So, I am confused. Were the Void dragon and the Primordials made by the Twins as well or did they come into existence independently of them? Either way, great story. And yes, the power of friendship will ruin your plans.
Ok….sooo V.D. wanted to eat the sun? I was very unaware of this. Perhaps he is also one of those beings who want the world in complete darkness so they can do as they please…
Glad I’m not the only one who immediately spotted the mythological parallel.
But, as Ancient Eqypt taught us, the only way to defeat a big snake is with a bigger snake.
Then Stone called upon the greatest weapon the Six possessed……………..THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!
In all seriousness though, I’m really starting to get the feeling that there’s a giant dragon body hidden in the caves. If this is the case then whats V.D going to do with Erin when this is all over?
Isn’t the caves supposed to be the veins and passages that make up the void dragon’s body? In that case, he’s probably going to use Erin to perform a little surgery on himself, some housekeeping, maybe get rid of that collector lady squatting in his liver. Nothing worse that unwanted parasites in your organs 😛
It sounds like the Void Dragon is actually Apophis since he wants to swallow up the sun. Is he also like Loki since he was captured, released, and wants to release chaos upon the known world? Maybe, but it wold be funny for their to be a Zeus like character in this story. Red hates Zeus.
And then later we find out that the Void Dragon is pulling all this out of his ass because he knows in the extreme off-chance that Erin manages to free himself, he’ll use whatever he can to try and re-seal him, so giving him a vaguely-plausible load of goat-horse crap will protect him while getting Erin to shut up.
Erin: I now bind you with these runes!
VD: Wow, nice design.
Erin: But… that was supposed to stop you!
VD: Kid, you really think I’m going to tell you all my secrets? Please. I told you that story because I like the sound of my own voice and it got you to quiet down at least somewhat so you wouldn’t be constantly drowning me out.
I’m not sure any more how independent they were of Voidy’s voice. Both the first and second times I read the prologue, I assumed the voice was that of the gray Twin. I would definitely support the theory that the Twins are Void and “Light” or whatever the true opposite of Void is, Ember and Umber, Ahura Mazda and Ahriman ( in the Persian version )… I have my own ideas, but I would call such a theory completely valid at the end of Arc 1.
I hope the Void Dragon, Walter,
In his plan does not start to falter
And change his mind and go to the alter
or wherever the green lady is and assault her
but we know this story is not Red’s fault – er
Because the void dragon isn’t a Walter.
So if all these myths from our past about a deity wanting to eat the sun exist…does that mean maybe the ancients witnessed a black hole cruise through our solar system and nom some plasma off it?
I’m sorry, the astronomer in me can’t keep quiet here.
If a black hole (a small one, i.e. containing about 3 times the total mass of the sun, squished into a ball that’s only about a kilometer across) were to zip through our solar system, shave some plasma off the sun and leave, its gravitational influence would send the solar system into complete chaos. That thing is more massive than the sun, meaning the sun would try to start orbiting around it, taking the planets with it. Past stable orbits would go out the cosmic window; planets colliding with asteroids, moons, or even each other, planets getting flung out of the solar system entirely, or in the worst cases, planets getting thrown into the sun or even the black hole.
tl,dr: A black hole entering the solar system as it is now would f*** everything up. At least the nearest black holes to us are probably whole light years away.
It’s worth pointing out that according to Red, there are no eclipses in Aurora’s planetary system, because Red made Sword and Shield the wrong distances and proportions. There are transits and occultations, but no eclipses as we experience them. Source: the podcast that discusses Red’s video “I Want To Talk About Eclipses.”
Hold Guard: The Gods gave you six hands, and you use three for your shield, two of them for your sword, and one free … I can respect that.
… What? A heavily armed figure is fighting a dragon that wants to eat the universe, I am well within my rights to quote Skyrim.
TL;DR: Void mcDark commences the loredump. Apparently really long ago (so definitely before last week), one of the six supergods who created the world was fighting mcDark and nuked him using a supergod superweapon.
*theories and possible spoilers* @ Logi If that is the case (and I think you’re right) then the collector likely has possession of his body (since she lives down there). Knowing this, Draggo Abyss over here likely hopes to trade Avatar Floof in exchange for his own body back. Avatar Floof is a good trade specifically because he can control all 6 elements thanks to his perfectly balanced soul (read the extra lore magic page) – something which Draggo Abyssal is banking on to catch the special attention of Little Miss Soul Hoarder. This also explains Draggo Abysmal’s promise not to hurt Avatar Floof along the way; he wants Avatar Floof in mint condition so he can trade him.
Only thing I can’t explain is how Draggo Abominal knew about Little Miss Soul Hoarder’s obsession if he’s been trapped in the eye of “The Monstrous Storm of Havoc” since the time of the Ancients.
I don’t care if he was trying to eat the Sun, the Void Dragon is still cute and I love him.
*Walter is still cute
THAT’S NOT THEIR NAME, DAMN IT
Let Walter be. He is adorable.
Erin looks so scared in panel two. Hang in there! The rescue squad is coming!
So, I am confused. Were the Void dragon and the Primordials made by the Twins as well or did they come into existence independently of them? Either way, great story. And yes, the power of friendship will ruin your plans.
My guess is the latter
Yeah, I know that from experience. Assholes, I just wanted to absorb the moon.
Ok….sooo V.D. wanted to eat the sun? I was very unaware of this. Perhaps he is also one of those beings who want the world in complete darkness so they can do as they please…
So this is “What if Apophis was a dragon and actually good at his job?”
Glad I’m not the only one who immediately spotted the mythological parallel.
But, as Ancient Eqypt taught us, the only way to defeat a big snake is with a bigger snake.
I also find it reminiscent of the Void Dragon from Divinity: Original Sin. Naturally.
Why did Red make the void dragon cute? I have a serious software conflict here ._.
Because everything is cute in her style. EVERYTHING.
Many people have a nagging voice in their head, telling them what they should do.
For V.D. it’s a bit more literal
Then Stone called upon the greatest weapon the Six possessed……………..THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!

Correction: the caves are the circulatory system of Primordial Stone.
maybe he wants to eat the other heart??? :0
Ah, My mistake.
So did the Void Dragon want to nom the sun because he wanted to bathe the world in darkness, or because he was hongry?
The first one, as is stated on the lore pages, it wanted to “consume all of existence, one star at a time.”
Both… maybe?
I really like the shot in the second panel of Erin wrapped up in darkness.
It sounds like the Void Dragon is actually Apophis since he wants to swallow up the sun. Is he also like Loki since he was captured, released, and wants to release chaos upon the known world? Maybe, but it wold be funny for their to be a Zeus like character in this story. Red hates Zeus.

gonna give it to vd lots of mythological figures tried to eat the sun. looks kind of tasty from certain angles, huh
Theory: the Twins are the Void Dragon
…With all due respect, I don’t think that’s the case, considering that, in the prologue, we saw both twins independent of the Void Dragon’s voice

HE IS THE DARK FLOOF!
So if all these myths from our past about a deity wanting to eat the sun exist…does that mean maybe the ancients witnessed a black hole cruise through our solar system and nom some plasma off it?
I mean, if you had no idea what caused a solar eclipse, then that would be as plausible an explanation as any.

I just caught up, started reading recently
Red you’re a genius, love your work.
still see the void dragon as an evil Tokoyami from mha, guess even the primordials cant keep down the OG emo bird boi
I really wish that “OG Emo Bird Boi” caught on, instead of “Voidy”
Hold Guard: The Gods gave you six hands, and you use three for your shield, two of them for your sword, and one free … I can respect that.

Thank you sir, for continuing the honor of the TL;DR. I respect you, Sir NTSH
I’m gonna start calling yellow eyes “Apophis”
Ya wan ya daru! Kree shak!
alt text: ah yea, you gotta watch out for those “power of friendship” finishers. classic villain blunder

In ages gone by an evil scheme ended
With something Stone did, an attack so splendid
Can we talk about how Stone has one leg and six arms, and how awesome that is?
His other leg is folded behind his back
