Any landing you can walk away from with immediate medical attention and a wolverine-style healing factor!
That was a loud CRASH!
She can fix bones, but alas
she can’t fix that cloak…
(Bonus)
The crates that they broke
contained precious cabbages!
Noo! My cabbages!
This place is worse than Omashu!
Thank you so much for this, the laugh made my night.
Ooof Falst listen to Alinua she cares about you!
“Just because I can fix you doesn’t mean you shouldn’t avoid needing it in the first place!”
No no let him speak he’s got a point
Place your bets
“Uh…all of them?”
Phrases that contradict each other:
“Im really hard to hurt”
“Do you know how many of your BONES I just FIXED”
Those aren’t contradictory: it was a REALLY big fall, onto stone, carrying a passenger. A normal person’s legs and back might have shattered rather than merely extensively fracturing.
Never take you healer (and support in general) for granted, kids. It is the prevailing cause of total party wipes.
Mild typo: Alinua is meant to be capitalized in that fourth panel
Gosh this is so chaotic I love them
Nothing says “bonding moment” more than jumping off a cliff together and then healing your multiple fractures!
Alinua’s so angry with Falst she forgot to add a question mark to her sentence.
Ouch! The ‘Smash’ FX in the second panel, I really felt that. Kendal’s sword through the chimera in 8-11, Falst’s hand break in 10-7, Red uses her namesake colour to great effect when communicating these injuries.
See how torn up Alinua’s cape is compared to Falst’s, Erin’s capes are fine and purple but it seems nowhere near as sturdy as a regular one. One more thing for him to be mad at them when/if they get back.
A valid reason to be mad and something she knows all too well from Kendal’s antics, plus assuming the healer would be ok with such a thing is bad practice. However maybe something about jumping off the mountain reminds her of her ‘thrown off the flying islands’ origin, or maybe that’s just me overthinking it.
How about we open a broken bone jar? Maybe that will keep him from doing stunts like that.
Okay, NOT COOL, Falst! Just counting on Alinua herself being still intact enough after this to simply heal everything no problem? How about we DON’T take incompletely informed risks and make this decision also for someone else who didn’t agree?
K A B A G E S , Red is this why we discover how to translate runes!
TL;DR: RIP cabbage crate, you will be missed.
Also, double jumps are video game only. Don’t try them on your next actual prison escape. Failure t follow these guidelines can lead to broken bones. Side effects include torn capes, property damage, and angry arguments. See your doctor after attempting a double jumps.
ok this is a ATLA in a wolverine wearing a cloak…& we can all see the tale.
FINE I admit nothing
Listen to your mother Falst
There are some things that don’t heal.
Maybe don’t risk breaking them.
I am absolutely loving the interactions between these two
Aw no cabbages 🙁
Okay; he’s not dead, he just broke a few (dozen) bones; while he did survive the fall, it’s good to know that fall damage isn’t completely handwaived. It also helps that he took the brunt of the impact, since that protected the most powerful healer in the world to fix him up right afterward.
TL;DR I think what used to make TL;DRs stopped and then later somebody made some more
Alinua: You almost died
Falst: Tis but a scratch
Merely a flesh wound
Now that I think about it, Falst probably left behind Erins lended cloak and used his own out of pure spite
*Gasp* There ARE ATLAB references!!!
Hard to hurt still implies you have limits and can still be hurt when those limits are exceeded. He now knows a little more about his limits and what will hurt him.
Alinua is just so done with everything right now. Poor baby.
Ah, good old Cleric’s Featherfall, never fails.
You know, I honestly have thought of doing that after I’m tired of hiking.
its a lot faster then walking down
The Heart objects to your self destructive tendencies, Big Guy.
OW that second panel has to be the most painful comic I have ever read. glad they’re both ok now
Mipha’s Grace is ready
How many bones did Falst break? Where did Tess go? Will Caliban realize that they just scared off three potentially useful allies? Will any of the gods ever respond to Zuurith’s invites to play crokinole? Will anyone ever defeat Tynan, the Crokinole World Champion?
Tune in Next Week to Find Out!
yes this is good i like this theme of the fake law breaking down when something more powerful comes in.
Is anyone else thinking about how they’re gonna say goodbye to kendal after they get vash? I havent been able to shake it from the back of my mind ever since getting into the story 🙁
To Coconut:
The thought had crossed my mind, yes. But there’s still a lot of things that could happen between now and then, and a lot of factors to consider. For example, it’s quite possible that Vash won’t be able to retake his/Kendal’s body now that the latter has occupied it–especially given that by the time Kendal and Co. find him, Kendal will have firmly developed into his own being and will have his own opinions on the matter. Vash doesn’t strike me as the type to forcibly take back and/or reabsorb incarnations/soul fragments (remember, we still don’t know exactly what Kendal is, but all evidence points to his having some connection to Vash–and if he turns out, as some suspect, to be Vash’s sword, the components of said sword were physically part of Vash at one point, so spiritual residue–for lack of a better term–seeding the blade for eventual sentience is quite possible), and in fact, I have a feeling that Vash has enough of a rebellious nature that if told to do so, he’d let Kendal continue existing to spite whoever gave the order to take him back. There’s also the fact that by the end of this Kendal will have both proven himself a hero and probably saved the world in the process (because let’s face it, rescuing Vash is not going to be the end of this by a long shot) and thus be majorly owed, and have a group of friends who will go to hell (or the local equivalent) in order to drag him back out of it should the need arise–or at the very least, who will not hesitate to get in the faces of beings several magnitude higher in power than they are to demand his return–especially because they will be owed a massive debt as well, and it’s quite likely that they will call it in in order to get him back.
Also, I rather doubt that Red will make Kendal’s disappearance (or sacrifice, because let’s face it, the big goof is far more likely to die heroically) permanent. I could be wrong, of course, but somehow I feel that if it comes down to it, this will be less a “Skyward Sword” situation and more of a “Pokemon Mystery Dungeon” one. And even if he does have to disappear, I don’t think he’ll be fully gone–there will probably be a loophole of some kind so that he can return, even if only as a spirit or for short periods of time.
Word of advice, Falst–Don’t tick off the healer. She might just leave you next time to learn from your mistakes.
…And considering that the healer in question is Alinua, current host of an eldritch nature deity, you should probably really avoid making her mad. She could probably rearrange your insides if she felt like you deserved it.
blarmy blar blar:
*SMASH* “It is my pleasure.”
@Skye and Coconut
There’s a really simple solution you’re both overlooking: Vash makes a new body for himself.
Though that’s also assuming this quest *succeeds*
To, HermitRush
Yeah as I was reading through his reply I thought of that. Lets hope that happens.
Alinua at the beginning of this webcomic, naive and foolish: I can’t wait to help people with my plant and healing powers!
Alinua now: falst i am this fucking close
That’s why I keep separate outer garments for professional attire and leaping off mountains.
To, HelloHaiku
Favourite haiku so far
Keep this up Falst and Alinua is gonna set a limit of free heals peradventure!
I can only imagine Ali shouting as a serious sam kamikaze.
I really like thr clenched fist as Alinua goes to heal him.

No it isn’t. Using a lower case letters in combination with the shaky looking font, in this type of situation is common to show that the person is injured, breathless and/or deeply frightened.
Alt text confirms that those crates held cabbages, blue cabbages apparently, this universe has blue cabbages. Repeat, this universe has blue cabbages. What a move, Falst, your temporary sacrifice in bringing us this information will not be forgotten.
as they say any landing you can walk away from
To Coconut:
I had a fun time
coming up with those haikus. 🙂
Thanks for the feedback!
Whatever doesn’t kill you. Literally.
I guess the alt text choice was between “my cabbages” and “He always lands on his feet ha ha h a”
ah, yes, the wail of every healer…
I feel her pain.
“you’re a healer and i’m really had to break” is my discord status now
I think it’s meant to be a deliberate format choice to suggest windedness or other incapacity
To Coconut and Hermit Thrush:
Probably should have specified that, huh? I mean, I kind of figured that if Vash couldn’t or wouldn’t retake his/Kendal’s body he’d naturally incarnate again, but considering we don’t know if there’s a limit on how many incarnations can be “active” at a time and whether or not Kendal counts as one any more (especially considering the “Kendal may be the sword” theory and how that would complicate things (what happens to the sword if its soul decides he prefers being human?))…Yeah, probably should have specified.
And fair point. But again, I don’t see the overall quest/plot ending in failure. Darkest hour moments? Sure. But I feel like we can probably expect a fairly happy ending.
Ah, good ol’ “cleric’s feather fall”
psshhhh who needs bones
RIP erin’s cape. i love Alinua’s expression.
not the c a b b a g e s!
Alt text: m y c a b b a g e s
Dammit even the box is labeled “kabages”
