And yet Erin understood he’d been possessed, and even had a working theory on what had possessed him from the moment he woke up as himself. And as far as I’m concerned he was about as gentle as you can be with someone who’s dodging the issue.
I agree. And I think Erin was the best person to bring this subject up with her since he can understand her position better than anyone else. To me, this doesn’t seem like criticism but rather a much needed push in the right direction. Ignoring Life’s presence and pretending its just Alinua ‘controlling her magic’ might prove dangerous.

3 AM is 2 PM where I live, so I’m always awake for the new pages–it’s so nice to have this pop up in the middle of the afternoon! Gives me the boost of energy I need for the last ten hours of the day.
3AM is… actually 3AM where I live, but I don’t usually see the page until 7 or 8. It’s kinda nice, knowing that a new page will be there first thing in the morning for me.
I think I’m six hours ahead, so 3AM is 9AM for me. Early enough that I look forward to it each morning, but late enough that I do sit around for maybe five minutes furiously reloading the comic as if that will make it update faster.
Well at the very least it seems, from the colour of the sky, Kendal has had a few hours of pseudo-sleep.
Erin and Alinua will share exposition duty, Kendal will add what he learnt in his dream and Falst will begin to question if joining the gang was such a good idea. Assuming he doesn’t return with bad news and they have to take a rain check on the exposition.
Yeah Alinua, you said a while back you wanted to know why the Void Dragon recognised you. That coupled with your out-of-body experience while dreaming at Jolon’s clinic and unconscious use of staggering amounts of life magic means that you probably should understand it.
I also get the feeling that having control of her powers isn’t ALL she’s ever wanted. What about reuniting with her adopted family? Maybe confronting her original family over their treatment of her?

Can I just say I love the DEPTH Red gave Erin. I love these moments where we just see him caring about his friends and trying to be kind. A lesser writer would have just made his entire personality Mr Hubris. Yes he’s a Pompous Nitwit but he still cares about people and wants to help them. Even if he’s a bit blunt about it.
I love how multifaceted each of the main three are thus far, but Erin is definitely my favorite. I really like how complex he is. He reads like a real person.
I really like that we’re finally getting something focusing on the dynamic between Erin and Alinua. I’m pretty sure the only other time they interact with each other, they got into an argument about Charisma-based and Intelligence-based spellcasting.
Also, how much does Falst know. Like he knows about Kendal’s deal, and he saw Alinua’s plant-explosion. But he doesn’t know about Erin. Like, he probably guessed about him being the Elemental Magus because of the fact that he has eyes, but not the dragon.

Weird, Falst said the exact same thing. Honestly though, I feel like if things are happening the way she wants them to happen either yes she is the one in control or Life approves of what she wants to do with the power. If it’s the first thing she’s fine, if it’s the second thing this is a symbiotic relationship with a benevolent entity that she can get used to
I think there’s another part to it. As we saw when the void dragon took over Erin the second time, the primordials don’t have total control (Erin still managed to paralyze himself). So I guess it’s a mix of both: Life needs Alinua to cooperate at least somewhat, and I bet that keeping an eye on the void dragon is a thing the life primordial wants to do too (nevermind expelling it from its vessel, which is what they’re trying to do).
Additionally, both primordials are basically stuck if they get their respective vessel killed and thus need to avoid this, so overtly taking control carries a lot of risk, For the Void Dragon it means fighting Life and somebody who doesn’t seem to be that affected by his magic (Kendal) at the same time. And for Life it means possibly provoking a fight with the VD which can do major harm to Alinua.
Honestly I think Erin has a point here… which makes sense considering his first-hand experience. Being possessed by the Void Dragon is a pretty bad thing but at least Erin KNOWS what’s going on, which is helpful in terms of predicting and hopefully countering VD’s motives. And he’s making a point of sharing that information with the rest of the Floof Squad- which is very important because Erin losing control would put everyone around him in direct danger. Whereas if Alinua doesn’t understand what her deal is, then she (and everyone else) will be totally unprepared if something goes badly in the future. Is blindly trusting a primordial entity really a wise decision?
At the same time I see what Alinua’s- because it’s not quite the same situation. Whatever Life Mum is up to, previous events are pointing towards ‘helpful ally’ rather than ‘LITERAL PURE EVIL’ like VD. And for the first time in her life Alinua finally has some semblance of control, so why can’t Erin just give her a break and let her have this one thing?
