i love the fifth and sixth panels they kinda remind me of Monkey (Sun Wukong)
also, sidenote, we we right again
also also, Falst’s eyes are doing the cat thing
also also also, I have no idea why im adding so many alsos
The OSP community is probably the only one that would see a comic character and think, “Oh! That looks like Sun Wukong! Haha, cute, I love those panels.” (Also, I absolutely agree with you. (Also also, alsos are awesome. (Also also also, “also” doesn’t look like a word anymore. Love it when that happens.)))
ah! the past few updates ive been thinking maybe it was dr jolon but i didnt wanna actually say anything until it was confirmed lion boi didn’t do it…… bumping that up to an Official Theory now ?
I think this might be one of my favorite pages: Falst’s confusion, Alinua being flustered- just everything about it is so good (not to mention the art and lighting and everything) I love this comic so much
1. Alinua blush
2. I bet Falst is confused because life magic… isn’t supposed to work on him. But Alinua doesn’t know that, and she just healed him with her fancy chimeric magic.
I think Erin is the only one in the group that knows life magic shouldn’t work on ferins (and is probably screaming off-screen at both Alinua and Falst right now)
I would like to point out that ferin are only RESISTANT to magic, not IMMUNE to it. I think Falst was confused because they’ve been fighting and now she healed his injuries.
Can I just mention that, yes, yes this page is adorable with falst doing cat expressions and alinua blushing, but it’s hilarious how the text size goes up and down accordingly especially with Alinua’s “let me just fix that for you”
Don’t worry Lion-boi, every new member of the floofy squad gets all kinds of confused before their induction.
I’m in agreement with everyone else; blushing, embarrassed, ear-drooping Alinua is amazing.
The whole page reads great, size of each panel reflecting the pace, size and quantity of dialogue for volume and more panels in general to showcase the changing moods.
Now is Falst confused as to why a mage’s life magic, not the lacrima, healed him? How they were fighting just a second ago and now they’re helping him? The fact they’re helping him, a predator Ferin, at all?
Falst: … I’m confused.
Alinua: Well, since you didn’t make the chimeras and Kendal will probably forgive the treetop injury when we first met. So we have no reason to be hostile to you.
Erin: Ahem. My bag.
Alinua: Two-thirds of us have no reason to be hostile to you.
He will. Doubtlessly. Red drew the team from this comic in the time travel trope talk (you can clearly identify Kendal, Alinua, and Erin) and Falst is definitely part of the band (he’s even easier to identify). The Collector is in the band too, I might add.
In response to TheUnknownGame: Good point. I still think she drew the band, not just major characters, but you might be right. I’m still 97.3% sure Falst will join the band, though.
Also, the Collector isn’t actually irredeemable. Well, probably. Our understanding of who she is and what she does is loose enough that we can’t assume she *actually* destroyed the city or all those souls she captured. (I mean, I’m pretty sure she did, but not positive, and Falst has shown us that we can’t just assume someone is evil. We’ll give her the benefit of doubt until we have further exposition.)
Besides, she’d be very, very useful in taking down the Void Dragon with all her knowledge about capturing souls and stuff–heck, she actually might be researching so she can do just that, it wouldn’t surprise me–so she might join the team without being redeemed. It does happen. The protagonists gurdgingly agree to work with someone downright evil to take down the greater evil. The lesser evil doesn’t stop being evil, they just join the ranks of protagonists without joining the ranks of the heroes.
Actually, that would be really interesting to see. Great, now I’m kind of hoping for that . . .
That would be pretty interesting, them and the Collector teaming up not for redemption but to further their common cause of keeping VD sealed. I could see her being more comfortable, maybe even happy, with the situation than the others as it means she can observe Kendal and Alinua, two beings she’d be very interested in studying.
They’d hate the situation, bring up her past misdeeds, she’d brush it off in her affably, unconnected way. I could see her finding the name they gave her, The Collector, fitting and embraces the moniker.
No, it’s definitely the Collector. Red drew her using the same color green, the same hair shape and robe shape and height. It’s definitely the Collector.
But you’re right, there’s another girl with an eye patch in the drawing of the band. Can’t wait to meet her!
That’s another one, and he is Named, spoilers (Crucible), he is an Ignan who can appear in the fireproof sketch. But there is sword lady, who seems like the creator, we still have no mf clue who she is.
I have a theory, what if Jolon is creating the chimeras. Think about it for a second. A high academy doctor living in a small village that just happens to be in the forest of a forest spirit. Has a huge lacrima that was so well protected that someone could steal it then immediately puts the blame on a Ferin. Ones after them in a brief frame but is not seen after that and he kind of looks a little bit like Falst. But without the glasses obviously. He was academically trained so he would know about these things and maybe he has a connection with Falst or Falst came to him before and asked him to turn him human after all, how would Falst even know about the lacrima, no one else that we know of could make the chimeras.
“brb, updating the character page to pull a certain someone out of the ‘antagonists’ section”
Nice try, Red. We already know you did that on Friday. _maybe even pointed it out.
Come on you people.
You keep forgetting that being magically inert just makes you more resistant to magic and unable to be a mage, IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU IN ANY WAY IMMUNE. It’s clearly stated in the extra content. A person who is open to a certain element can weild it but can be affected internally directly by it, so a rock welder can summon or manipulate rocks but could be attacked internally by a more skilled rock mage.
If you are inert you still get hurt by magic rocks.
And, it is absolutely white on black stated in the clearest possible way that nobody is functionally inert to life magic because the body acknowledges that it has to grow and heal so even magically inert people can be manipulated internally by life magic.
It is literally written in the extra content.
It isn’t even speculation.
Just plainly stated there.
Nobody is inert to life magic.
Bam.
No exceptions.
You used a dangerous creature’s attack as a distraction to steal from someone (and attack their friend), and they thought you had something to do with said creature. Who’d’ve thought?
Guandaside:
I mean, there are some people who are harder or inmune, with specially woven souls. Red said it on Tumblr.
But ferin aren’t inert to it.
Also, sorry but a mage is more susceptible to other mages inner influence, it is more prone to elemental corruption, but no one can, for example, bloodbend another.
Hope this helps
If you look at this chapter from the Archive page, it shows a broken lacrima with stuff pouring out of it. I think that stuff will either be a deadly force that murders people, or it will somehow get attracted to Alinua/Falst and do something with them.
Alinua’s “Wait, oh crap” moment is beautiful. We knew it was coming.
Also, Falst is so cute on this page.
Suddenly Falst looks like he might be fated for a hug or seven. Is it just me or did he get a whole lot more floofy.
Yeah, I think he did get floofier. Because floofiness directly corresponds to how close to being a protagonist a character is.

ahhhhh flustered Alinua
and also i’m pretty sure this might be the first time someone showed him kindness so he was confused or-

OH, this was goooood… I’m so relieved. Doc is a lot more sus than before now.
Jolon sus
*Dr. Jolon was ejected.*
ah! the past few updates ive been thinking maybe it was dr jolon but i didnt wanna actually say anything until it was confirmed lion boi didn’t do it…… bumping that up to an Official Theory now ?

Oh how I wish I could like this comment.
I’ve been reminded of the end of chapter 8, when Erin screamed at a tree after Falst stole his bag
Wait but if he knew life magic didn’t work on him why would he try to change himself with it
Probably because he was desperate to be human. Wow I feel bad for him.
I would like to point out that ferin are only RESISTANT to magic, not IMMUNE to it. I think Falst was confused because they’ve been fighting and now she healed his injuries.
I agree with Mat. It makes more sense that way
Can I just mention that, yes, yes this page is adorable with falst doing cat expressions and alinua blushing, but it’s hilarious how the text size goes up and down accordingly especially with Alinua’s “let me just fix that for you”
Also the “brb, updating the character page to pull a certain someone out of the “antagonists” section” is one day late, we noticed it already ;P
ALSO ALSO sword is slowly getting smaller in the background :DDD
tfw you’ve gotten all worked up and then realize you’re wrong.
Don’t worry Lion-boi, every new member of the floofy squad gets all kinds of confused before their induction.

Lol once again need a like button
And when Erin gets his bag back, he hugs it.
Here is the real question, will Falst join the floofy squad? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET IT BE SO
He will. Doubtlessly. Red drew the team from this comic in the time travel trope talk (you can clearly identify Kendal, Alinua, and Erin) and Falst is definitely part of the band (he’s even easier to identify). The Collector is in the band too, I might add.
She was probably just drawing major characters there, not necessarily protagonists. The Collector is already irredeemable.
I mean, would you team up with someone who casually destroyed AN ENTIRE CITY for research purposes??
In response to TheUnknownGame: Good point. I still think she drew the band, not just major characters, but you might be right. I’m still 97.3% sure Falst will join the band, though.
Also, the Collector isn’t actually irredeemable. Well, probably. How would Falst make the chimera in the first place? Do you just need to touch it to something and it will mutate?
This is exactly what I was hoping forXD So relatable and hilarious!
And now he joins them on The Journey to the West! Also, wasn’t Falst with one of the heroes in the groups Red drew in her Trope Talk’s?
So was the collector, so… idk
No that was another girl
No, it’s definitely the Collector. Red drew her using the same color green, the same hair shape and robe shape and height. It’s definitely the Collector.
But you’re right, there’s another girl with an eye patch in the drawing of the band. Can’t wait to meet her!

Nah this is the girl who appears in the very last sketch on this site
Falst shows up in several trope talks, actually
i knew that it wasn’t falst
( i still think jolon gonna get blasted by someone dropping it too hard
I have a theory, what if Jolon is creating the chimeras. Think about it for a second. A high academy doctor living in a small village that just happens to be in the forest of a forest spirit. Again, I’ve suspected Jolon for a while now; I believe he might be creating chimeras to injure travelers, ergo increasing business for his clinic.
That’s a great theory!
This is a really good theory.
Wooo now be besties XD

Hey Red, speaking of the character section, you already given us his name
AHHHahaahaaaa NOW HUG

Blush Elf is best elf!
Doctor Jolon is now the number one suspect. I fully expect a villain monologue.
I imagine Erin is somehow stumbling his way down with a science kit he hid somewhere.
If you look at this chapter from the Archive page, it shows a broken lacrima with stuff pouring out of it. I think that stuff will either be a deadly force that murders people, or it will somehow get attracted to Alinua/Falst and do something with them.
Aww Falst is so cute in the second panel
TL;DR: The floofcrew and Lionboi go after the REAL enemy: miscommunication. Apparently, the chimera mum ripoff isn’t Lionboi. Everybody’s confused.
Me too bud…
Alt text: you and me both, brother

Alinua’s ashamed blushing face is so freaking cute
