I assume Alinua’s drain the life magic out of the crystal like she did for the chimera we saw earlier. Considering she’s Alinua, she’ll be fine slurping up a bunch of life magic.
I’m guessing this is why he left its destruction to the life magic expert of the group. She would know best how to handle it (or at least, the days-old paragon hero believes so).
Kendal: And by deal with this, I mean use the power of paragon hugs.
Also, I love the idea that Alinua is represented by a scalpel (cuz healing) and Kendal by a sword. So what’s Erin? Something scholarly and/or arrogant that starts with an S . . .

Erin: sigil (I think this is most appropriate–it’s a lesser known word, but covers both Erin’s scholarliness (nerdiness) and his magic. Also, like VRA said, it’s a synonym for rune and Erin’s name (kinda) has “rune” in it)

Good idea! I don’t think she’ll join the team, though. If you look at the Time Travel trope talk, there’s a picture of the full team at 9:40 (which is why I’m “absolutely positive” Falst is gonna join) and you can’t see Tess in it. Too bad–Spark is a cool nickname.
Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes the best way to teach someone the error of their ways/beliefs/worldview is to your truth by beating them half to death.

Falst may have experience dealing with mages but that face in panel 6 is looking a little nervous against the godling. Kendal may be a sword-less paragon but there’s no guarantee he’ll be soft on lion-boy.

Kendal’s face is of pure resignation.
He was going to talk about it but now it’s all kicking ass and diplomacy has gone out the window and he’s clearly bummed out.
And we still don’t know the reasons behind all this mess. For all we know Falst was just trying to solve a problem and probably mutate himself into a human.
To me, it looks less like resignation and more like determination, to redouble his efforts to de-escalate the situation. (Though this interpretation is a bit filtered due to my Kendal-favoring bias, so this is just my opinion.)
I started this webcomic a few weeks ago, and now I feel like dancing every time its updated. Also, has anyone seen in the sketches how it kinda looks like Kendal’s wearing an eye patch?

Look again at the chapter cover… Also IMHO if she tries to take the energy out of it she might activate whatever spell the crystal is inscribed with…
