I can confirm: having floofy hair absolutely serves as a cape substitute when needed (although i would certainly do well with a cape, were one available).
Actually, a roof has to be able to support the weight of the people who built it. Otherwise they would need some really fancy setup in order to get the shingles on.
It’s safe as long as you don’t get to close to the edge, but if the day is hot enough you might damage the tar that’s used on the shingles.
Aslo, those look like clay shingles, and those aren’t actually glued down, so if you put too much weight on one, it would crack where it’s handing on a nail or whatever, slide on the shingle below it, and send you on a one way trip to terra firma. Some might be held more securely than that, I know slates better than tiles, but slates are just held on by two nails that go through holes in the corners, and if those corners crack off, the slate falls.
Oh man I love her already. and I swear it’s not just because she breaks that infuriating rule that a badass is incapable of being clumsy from time to time.
I don’t know what’s funnier, Erin not noticing PML falling or Falst noticing but not being alarmed at.
Oh yeah, she was looking for Erin wasn’t she. Maybe Erin will find himself being chased by both Paladins and PML at the same time. Or maybe she was hired by someone to contact or protect him.
I like the feelings you can gauge from the people around the purple gang and theorising what they are thinking. Is the elf staring with contempt at the Ferin Falst or jealousy over their obvious high status? Is the deer Ferin looking bored because the job he’s doing is dull or is he downcast, maybe one of the prison inmates trying to work off his sentence?
Also it’s nice to see a young family here, the city of Zuurith has issues but it’s still a home for people.
I love how on brand that is for both characters. Erin’s from a city, I think, so he’s probably used to ignoring certain sounds/events that occur around him. And Fault’s entire outlook on life seems to be based on the thought “If it doesn’t concern me then it isn’t important to me”.
Maybe PML (I believe her name is Tess) needs Erin’s skill to help her with something? He *is* a very powerful and well-known mage.
I love how Red chose purple robes for Erin, as it was always the symbol of royalty, so of course the Elemental Magus himself would have one, plus several spares
The detail of how Falst’s eyes glow just a little bit in the shade, and how his ear perked up at the sound of PML falling but not being particularly concerned is great. I hope Falst gets some more spotlight soon, loved his initial arc and I’m hungry for more
Okay, here’s my prediction:
1. PML will try to talk to Erin about all that Weird Junk that happened in the Storm
2. The dragon cult will overhear this, and attack Erin for being possessed by Void
3. The Zuurith guards will come to the cult’s aid and arrest the floof gang and probably Tess as well (This is where my prediction gets maybe a bit iffy on account of the fact that Erin is an ambassador but idk)
4. something something prison break, something something PML has joined your party
I love how responsible and wise Falst is, Tess is cool but she’s looking for Erin which isn’t a sign of her being a friend of the floof gang right now so he keeps the guard up.
Did anyone else notice the man in green behind Falst? He seems to be looking at the gang. Maybe he belongs to the cult and seeing Erin, Alinua and Falst hanging outside his headquarters suspiciously, he decided to keep an eye on the gang? I don’t know I just feel like we will see him later.
Ohhh yeah I didn’t think of that… But that’s the whole purpose of the cape, making sure Falst doesn’t draw too much attention? Maybe he’s looking at them because of the capes since the capes are probably capes from the academy?
Rereading this after a new revelation in chapter 14: I finally understand why Tess is so surprised here. And it’s not just because she recognized Falst.
Erin: Are you sure I can’t interest you in a cape?
Aliuna: No need, I have my own. *flips back floofy curtain of hair behind her*
I can confirm: having floofy hair absolutely serves as a cape substitute when needed (although i would certainly do well with a cape, were one available).
let’s not forget, alinua has her own fashionable cape if need be! (technically its more of a cloak but no one will notice!)
Erin and Falst with color matching cloaks are too cute :3
Also Tess; you are a disaster xD
Yes, but she’s our disaster
look at that peeerspectiiiiveee
She was like: that floof is familiar.
Also her: *GASP*
HEY
“Hey! Remember me? We fought that dragon… thing together! Hey why are you running away?”
While Falst is trying to get Erin and Alinua to walk faster
Because I don’t know you
Falst be like.
Calling it now, the metal lady would unintentionally cause the gang’s arrest. At the same time we will finally get to officially meet her.
oh, didn’t see your comment, but I came to the same conclusion.
I feel like Tess and Kendal will be arrested, but Erin, Alinua, and Falst will meet and greet the Cult.
Ohh, I didn’t think of this!
But yeah, she isn’t exactly subtle.
Yeah, with that blatant disregard for the rules, she’s probably getting arrested first
I enjoy how color coordinated they all are and inertia is a bitch like always.
hardcore parkour
TESS IS SO CUTE
Welp, so much for blending in. I bet the guards are going to think they are Tess’s accomplices or smth
And this is why you don’t do the rooftop parkour thing: most bits are not designed to hold the weight of an adult or meant to be walked on.
*Except in houses where the roof is also a terrace. But that’s not the usual case and those don’t have slanted tops.
Especially if said adult has a significant amount of metal that is part of their body.
Probably but a gentleman does not remark on a woman’s weight.
But let’s just be glad that she’s durable enough for this to be funny.
Actually, a roof has to be able to support the weight of the people who built it. Otherwise they would need some really fancy setup in order to get the shingles on.

PML?
Punchy Metal Lady
An epithet worthy of Homeric verse.
γροθιά που ρίχνει μεταλλικό κορίτσι
grothiá pou ríchnei metallikó korítsi
According to google translate.
I though PML meant Pretty Metal Lady.
TL;DR: So this is why they didn’t let me climb trees in elementary school.
Climbing trees is worth the occasional CRASH
I know, it’s too fun to outlaw! Bad Zuurith!
I love how Red chose purple robes for Erin, as it was always the symbol of royalty, so of course the Elemental Magus himself would have one, plus several spares
Awesome then that Falst gets to wear purple (which is his color by the way, he looks great)
The detail of how Falst’s eyes glow just a little bit in the shade, and how his ear perked up at the sound of PML falling but not being particularly concerned is great. I hope Falst gets some more spotlight soon, loved his initial arc and I’m hungry for more
So close, yet so, so far away
hehe punchymetallady go SCRRRR
Okay, here’s my prediction:
1. PML will try to talk to Erin about all that Weird Junk that happened in the Storm
2. The dragon cult will overhear this, and attack Erin for being possessed by Void
3. The Zuurith guards will come to the cult’s aid and arrest the floof gang and probably Tess as well (This is where my prediction gets maybe a bit iffy on account of the fact that Erin is an ambassador but idk)
4. something something prison break, something something PML has joined your party
I wonder if Erin can just deny that they know Tess, this is true and he’s of a status that he’d be believed plus Falst knows she’s a liability.
I like how Falst has his left ear perked up in the last panel. “I hear shenanigans, and I don’t like it.”
I think it’s more confusion than anything else. I mean, people do tend to be confused when they hear a loud crash in the middle of the street.
The real question is did Falst see who fell?
If he has special hearing, then he probably heard her, and likely recognized her voice from the dragon fight earlier
Falst: “No, no, no! I hear nothing!”
Tess: “HEY!”
Falst: “Noooooooooothiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.”
Alinua: “Oh Falst there is a nice lady talking to you! Do you know her?”
Falst: Sweating Profusely
I love how responsible and wise Falst is, Tess is cool but she’s looking for Erin which isn’t a sign of her being a friend of the floof gang right now so he keeps the guard up.
Did anyone else notice the man in green behind Falst? He seems to be looking at the gang. Maybe he belongs to the cult and seeing Erin, Alinua and Falst hanging outside his headquarters suspiciously, he decided to keep an eye on the gang? I don’t know I just feel like we will see him later.
Or maybe I’m just paranoid.
Yeah maybe, but maybe he’s just looking at Falst because he’s a ferin.
(Also, that’s an elf, not a man)
Ohhh yeah I didn’t think of that… But that’s the whole purpose of the cape, making sure Falst doesn’t draw too much attention? Maybe he’s looking at them because of the capes since the capes are probably capes from the academy?
Actually, the cape is meant to draw attention to Falst as a guard to a foreign emissary. The status should protect him.
Ah, ok!
But I guess it still doesn’t protect him from mean looks… which must be what the man in green is giving Falst :(.
I thought he was just looking at the PML who just feel off a roof
And this year zuurithan parkour champion is…
Falst sorta looks like Sun Wukong to me in that last panel. Except, you know, Sun’s not usually that careful.
See? THIS is why rooftop parkour is outlawed in the first place!
Thanks to that gorgeous shading in the top two panels, I now have a crush on Punchy Metal Lady. I mean, I kinda did before, but y’know.
I just want to wish you good luck on your AP Exams/finals/whatever, if you have them. 🙂
I love these moments so much!
Rereading this after a new revelation in chapter 14: I finally understand why Tess is so surprised here. And it’s not just because she recognized Falst.
Also after the chapter-14 revelation: “eh, no need to bother turning around” about Erin is *painful*–they come so close to meeting up
