ve fallen to some kind of corruption, they don’t look close to anything we’ve actually seen in the caves, and those all look the same or similar to each other, this could be another form of corruption all together)
That thing was a cave crawler. Pally mentioned hunger, which is a dead giveaway for cave corruption.
Cave corruption (or rather, Void corruption) can manifest in a number of ways. As the Lore page for the Seventh Element stated, victims of cave corruption all have a common symptom of overwhelming hunger or a craving for something – generally food, but more specific cravings are also listed, e.g. bone marrow or blood. Also, the cave crawlers seen in the caves are likely just the most generic mook types.
@Mat I think it might be water corruption, the entities design makes me think of ocean creatures, although the line about hunger is definitely a point towards your theory
Perhaps the possessing force (God, Dragon, Other) had nothing to say and the host was just narrating while someone else did all the heavy lifting. Erin was able to talk while being possessed. Or perhaps it wasn’t possession, but a lend of power. VD suggested that Erin could learn to use their power himself with enough practise.
I think the change in demeanour is just the difference between “mid-mercy kill” and “addressing frightened family.”
At first I thought it was the Collector, because as far as I know, she went down to some sort of cave system in the first chapter and stayed down there ever since.
“Poor thing”
“Hisssss” [Translation]Take your pity and shove it
“Your cursed hunger has driven you to such depths. Who were you, I wonder? Before you were lost in the dark?”
“EEEEEEEEEEE” [Translation]Oh puh-leaze. I killed and ate people even before I went down there.
“They deserved better than this.”
“Glurk” [Translation]In hindsight, charging the guy with the huge-assed glowing sword was a tactical error.
So, Paladins killing those who succumb to cave corruption, makes sense that dragon would contact them when V.D. re-emerged.
Great design on this guy, eyes, powers, clothes, all very fitting for his paladin role. His powers don’t look elemental, empowered by a god maybe? Would explain his eyes changing like that.
Unimportant aside: When I see people call the Void Dragon “VD,” I think of another character fans called VD in the comment section—not because those were his initials, but because we didn’t know his name and he’s the dad of a character named Verona. Also he was an even bigger pest than the VDragon.
Gotta love thems dark scleras
Dark scleras are best~
I know, right~
ANOTHER VICTORY FOR THE FORCES OF JUSTICE

I think she draws the pages a few weeks in advance of releasing them, to give herself some cushioning
If memory holds, she’s mentioned having through like, chapter 5 done already.

Not to mention the cape. You know that red wants a character to seem important when they have a cape of some sort
I dunno Red. Losing your sanity to become basically a wendigo is a pretty unfavourable fate by most people’s standards, even arsewipes.

also, gotta love them glowy eyes also i dub thee glowy the glowing paladin
No, remember the begining? the black eyes means they’re “closed of to the elements”
Looks like the arcangle Michael, new nickname.
Of course discord
Is there an aurora Discord?
It’s on the OSP discord server.
Do you, by any chance, have the link for that?
It’s on the about page I’m p sure
He looks pretty acute to me.
He’ll only ever be Aziraphale to me.
i don’t think he has the energy for Aziraphale. Maybe his personality is mix of Aziraphale and Crowley

Plus, this demon shares some design elements with the cave crawlers; multiple rows of teeth and an enormous mouth. I wonder what it hungered for…

im not 100% sure what it means but at the very beginging they all had those eyes, remember?
Anyone else realize that the monster he kills has long black hair and green eyes. Coincidence?
Most likely.
At first I thought it was the Collector, because as far as I know, she went down to some sort of cave system in the first chapter and stayed down there ever since.
jesus is that you
Nooooooo the child has lost his shiny hair 🙁
Great story so far. But the only thing I’m struggling with so far is the scale of things.

RED STOP MAKING ME FEEL EMOTIONS!
A) So this light-god/paladin has white dragon eyes… are all of the paladins connected to dragons in some way?
B) They mentioned a contingent of paladins, implying that there are more of them than I initially thought… perhaps dozens, or even hundreds of them
Maybe Sparky-Sparky-Gold-Woman will become like… whatever he is, but for a lightning god or something.
The precedent is there. I mean, Alinua basically is this already for the Life Primordial.
Is it just me or does he look surprised by the thank you?
Anime sword huh

I love Holier Than Thou Floofs clothes. The beige and teal go really well together.
So, Paladins killing those who succumb to cave corruption, makes sense that dragon would contact them when V.D. re-emerged.

What’s a Paladin?
Why do I feel like this guy’s name should be Phoebus or something based off that?
TL;DR: Palafloof finishes the job but doesn’t treat the floofy family’s injuries. Talk about laziness.
Unimportant aside: When I see people call the Void Dragon “VD,” I think of another character fans called VD in the comment section—not because those were his initials, but because we didn’t know his name and he’s the dad of a character named Verona. Also he was an even bigger pest than the VDragon.
Is the white haired guy the light dragon?
No, probably the vessel in the same way Erin is for the black one.
alt text 1: you don’t know that, maybe they were a huge asshole
alt text 2: all in a day’s work, ma’am
this man is giving me lawful neutral vibes
The dragon man with ease it slays
But is unprepared for some praise
so this is where micheal first came to be.
