The slim bellies of those riding animals suggest they don’t have enough bowels and stomachs to effectively digest grasses and leaves. So what do they eat? My guess is they’re insectivores.
Quite possibly frugivores?
Maybe. They’d need a lot of berry bushes then, because these animals obviously can’t climb.

Why on earth shouldn’t we. This is a very thought out fantasy world, and Red clearly put a lot of effort into it. Given that they’re not entirely unrealistic animals, and PAN has already given a couple fair explanations above, it seems like a fun thought exercise.
Also, with that new tree, it’ll be easier than ever to feed them if they’re frugivores!

Well, given that most (perhaps all?) deer are browsers who’s diet consists of flowers, leaves grass and bark, (sometimes a bit of other stuff but mainly that) I imagine they would have to have a drastically different diet if they are not ruminants

My guess is that there’s some code behind the scenes that needs the page number to be part of the URL in order to figure out which comment you’re replying to, and it doesn’t work on the main page – just a guess, though. TL;DR: Vashn’t and pink floof have to follow the notification from Vashn’t’s Sword 5S pro to rescue pantene god from chimera mum. Pink floof shows Vashn’t that you get free stuff if you grow magic plants for people, good life advice right there.
Re: PedanticAnimalNerd – they also appear to have forward-facing eyes (or at least more forward-facing than horses), indicating predator status. I would peg them as omnivores, with a diet ranging from edible plants / fungi to small animals – not being limited to specific foods would make them more versatile and thus useful for long journeys. Given that they’re evidently domesticated, they likely have a natural social structure (herd / pack / etc.), so larger prey wouldn’t be out of the question, but their horns (generally a defensive armament) and small horse-like mouths indicate that their normal preference is for smaller prey.
