The irony is that Tess did actually have something important to say.
Oh my Kendal’s expressions in the first three panels, they’re amazing. He won’t be able to place Tess’s voice and thunder but I wonder if he recognises Alinua’s screams.
Nice to see these two getting along so well, Dainix seems comfortable and maybe a little envious of Kendal’s non-human status and Kendal seems very chill about the entire predicament. However when he realises the threat Tynan poses I’m expecting all that chill to evaporate.
Backstory and character motivation incoming? Maybe it’ll clue in more details as to why Caliban needs Dainix out now rather than later. I theorise there’s some job that needs doing in the Rauan desert; that roundish desert on Erin’s map in 1-8-1 that the gang is planing on going around. I think the gang will journey with Dainix into the desert, meet the fire lizards from the sketches and help Dainix with his task in exchange for safe passage through the desert. Maybe they’ll be hounded by Paladins at this point and this short cut would throw them off too.

To be fair, that may be why he hasn’t… If I went to sleep and was immediately soul-snatched so that I could eavesdrop on a madwoman plotting the apocalypse, before being thrown back into my body by the entity that had taken me in the first place, I think I’d be a little hesitant to close my eyes again, too…

I am very excited tp figure out what is up with Dainix’s eye. Maybe I’m reading into things, but the framing on the last panel fascinates me. We haven’t seen anything of Dainix’s right eye because of helmets and bandages. But here, we have a washcloth covering it instead at the exact moment Kendal asked a deeply personal question. The combination makes me think we’re heading into very interesting character moments. What is up with the eye? Why is it covered? Is Dainix covering anything else up? How will these two elements be tied into each other?? I am waiting with excitement!!
