Twist, the big spiky guy is actually calling out the glowing dude for being a jerk. “Hey! Stop roughing up those floofs! They never did anything to you. You paladins are getting totally out of control.”
When your point of comparison is “dealing with a being that wants to cause the whole ass end of the world” just about anything would qualify as “more relaxing”.

I think gods are able to use magics that mortals are incapable of using, so they can stretch (or outright ignore) the established rules of mortals’ magic.
(Assuming, of course, that this glowy angel person is a god of light or something)
…I’m pretty sure Erin never had lavender-colored hair, though… and, from what we see, Erin’s father Galen had a beard and black (or very dark brown) hair; the man holding the child has neither of those features
Well this is interesting……. This new paladin dude doesn’t seem to be using any form of elemental magic, which begs the question; what are they? A god? They don’t really have much in common with the two we’ve met already and, assuming that they’re going to join the protagonists later, that whole ‘being tied to one location’ thing would be a bit of a problem. Some powerful entity previously unheard of? Who knows. If anyone has theories I would love to hear them 🙂
if i had to guess, i’d say they’re some kind of divine guardian or a god of protection or something? either way i seriously doubt they’re human or a mage in any sense, they look very ‘Angelic’ kind of ‘Christian esque’ or at least following the modern interpretation of a guardian angel or Archangel.
If i’m going to take a guess here, i’d say they’re going to be an important figure in the story, or at least to the kid we see in the first panel. Hopefully they’re a good role model.

Strange magic he seems to be using; it doesn’t seem to match anything we’ve seen before. Clean, sharp, very controlled, almost like Erin’s life magic application, but it doesn’t seem to match any element.
As for the creature, life mutation victim maybe?
