Nah he totally does, I think he’s sarcasming right back lmao. Either that, or he’s intentionally ignoring it because he’s monologuing in a moment of triumph. Little does he know that Erin definitely has something up his sleeve, if the tone in that sarcasm is anything to go off of. Then again, with Red’s extensive knowledge for tropes, this might be a double fakeout, where we get a hint from Erin that he’s about to try something, and VD totally knows and is toying with him because he knows it won’t be enough for Erin to escape. Oooh, the possibilities!!
He just called the dude with six arms and a sword and shield “Stone”, because he was the stone primordial. I guess there wasn’t really any need to be named anything else.
Let alone the lack of need or seeming simplicity in the Primordials simply being called by their associated magical ‘elements’, I think them being named by their associated elements has a stronger meaning to it than that. The Primordials don’t simply have control over Life and Stone respectively, but rather I think they embody these elements and associated ideas with every facet of their being. Life is simply called Life because every fiber of their being is aligned under the ideas and motivations of Life–no name more complicated is needed because it is the truest way to address them. On the other hand, VD didn’t seem to have a name himself–maybe way back then, names weren’t really necessary. They’re more of a human/human-adjacent concept of how to address one another.
You know what I would love? If the primordials all have secret names, kind of like egyptian gods, but no one knows so they’re just called by their elements. It’s unlikely, but it would be fun. 🙂
Omg I conjectured on earlier comments about what was gonna happen with the move Erin’s obviously about to pull but I think you’re right! There’s no doubt she’d love to get her hands on a soul like VD’s. Only question is whether she’d be able to contain it. She thoroughly trashed Vash, but Vash is obviously not the most cunning of strategists, and presumably still pales in comparison to VD. Nevertheless, I think she’s gonna make an appearance and mad respect to you for thinking of that!!
I also like this prediction, and agree with the points you add to the table! Just for fun, I’d like to add another possibility: if the theory that The Collector’s knives are infused with seventh element magic is true, she might not even be able to contain the Void Dragon at all, as he is the primordial for that element
Right?? Plus, I want to see V.D.’s reaction when the Life Primordial appears again (through Alinua, of course). But, how will our heroes free Erin? Will they have to awaken all the primordials again or something?
Ah, it seems that V.D here has committed the classic villain blunder of saying something in a monologue that could give the hero hope in a desperate situation. It happens to the best of us.
Also just a little idea, Life might in a limbo like state kind of like the Lovecraftian gods, where they’re dead but still dreaming. This could be because Life isn’t just a thing like a rock or an event like a storm , it’s a powerful, persistent force that wants to survive and will find a way to almost anywhere. Life can’t really die because well, it’s life, it’s alive. It’s probably impossible to kill a being who’s very essence is the complete opposite of death. Of course this theory does have holes, I just thought that it would be interesting to get opinions on the matter.
I think that Erin just won the world record for successfully-keeping-your-foe-monologuing-for-the-longest-time-possible. I mean, three weeks HAS to be a record.
LIFE
That’s the thing we saw!!!
This is really tying everything together so well! I can’t wait until these two primordial spirit’s talk together through Erin and Alinua, lol. Kendal, Erin and Alinua all have spirit pal buddy posing entities, they’re forming a club!
I just noticed something… the second panel seems to indicate that Erin is capable of hiding thoughts from the Void Dragon, as long as Voidy is distracted or otherwise preoccupied; in this case, by monologuing
Wouldn’t surprise me. Over the past few pages I’ve seen that if he gets distracted by any means then Erin starts doing the physical talking again. So VD having a momentary gloat about how big-brained he is would probably be more than enough for Erin to surreptitiously mumble to himself and VD not to notice.
Oh my god…. so true though. They even have the same colour scheme. I think Walter is a little less…. rambunctious though? He’s the cold kind of villain, while Bill is more chaotic.
I feel like at some point in the future of this comic, void mages are probably going to become a thing. Or Sicktats McHubris will make some new study with void magic. That’s probably only going to happen if VD dies, or has a change of heart, since I very highly doubt that VD will be too happy with people disintegrating stuff without him.
Hold on. Ancient Dragon being with two tattooed arms? Is the Void Dragon actually Something About MHW Iceborne’s SHARA ISHVALDA?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XiFiYPxEQY&feature=youtu.be&t=229
He must not be allowed to escape! He’ll create a mixtape that’ll destroy the world!
Jokes aside, amazing page. Love that panel with the illuminated tattoos, V.D. does love these new powers, I could see him going out of his way to keep them if he escapes.
Great dialogue to end the monologue, confirmation that the life primordial is indeed inside Alinua (can’t wait to see her reaction to that) and the banter between these two is a nice addition to the comic, fingers crossed we get more of it.
my favorite part about this post is that ive watched that video (havent played the game, i just like the rest of his stuff.. and dont know the rapper either lol)
this is HILARIOUS though
What if the instances of the Chimeric Plague were just Life trying to find a suitable vessel but when she funneled a part of her being into them they exploded due to the excess life magic? It would explain the natural talent of life mages with the mark and also the entity saying “FINALLY” when she got Alinua.
He seemed a bit too happy in that last panel for a guy knowing that his world was doomed because of his screwup. He’s arrogant and loves having people stoke his ego, but he’s not malicious. he likes personal agency, and he seems to like having a world to live in. I’m gonna guess he’s got some kind of plan.
In my mind his voice is the opposite, a little dreamy, high-pitched, voice that becomes rough when speaking with high emotion, using the back of the throat, when this happens
(It kinda changes going from high-pitched, smoothed, and a little dreamy when speaking normally, to rough but still high-pitched voice that sounds a little demonic when speaking in all caps or with a particularly high amount of emotion)
Can I just say I ALSO want the 3rd panel without the monologue but instead, “FINALLY all the pieces are in place” on it as a poster?
(In a previous page, I pointed out the panel where we see the primordials capturing Voidy that I want a poster of that with the quote “I do not wither, I AM the withering”)
I’m loving how Voidy has a sense of humor, but can’t comprehend any motivation beyond pure self-interest. Like, it genuinely can’t process why Erin doesn’t want to ride its coattails.
Also, people have been questioning what the point of Voidy eating the sun would be… but apparently it traveled the cosmos, eating star after star, without limit. Remember, in the Auroraverse, space is SPACE… because Red loves real-world astronomy. Also, I theorize that while Voidy is clearly sentient, it might not be 100% *sapient*… endless hunger is its nature, therefore it devours everything it can. To do anything less is unthinkable to it, consequences of success be damned. Perhaps then, it will find a way into another reality, like the Marlaverse’s Outsider, and devour that reality as well, unless something stops it.
Wow! Hubris McGee still has something to see even in the face of possible death.
Great, he doesn’t get sarcasm
Nah he totally does, I think he’s sarcasming right back lmao. Either that, or he’s intentionally ignoring it because he’s monologuing in a moment of triumph. Scroll down and check out KSClaw’s comment, I think they’re onto something about this!
i swear to god the green being that we met several chapters ago is just named “life”?
Well, the beings that channel Life’s element are literally called life mages, so it makes sense.
He just called the dude with six arms and a sword and shield “Stone”, because he was the stone primordial. I guess there wasn’t really any need to be named anything else.

Well they have true names, these runes that give the mages control over the elements, as Void Dragon those are their truest names, aparently.
Don’t lose hope, maybe she’ll have a fancy name in some primordial-god-language that just means ‘Life’.
If you want, you can add her title to her name; The Life Primordial
To all the people who at the beginning of this monologue thought V.D. was cute: do you still think that now?
Of course, he’s just hungry :c
V.D.’s hangry. He’s just a cute boi who needs a snickers.
…and he’s not only willing, but happy to kill everything to get one…
Hey, you’re not you when you’re hungry, I completely understand /j
I believe he’d prefer a Milky Way.
yes, Yes, YES!
WHERE IS THE LIKE BUTTON RED???!!!??!!!!??!!!!!!???? WHERE IS IT????????!!!!!!!?!!!??????!!!!!!!!!!!??!!!!!!!!!????!!!!!!?
yeah but what if you run into that creepy mage that’s been kidnapping gods? What then, smartass?
Omg I conjectured on earlier comments about what was gonna happen with the move Erin’s obviously about to pull but I think you’re right! Agreement
Monologue May!
I approve of this alliteration.
Oooooooooo those tattoos tho!!
I know! That penultimate panel is beautiful
Ardent agreement.
And bonus points for seeing the Pompous Nitwit’s beautiful natural face immediately before.
Why yes, Erin is my absolute favourite character and I affectionately nicknamed him independently of everyone else. Why do you ask? 🙂
So it looks like Erin will find out the whole truth about Alinua before Kendal (or even herself!) does… I wonder what everyone’s reaction will be
Right?? Plus, I want to see V.D.’s reaction when the Life Primordial appears again (through Alinua, of course). But, how will our heroes free Erin? Will they have to awaken all the primordials again or something?
Is it really a monologue if his brain-passenger can interject?
It’s like Greed and Ling from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood…
“Just don’t plan on running away with my body!”
“Don’t be ridiculous, it was MY body to begin with!”
(To clarify, saying that Erin is the Void Dragon’s hitchhiker is what prompted my response)
Ah, it seems that V.D here has committed the classic villain blunder of saying something in a monologue that could give the hero hope in a desperate situation. It happens to the best of us.

I wonder if her essence is bound in every living thing on Aurora; as long as something on it still lives, she stays alive (albeit formless)
I think that Erin just won the world record for successfully-keeping-your-foe-monologuing-for-the-longest-time-possible. I mean, three weeks HAS to be a record.
“You sly dog! You had me monologuloguloguloguloguing!”
Hehe. Phenomenal power.
“Um, they didn’t like it last time I used ‘phenomenal’.”
And I’m glad to see that Erin is regaining some of his Pompous Nitwit-esque attitude.
The thired panel looks just amazing – Walter know how to make a show :3
Thanks, I try. /s
The V.D. symbol stopped glowing.
It’s glowing, but only in the universally glowy panel.
I sit corrected.
LIFE
That’s the thing we saw!!!
This is really tying everything together so well! I can’t wait until these two primordial spirit’s talk together through Erin and Alinua, lol. Kendal, Erin and Alinua all have spirit pal buddy posing entities, they’re forming a club!
Check the file names everybody.

Walter’s monologue, TL;DR version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HweV3qwWv1I
Oh my god…. so true though. They even have the same colour scheme. I think Walter is a little less…. rambunctious though? He’s the cold kind of villain, while Bill is more chaotic.
Why do you people ignore the Void Dragon’s name?
Dr. Hubris PHD over here has been monologue-ing for the last like 10 pages
I think you mean Dr. Hubris (V)H(D)
Well. That was a bad pun. I shall see myself out.
I feel like at some point in the future of this comic, void mages are probably going to become a thing. Or Sicktats McHubris will make some new study with void magic. TL;DR: Apparently Hubris mcNarratorman is super special and stuff. Void mcDark uses /endmonologue. mcNarratorman is a fan, or is he?

Turns out that when a malign entity takes control of your body, that includes facial muscles.
I love that they get along so well.
alt text: good news, erin! you ARE important! don’t you feel special 😀
Phenomenal power-Void Dragon is mocking him now.

Walter sure knows how this story will end
But is something up with Erin, our friend?
In my mind Walter has a really deep voice and an upper-class British accent, not that you needed to know this
In my mind his voice is the opposite, a little dreamy, high-pitched, voice that becomes rough when speaking with high emotion, using the back of the throat, when this happens
(It kinda changes going from high-pitched, smoothed, and a little dreamy when speaking normally, to rough but still high-pitched voice that sounds a little demonic when speaking in all caps or with a particularly high amount of emotion)

so if its been 3 weeks, than Erin’s probably walked approximately 1500 kms
Cultivation’s Vessel can’t stop Ruin, oh no
Also, those tattoos are even more awesome when they glow
