Wait, the blue text is from the dragon talking! :O
Also, notice those eyes…there is something chasing Yellow eyes from the beginnings of times! (thanks Jade 😉
Commenting just to say thanks, the story and art are a lot of fun! It definitely evokes a lot of nostalgia and makes me want to re-read so many old fantasy stories. Can’t wait for more magic and hair floof
So, having read the extra lore about the Six Primordials, ‘Yellow Eyes’ is probably some sort of incarnation of this celestial Dark Dragon that the six elemental beings killed, ‘Big, Green, and All-Seeing’ might be the life primordial of those beings, and now we have ‘Blue Eyes’ and Paladins, too!
Plus, I think the Collector may be another Elemental Magus. Erin only said they were really rare, but not that there could only be one at a time. Not sure how she’s seemingly invulnerable, though. But maybe she could help Erin? She does have experience dissecting souls.
Also, talk of a Dark Avatar and Paladins makes me think of the Legend Of Korra and Voltron.
Maybe the Collector is the Elemental Mage that died a few hundred years prior. Maybe she can’t die because she already did.
But, hey that’s just a theory
Assuming that the paladins are some sort of magical authority in the world of Aurora (which is what I think they might be), they may feel that is the only course of action. Of course it’s worth considering that Alinua’s also there, and she can hypothetically keep Erin’s possessor in check.
Plot Twist: The paladins are actually magic clones of Blue’s D&D character Alcibiades, who’s basically the combination of every greek flaw rolled into one bad boi.
For Salem:
Yes, they are definitely the primordial dragon, and maybe because the storm is over they can be awakened again, like the storm missing might awaken the primordials.
And yea, she is probably the last elemental Magus, she does control more than an element, (life and stone) and seems kinda undead
I point out that while some people have proposed the collector being the previous elemental magus, bear in mind that it is unconfirmed and it’s still entirely possible for a mage to grasp any number of the elements up to six/seven. For all we know, she’s some random mage who became overly absorbed in her studies of souls to the point of kidnapping Vash. We only see her using life and stone magic.
Also I think this dragon is just a member of an intelligent species that happens to be the avatar for lightning, working on the basis that when their eyes glow up a primordial starts talking. This is working on the basis that ordinary people seem to have normal speech bubbles, Gods have bubbles that are different colours but still bubbles, and what we believe are primordials all talk in all caps with no bubble and a respective colour scheme. I wouldn’t have thought that a dragon could/would be the avatar, but I see no issue with that. The only thing that I find slightly weird is that the colour all lightning seems to be under ordinary circumstances is yellow, yet the dragon avatar has blue lightning. Is that at all significant?
Paladins would have to know what was in the storm, so they must be either really old, or really powerful….or are reincarnations of a elemental spirit (maybe god)….Alinua definitely needs a raise from her current circumstances.
Yay! World building! On a side note, I do kinda feel like this was when our quest was supposed to start – with a giant dragon swooping down to our protagonists and amongst the confusion, getting them to go on a quest! Also I think there are three possible (likely) explanations for who the paladins are:
-People like Alinua
-A ruling council
Now, while the other two ideas have been presented by other people, let me throw my own hat in the ring: every god has a Paladin, as Paladins are typically tied to gods and this world is FULL of them. Exactly what kind of a role they would fulfill I’m not sure – maybe acting as adventurers or emissaries????
Erin did mention Asera having emissaries, so it’s possible… The one thing that gives me pause is that people have seemed to use emissary and paladin as different terms, i.e. Magistrate Luran and Erin referred to Important People Chosen By Gods as emissaries specifically, not paladins (“I wouldn’t want to disgrace an emissary of Vash…” “…Though I am not an emissary of Asera…”) It would be interesting, though, if emissaries and paladins were one in the same, or if paladins are one-per-god elite emissaries, but I feel it’s more likely that the paladins are a small, incredibly skilled and prestigious group of people (or even gods!)
Ah, true. I do feel like emissaries and Paladins are different things. But also – how would this dragon, who seems to be living in the storm, know where the paladins (whoever they are) are? like I can’t imagine that someone just pops up every so often for a chat and cup of tea, and fills the dragon in on whatever has been going on (though this would be amazing)
Red has this habit of constantly sprinkling her Aurora characters into her trope talks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-cRPmVOtAk
I’m pretty sure that this video has a lot of hints towards future aurora stories
Yeah, I saw two in the power of friendship, one in the character death video, and possibly two in the I know you’re in there somewhere fight but I might have confused it with the ones in the power of friendship video.
I agree with Goldie, what?
Who are paladins? Some sort of militant emissaries? How do they know about the dark dragon? Was that the dragon talking or was it being possessed by something? We need answers Red!
Also she’s taken a headbutt into the earth with some force seemingly no worse for wear, just how durable is she? Is that metallic skin serving a similar function to Kendal’s metal weaved body?
TL;DR: Goldy beats up dragon some more, dragon gets sick of it and beats the crap out of Goldy before getting an urgent message on its iEye C4 Plus and GTFOs.
Is no one going to comment on the “Dark Avatar” bit? With Erin being master of all the “elements” and all. I predict a later plotline in the comic: “But when the world needed him most, he vanished.”
So the dragon CAN understand and speak human. It just decided to be complicated about the whole trespassing thingy. Not cool, dragon-bro. Not cool.
Note,
The dragon looked like it got possessed, with the glowing eye thing, so maybe it couldn’t have talked but whatever possessed it could.
Nah, they just got woke is all

How do you read it. Me says that you need a password
The password is ‘spoilers’.

A GAME THEORY!
“So is it a good or a bad thing that I’m not being mauled anymore?”
Oh yes, just leave her lying in the dirt right after USING YOUR HEAD AS AN ENORMOUS HAMMER TO CRUSH HER
Also, now I’m slightly worried that these paladins are going to try to kill Erin

I doubt that’s actually the case, but it would be hilarious if it is
Where can I find this character that blue made?
SHAAAA
(Flashbacks to Red’s Frankenstein video, when The Creature had his appearance described with Careless Whisper playing in the background)

Except, the life primordial was already kind of awake long before The Storm disappeared, what with the Chimeric Plague

Paladins you say?
Time to uphold our moral superiority!
Oh look, that explosion of… darkness… just scared away a dragon. I guess I will wander on over and see what it is.
How rude. They were having a good fight and then the dragon just left.
I kinda hoped that “the paladins” might be our three man band.

My school is closed until further notice and tbh this comic is the only reason I still know what day of the week it is
Same.
I’ve got it! The paladins are the hosts to the primordials, like Alinua.
Okay, I know the dragon was being a huge jerk, but they’re just so stinking CUTE that I hope we see them again!
TRULY A VICTORY FOR THE FORCES OF AN ENORMOUS “F-YOU” DRAGON
TWO BOMBASTIC RED QUOTES AT ONCE! I LIKE IT!
Ok, that should be on a mug.
ooo intriguing 😀
What
Nice way to end it
…so why is it that the dragon’s voice, in my head, sounds like the zealots from RvB?
Gold Lady: …so is the boss fight over now?
*heart container appears from thin air*

There was also one in the strong female characters video
Neeeeeeed moooooooore.
(Please and thank you.)
That was not a friendly head butt.

I’m pretty sure I would have noticed if the dragon had a lemur, especially one as distinctive as an aye-aye.
dragon is the manafestation of the cult’s god? maybe?
alt text 1: scuse me I’m trying to have a bossfight here
alt text 2: what
Wait, was THIS the paladins’ Lady?? Wow, I can’t wait for this to be brought up again
Is this LD?
It seems like less of a primordial threat than VD

Since it ate my comment,

Blasted to bits, why did it show up after I remade it? Oh well, guess there’s two now.

In midst of a bossfight, headbutt and all
The dragon takes flight as if summoned by call
[mild spoilers, I don’t *think* this gives away anything?]
Wait! This is the light dragon, right?? Or, possibly the light dragon possessing a normal dragon to interact with mortals.
