Big points to Erin for being of an actually open mind. Plenty of characters out there that are as smart as him and so would try to poke holes in the story. He’s just taking it in, and adjusting his worldview…
You are telling me not even the current champion knows about the Dragon’s actual plan? O_O That can’t be right… Back in chapter 7 She knew the “Storm” was a “Trap”, and by all intents and purposes She was also “there” when the Twins created the first 3 races.
??????????
Huracan: If you’re one of his tools and you’re reading this, we have a hit on you.
Something tells me that had Erin not had his experiences with the storm and the dragon, he’d have not believed this text. He’s seen the ruined city and has talked with V.D. so he can verify everything she said. I wonder if this spurs him to believe that L.D. might not be a product of ancient delusion after all.
So my one of my wonderings from last page was right; the Ancients did worship both dragons. L.D. seemingly never saw fit to clarify V.D.’s evilness. Maybe she thought that with the mortal wills awakened he was sealed for good; V.D. did say he spend centuries in dormancy. Besides, telling the people of Aurora of the apocalypse dragon bellow them might cause problems.
Huracan’s phrasing is interesting; “even when I am gone”. Gone from this world as in dead? Is her agelessness not necessarily immortality or could she be tired from everything and contemplating dying? Or maybe the “gone” means to go somewhere, did she want to leave where she was, retire somewhere else in the world and leave her acolytes to the V.D. business?
The dragon boop in panel 8 is how I choose to believe all connections with the Light Dragon are formed.
As Evil Tree said, it seems that Huracan was anticipating death or some sort of removal despite her agelessness. We’ll have to wait and see what that means exactly I suppose.
I’m still waiting for an explanation about LD’s existence, but who knows if we’ll get it out of this text. It seems to me that it is winding down to an end, or at least an end of what we’re going to get to read. I wonder what’s going to happen next.
I mentioned on the last page that Erin was reading about his historical equal and opposite in relation to The Storm; it’s nice to see a reaction from him about the gravity of this information.
Panel 4 slightly resembles the mural on the ceiling of the entrance dome. Just a little fun fact.
HelloHaiku:
I agree; perhaps it’s due to a stylistic choice in Paladin artwork… or maybe they actually do have such (proportionally) short, stubby legs, which would be hilarious to me.
voidy continues to feel like a (if not *the*) centrepiece of this story.
as has already been pointed out, this page, uh, really does not seem to bode well for Erin. am half expecting for him to get immediately knocked upside the head and put unconscious; dramatic timing
Is the Void Dragon’s will really so difficult to comprehend? Did Huracan ever think to just ask him what he wants? If his motives were truly unknowable, wouldn’t he have been unable to explain them to Erin? Did the two Dragons have a more or less amiable relationship before the Void Dragon destroyed that city? Was that city the Light Dragon’s favourite toy? Has she been throwing a temper tantrum for millennia, breaking his toys as vengeance for the one he turned into a storm? Did Huracan ever realize that she depicted the Lady in this manner? Is Huracan’s recipe for Temptations cat treats hidden within the body of the text in a cipher?
Okay so some thoughts:
-Huracan has it out for anyone helping the void dragon, and from what we’ve seen that has continued to the current paladins. Her mentality about Void is interesting, I wonder what his worshippers among the ancients were like
-Collector and Huracan prooobably aren’t the same person, but Collector being ageless and looking a /lot/ like a palette-swapped Huracan is definitely not a coincidence. What happened to Huracan most likely is tied to whatever happened to Collector
-the flashy paladin who seems to be Light’s avatar is part Ancient based on their hair and skin tone; I suspect they trace ancestry back to Huracan
-Officially, the Ancients experienced societal collapse due to a civil war before the humans and elves showed up on the surface. I wonder how the destruction of the city
@Dragon Kid, they haven’t been fully explained in the story, but if you want to know more, the Twins are covered in the Extra Lore tab.
Also, and people can stop me if it’s not well liked, but I think I’ve found something for me here. I shall predict the future…
Through TRIVIA QUESTIONS!
Our first question is “What forms do the tools of the Dark Dragon take?” Are they:
A. Acolytes who serve his will? (kinda like Erin, but more willing)
B. Possessed animals?
C. Ancient structures that will cause some sort of event?
D. None of the above?
Ah shoot, the italics didn’t work how I wanted them to. Does anyone know why they did that? I put () and () on both sides, does that have anything to do with it? Help would be greatly appreciated :-).
Somebody, TheUnknownGame, Humanoid Clay, Evil Tree, and HelloHaiku:
I see your comments. Thank you! If I can show the appreciation that I’m sure others also feel, my work here is done.
Humanoid Clay: I like the idea of your trivia questions! It’s a new and fun way to predict what might possibly happen next.
Another shoutout:
@Hermit Thrush: welcome back! and thank you for posting the alt text for those of us whose phones somehow won’t show it.
I bet the next scene is going to be
Erin: Hmm, I wonder what Alinua and Falst are up to right about now. *insert random guard charging in talking about a fight in the street* oh.
@humanoid clay, maybe A. But also I like the trivia version of theorizing, it gives us more chances to be right, and raises more questions.
We should do them more often?
Does anyone know what it means when you post a comment and it says “comment awaiting moderation.”
It used to do that every time for me, but it doesn’t anymore
Humanoid Clay:
Let’s see if this will show up correctly:
(em) italicized passage (/em)
(strong) emboldened passage (/em)
Replace parentheses with corresponding arrows.
@Dark Wolf & TheUnknownGame
Thank you for your assistance, I am sure that it will be useful in the future :-).
@Ave & Leapyeargirl96
Thank you for your feedback! I was on the fence about doing it, but now that I know people like it, I’ll be sure to make it a staple here :-).
So the Ancient people couldn’t use elemental magic, but *could* speak with the Dragons. That’s pretty neat. Which super power would I choose, elemental magic or Dragon-whisperer? Hmm…
Both. I’ll be a magical Paladin and do both. Cheating? Maybe, but I’m clearly not the only one! *gestures wildly at Paladins*
@gray dragon, I’m not sure, the button wasn’t working for meeither, so I have just been @ing people (case and point) .but the tablet I’m viewing on is very old and I thought it was just because of that. But now I see other people haven’t been able to either so I don’t know what’s up
Ok, I know back commenting is a little gouache but whatever. I think Lady Huracan is the Collector. It would explain why the Colector doesn’t age, why she dresses like an ancient, why the Light Dragon has a new host, and why she’s so obsessed with restoring the Primordials. She would have not only felt Life’s pain but understood it from the Void Dragon destroying her life and people. She even has a justifiable reason to look for the Primordials, either a mission for the Light Dragon or a way to restore her people and home or any number of reasons. And all the Paladins dress like her except in light tones.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking. it lines up too much to be nothing. but that’s to find out later… For now, I agree with you. besides nothing is confirmed yet.
so they worshiped the dragons like modern humans worship the twins? Also first comment?
Very cool, seems tha paladins are on to something.
I think we should be worried that the ‘strike down’ Voidys tools … that doesn’t bode well for Erin.
Big points to Erin for being of an actually open mind. Plenty of characters out there that are as smart as him and so would try to poke holes in the story. He’s just taking it in, and adjusting his worldview…
@LizardWithHat I was thinking the same thing, but they have to find out first. So, hopefully he keeps his VD tattoo under wraps
AHKUNA! LOOK, WE GET LORE!!!! I‘M SO HAPPY!
The dragons look cute
Even when they are trying
To kill each other
You are telling me not even the current champion knows about the Dragon’s actual plan? O_O That can’t be right… Back in chapter 7 She knew the “Storm” was a “Trap”, and by all intents and purposes She was also “there” when the Twins created the first 3 races.
??????????
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty panel 4 is like it’s so cool
Huracan: If you’re one of his tools and you’re reading this, we have a hit on you.

Kukuku…
Serious lore right there
TL;DR: so it seems this cult is the last surviving remnants of a long lost religion. Perhaps they were on to something
..?
What are the two twins?

i’m sure timezones is what’s going on here, but i love the idea of people getting up at 3am three times a week to check in on the comic
This backstory is chilling, I like it!
This is awesome
@Dragon Kid Head to the Extra Lore section to find out. The Twins appear in the Prologue and are mentioned by the Void Dragon in Chapter 7.
I mentioned on the last page that Erin was reading about his historical equal and opposite in relation to The Storm; it’s nice to see a reaction from him about the gravity of this information.
Panel 4 slightly resembles the mural on the ceiling of the entrance dome. Just a little fun fact.

Tune in This Week to Find Out!
Oh neat, lore.
alt text: lots of glow on these pages

“strik down his tools at every turn” uh oh Erin beter be carful
“we were unshure” so there are still ancients left
@Dragon Kid, they haven’t been fully explained in the story, but if you want to know more, the Twins are covered in the Extra Lore tab.

@Jax It isn’t that I’m getting up at 3 am, or even timezones…
It’s that I’m of that particular subset of humans that’s still awake, because I’m borderline nocturnal. O.o
Somebody, TheUnknownGame, Humanoid Clay, Evil Tree, and HelloHaiku:

Testing. Testing.
Oh! It worked!
As TheUnknownGame said, you have to use these things:
@Jax yeah I live in Australia so the update come at like 6-7 pm for me(depending on whether or not it’s daylight savings time)
@Jax UK guy here and the comic updates at 9 AM here. However the hours will go back at the end of this month so then I’ll get it at 8 AM.

how do you reply to other coments?

Both. I’ll be a magical Paladin and do both. Cheating? Maybe, but I’m clearly not the only one! *gestures wildly at Paladins*

i never realised how blue his eyes were :0
Just a quick lil’ proofread! Panel 5 says “indentify” in a place I think might want to say “identify” instead! Excellent art on this one, Red.
o no hu what
