This really highlights that Jolon really has no real interest in helping Falst, just using him for his own gain. Our dude literally went and called him a stupid monster that this “master” was “generous” enough to offer his help to. I really hope Falst listens to Kendal because Jolon isn’t being generous, just an asshat
Jolon’s speech sounds like every abusive SO ever. “You’re alone; I’m willing to put up with you but nobody else is. Stick with me and maybe you get fixed, but go anywhere else and nobody will touch you.” Blech. I wanna kick that dude.
And the fact that his speech is filled with bigotry makes it even worse. Jolon sounds to me like a mixture between an abusive partner and an internet troll…

Judging from the arm positions, Galdr’s arm is on top of Kendal’s, making Kendal the leader in the traditional closed hold in ballroom. This being said, Kendal will absolutely be dipping Galdr!

100% agree with Jeremy Dinsmore, Jolon’s dialogue of how he puts Falst down and makes him think there’s no option but to come with him is very abusive.
Glad to see Kendal calling him out immediately, I didn’t see him and Falst having this less-than-human link between them but I’m all for it.
Hopefully power of friendship will turn this fight around, with Gleicann not getting involved and V.D. unlikely to show up Falst is the only one left to turn the tables.

Me reading the page: Jolon is an asshole, but what he says sounds more believable than what Kendal is saying. Faust is NOT born to be alone (and neither am I), but if someone said to me what Jolon says in panel 4, I would almost believe them. What Kendal says is sweet, and hopefully Falst will listen, but it’s too over the top for me to believe

Honestly, if it weren’t for the angry comment section, Jolon would have me convinced he is Falst’s logical option. I mean, not the mentally healthy option, but the logical best shot at re-humaning Falst.
However, why take the humanising option when you can have the tail and relative strength, agility and senses of a lion?
Mmmm, that leader-lancer dynamic between Falst and Kendal is shaping up nicely. Similar superior physical abilities, similar alienation issues, both driven. But one is pure and a bit immature while the other is embittered and probably quite resourceful, one strives on others’ behalf while the other, up until now at least, was looking out for himself; one is somewhere between human and god while the other is somewhere between human and beast. And they started off with physical conflict as well as an angst-off. It’s sublime.
Red has set up a very interesting character dynamic between the two of them. I’m very interested to see how it plays out in the story.
Kendal; both a man and a god.
Falst; both a man and an animal.
This is the story of their becoming human together.

I was thinking about what all the party roles were in the group, and was debating whether Erin was smart guy or Lancer. After seeing this analysis, I’m more convinced that Erin is smart guy and Falst is the Lancer.
Bonus: I’m calling it now, that paladin dude with wings we saw a few chapters back will join the group as the Tank
Having watched Code Geass: Akito the Exiled this year, I must admit Falst’s arc is reminding me of Ryo, Ayano, and Yukiya’s arc. Spoilers for the first episode in the next paragraph.
They attempt to kidnap General Smilas so they can trade him for Knightmare Frames, but when Leila Malcal and Akito Hyuga foil their plan, Ryo explains that what he and his friends really want is a place to belong. With their only other option being death via an air stike, the trio take Leila up on her offer to join the Wyvern Squad.
Falst wants a place to belong. A place where he will no longer be alone. When he realizes it’s possible to obtain that without having to become human, he’ll join the team. Found Family Trope, activate!
After Jolon’s whole “you are alone and i am the only one to help you” speech, Falst’s eyes got noticeably dimmer. Is it just a lighting thing, or was it deliberate to show his feelings?
