Tess (Dragon Expert): Invulnerable? Psh. Not counting those soft spots shared by all living beings, like eyes, there are at least a dozen specific to dragons. Like the wide one on the back where the neck muscles meet the wing muscles. Punch that one and the dragon goes down like a tower of cards.

In a spray of lightning Tess leaps up,
And strikes the back of the dragon.
Her hands are raised, with lightning bound,
In the darkened sky, a radiant streak,

I love how when Tynan went dragon mode we were all like ‘oh no that’s bad and like yeah, it was bad, but now things are just going *so much worse* for Tynan.

Despite all the awesomeness on this page, Dainix using his poncho as an impromptu pillow for Falst is my favourite part.
I’m wondering about Tess’s position. Did she go there because that is a common weak point for dragons? Or potentially because it’s a difficult spot for Tynan’s form to reach? Either way her knowledge of dragon punching is paying off; even Kendal looks impressed.
So that’s visual confirmation of all the gang’s status. Erin and Falst are incapacitated, Alinua healing, Dainix ready/guarding Falst, Kendal still riding the eye and Tess brining love and pain to the fans and Tynan, respectively.
Prediction for next week: Dainix will make his move and/or Tynan manages to dislodge one or two of his attackers. No grand revolutions, just more fighting.

He decked the arenamaster’s guards when Alinua tore the prison open. Other than that though… let’s go down the list: Tess landed a one-hit kill against the burrower wyrm when Falst couldn’t even scratch it, he got a bolt through the arm and a facefull of knockout powder against Shrike and her crew, and now he’s become the latest victim of a wizard’s area-of-effect spells that don’t take collateral damage into consideration. Heck, Dainix ended the fight with the arenamaster and the guards, too, so that one isn’t wholly Falst’s victory. It seems our beloved catboy has been ensnared by the iron grip of The Worf Effect. (Either that or he’s not very skilled in combat to begin with, and/or is simply outmatched in nearly every fight.)
@Cashmere @TheUnknownGame that actually tallies with his intro. he waited until the group was distracted to take Erin’s stuff, and then once they hunted him down, he was fighting a desperate but losing battle. then when Jolon showed up, he only shifted the tides through sneakiness & being underestimated. In other words he’s the Sneaky Guy, not so much a front-lines fighter.
OF COURSE the time I finally decide to read this (all in one go) it ends up in the middle of a fight. But can’t actually be mad because the whole story has been so awesome. Like all the plots and plot hooks ad the way they interact and THE ART??!?!?! It’s incredible.
Okay, while I was disappointed we didn’t get a cool starfire scene (yet! I’m still holding out), that shift to Dainix tells me that it’s time for him to make his move.
