“I’m a construct created to save a god from something that can take down gods. That tends to require me to take on challenges that a sense of self-preservation would severely limit.”
In all honesty, they probably should help possessed nerd boy now rather than later, for a few reasons.
1) If they run and manage to escape, he will almost certainly head towards civilization to cause havoc and Kendal the good floofy boi just can’t allow that.
2) Since they will almost certainly have to face him eventually, with Kendal being the paragon he is, it’s better to face him while he’s weakened. The sorcerer is still fighting from the inside, so that means whatever is possessing him isn’t in full control, and thus not at full strength. However, nerdy boy is very clearly losing this battle and probably won’t be able to continue fighting for much longer. Better to deal with the weakened enemy than fight the monster at full strength.
3) I wish for my nerdy boy to join the party as soon as possible. I know that’s biased, but he’s an overconfident dork and I love him.
“Before we commence in an wholly unnecessary squabble good sir, let us initiate the proper greeting and carry forth with the shaking of hands.”
“AAAAYRRRRUUJGGGGGHELPHELPHELPHYHYYGGG”
“Well my name is Kendal”
I’m not quite sure what Sir Floof is doing in the last panel. I think he’s offering his hand out to our possessed dude, but it also kind of looks like a hug and him gently trying to move Purple Floof out of the way to get to possessed dude.
“I didn’t leave you.” That is such a powerful line and Alinua’s face in the next panel work so well together. Kendal didn’t give up on her and now she can live a normal life, why should he give up on this guy? Especially, if panel five is any indication he’s still fighting against gold-eyes.
(Also, like the detail of the tree wall withering between the second and fourth panels.)
once again, Kendal convinces Alinua that helping people in need outweighs his own safety (to be fair Alinua can heal just about any wound but that’s her choice and not something that should be relied on) but also that’s just wholesome as anything,
i love these characters
big hugs! 😀
TACTICAL HUGS!

The comebacks are rolling, aren’t they?
Panel 4 is wonderful and I love you.
I love panel six. The expression on their faces and Kendal’s reaction is just so delightfully funny!

Yes! Attack with hugs, it’s the most powerful weapon!

On today’s episode of “Self Preservation vs Plot Advancement”
I know that it isn’t reds intention but the shipper in me just activated.
FINIALLY! IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!
I’ll save you with the power of friendship.
Kendal, you floofy idiot! Aaahh, why must you be so good!
When your Fighter/Barbarian God has a Paladin as his champion
*gasps* Alinua and Kendal did the 5 seconds of staring thing!
Until the luminescent blush occurs, the ship will not have officially launched.
Launched? No, but the dry dock is making excellent progress.

self preservation? He wouldn’t be a protagonist if he did! Kindness and self preservation are kind of mutually exclusive don’t ya know
Only somewhat as some characters do have both kindness and a self-preservation instinct.

Tl;DR: the debate continues! Vashn’t uses the distant past (last week) as supporting evidence and ends the debate with the power of hugs!
What can I say? If I was going to face Dark Flood, I’d probably need a hug too.

WHY CAN’T YOU JUST HAVE AN OUNCE OF SELF-PRESERVATION JUST ONE TIME
She urges him to go, and it seems she is right
Since the plants die, he pushes her away from the blight
Yeesh, gut punch
Hugs are back on the menu boys
