Oh yeah, that’ll totally happen. Big Z is known for his politeness, his humility- especially towards mortals- and his general lack of aggression towards enemies.
“I will see it done, my lord,” Pryder says.
“If you have further concerns that desperately require my attention, signal the nearest sentinel.” Zuurith raises his chain-whip. “This area will be unsafe until my work is done.”
“Y-yes, of course,” Pryder stutters, hurrying quickly away as Zuurith starts to swing his chain.
With a whizt, he lets it go, dropping to his knees from the strength of the throw. The chain whips through the air, hitting the Arena wall and bouncing, cracking the stone into perfectly shaped cubes.
“That looks like a lot of work,” someone says.
“Stone must be quarried,” Zuurith states as he gathers up his chain. “Efficiency is paramount, and I do not tire.” He turns his head a little bit. “Guests are not presently welcome. Assist if you must, then leave.”
“Oh, I will,” the person says. “I just need you to tell me where I’m going.”
Zuurith looks around fully, seeing the Collector standing behind him with a chimera by her feet.
Also, I think the first thought that everyone had when they saw that first green-and-black colored speech bubble was something like “Ooooh no Zuurith no that’s very very bad”
Quarrying stone, Zuurith labours himself,
More than the struggle’s director.
Behind him as he throws his axehead ona chain,
With her chimeras comes the Collector.
Hm… seems like she doesn’t want to take Zuzu. Good news for him and his people, not so good for Kendal that he’ll probably just tell her which way the floof squad went.
Might have something to do with that MASSIVE tree…and other Ali-based shenanigannery. If she’s searching for the Life primordial she doesn’t need Zuurith, just information.
Hear me out. Zuurith and the Collector with Megabyte and Hexadecimal’s VAs. That chimera can be Scuzzy.
I actually predicted the Arena would be destroyed for its stone. Zuurith is practical, coldly so at times, and right now he has the problem of a lot of stone needed for rebuilding and quarrying new stone will take too long with limited manpower. He also has a partially destroyed arena, made of good stone I’d reckon, that isn’t being used right now, and maybe never will again, so it’s only logical to use its stone to rebuild. In any case, the Arenamaster is definitely out of that line of work.
Oh, wow. I wasn’t actually expecting the Collector herself to be in Zuurith; she must be pretty sure about her safety and ability to get out of there. Big Z’s evacuated the area so it’s just them here, but we don’t know how many chimeras she’s brought with her or where they are. If she’s brought a lot, and are ready to attack a weak city, that could be the threat she needs to persuade Zuurith to give her information about Kendal, and maybe the one who grew the tree too.
If she figures out their general direction, then we have a big problem. The singing caves have entrances all across the world; were it not for the cave corruption, crawlers, and other hazards, it would be a perfect fast travel system. But the Collector is seemingly immune or very resistant to all that, so she could travel through the caves and close the gap between herself and the heroes very quickly indeed. The gang, Shrike and/or the Paladins may even be forced into an Enemy Mine situation if she shows up at the right time.
Being immortal, I’m sure the Collector feels relatively safe anywhere she goes. But I doubt she’s here to collect Zuurith’s soul; if she can’t figure out Vash yet then there’s no real point in stealing another god until she’s ready.
Being immortal doesn’t mean she is invulnerable, but I think her healing factor is pretty high given that she knows Life’s real name. *pauses to think about how she survived a knife to the stomach* . . . Yea yea, it’s going to be difficult to destroy her form 😬
Prediction: the Collector, June, Shrike, and many others all arrive at the Floof Gang’s destination at once, but the Floof Gang is nowhere to be found. Turns out they got blown wayyyyy off course during a storm, and crash landed all the way on the othe rend of the continent, much to the frustration of literally everyone involved.
I don’t think she’s going to harm Zuurith… yet. But if she learns that Vash still has a vessel and a sword that tether him to the outside world… Oh, no, Kendal…
Well, crap. I…don’t know that Zuurith will give that information freely. But if she threatened his already-weakened people…in his ‘new leaf’ kind of mindset, he might.
Either way, this does not bode well for Zuurith OR our heroes.
I KNOW I LIKE ZUURITH NOW she’d better not go steal his soul! That would make me VERY sad!
But also, why does she need to tell Zuurith anything? I mean she can be very polite when she wants to be, so maybe she’s just passing through the city. Maybe she figures Zuurith is the least likely god to care about Vash’s imprisonment so this is the safest city for her. Also because it kinda got destroyed.
But actually I’d like to see Zuurith and Vash stuck in an underground cavern sniping at each other 🤭 that would be funny 🤭
I think when Vash briefly possessed Kendal, it left a trail to Zuurith that the Collector could follow from her underground lair. She came here looking for Vash’s old body, but it doesn’t seem to be around anymore. Being the charming, polite, gentlewoman scholar that she is, it makes sense that she would then go up to whomever seems to be in charge and ask if they can point her in the right direction!
What I’m REALLY worried about is that she’ll be chatting with Zuurith, notice all those citizens filing into the broken mountain, and then suddenly a lightbulb will go off in her head and she’ll be like “Oh hey! What a great opportunity to expand my god collection!”
Seconding a commenter above — I don’t think she’s taking Zuurith, she’s just following Vash’s trail. That’s bad for everyone… but at least Zuurith won’t have to deal with a second calamity.
Wouldn’t it be a pisser if she was actually there to help and all the good guys would be going “How dare you introduce nuance into our parable about good and evil?”
The Collector gives me chills. I’m glad Zuurith isn’t her goal and she’s not going to be able to sever his connection to his people by healing the stone of the mountain. Too many of his citizens aren’t in the mountain.
I suspect she’s figured out that Vash has a living tie in Kendal, and her experiments are going to continue to fail and Vash will continue to be “resilient” so long as Kendal is alive. Which is not good news at all for the Floofs.
What is Zuurith going to do here? Are we looking at a “he’s had character development — all done!” moment?
He appears to be quarrying stone out of what used to be the walls of the prison. This would probably be so that other people can use the stone for rebuilding more important things.
Oh, I don’t mean “what is he doing here” — it’s clear he’s quarrying stone. I mean “what is he going to do?” as in “so, is he going to just casually point the direction Kendal & Co. went and get back to work, or is he going to get all Zuurith-y, create trouble with a very dangerous Collector, and we lose a god who’s just started his redemption arc”? Neither are a good prospect.
I mean, he could pick up that the Collector’s evil, and that the Floof Squad, despite their chaos, are trying to do good…. so he could intentionally stall the Collector for good reasons…
But that may just be wishful thinking…
Okay, so it seems like she’s just here to figure out where Kendall’s group is going, as she must have learned they exist from Vash. But….this means that the Collector is hunting for the floof squad now.
We’ve got Shrike’s crew and the Collector now both hunting the floof squad, things aren’t looking good.
Zuurith will probably be fine, like others have said, assuming she hasn’t finished dissecting Vash then adding a second City God soul doesn’t really help. But she might mess him up if he’s rude, she seems a little on edge, given Vash’s recent escape.
Not necessarily. If she knows about Kendall, she might be looking to take Zuurith to figure out if he’s an anomaly or not. She left before Kendall awakened. I don’t think she’d make that mistake twice…
So the Collector seems to just need to know the floof squads location, not trying to kill Zuurith. But this also means she is hunting the floof squad, which is very, very bad. We now have both Shrike and the collector on their tails, it doesn’t look good.
I will second the thought that she doesn’t need a second City God soul, if she hasn’t finished dissecting Vash.
. . . What if they teamed up, then the Collector double crossed them and tried to get her hands on a part of light dragon from the archive lady? *theorising intensifies*
Depends… Zuurith already knows that the other gods are concerned about her, and he knows that those other gods consider Kendal to be their best chance against her. Does his annoyance with Kendal and Vash outweight the risk of betraying those who wish to see Kendal succeed?
Another factor. Zuurith is in a precarious situation right now, with a good amount of his city destroyed and his people exposed. Would he risk his own freedom to protect the interests of others?
Yet another question. Can the Collector even steal him away right now? She has the dagger, but only the one, and I doubt she’d take a detour back home to drop Zuurith off with Vash. Not to mention that she might only have the space for one god at a time. Wouldn’t it be awkward to imprison Zuurith and free Vash, after all that work she put in to trapping him 😛
Also the way she captured Vash implies that she would need to kill the vast majority, if not all, of Zuurith’s citizens. Some other commenters have pointed out ways she might do that, but it would definitely be more difficult.
Ah. Well. “Tell me where I’m going” sounds an AWFUL lot like she’s not there for Zuurith and is instead after Kendal and company. Though, depending on how this goes down… I could see her taking Zuurith too. Expanding her sample size and all that.
I’m sure Vaash would be THRILLED to have Zuurith as a cellmate, lol.
I just want to point out that Zuurith here is in the perfect situation to pull a “Nope, no idea where he went. Threatening me? Please, that’s completely unnecessary. Everyone knows I HATE Vash, of COURSE I’d tell you if I knew…”
“Look, my avatar was dissolved at the time, I just got my ass handed to me and there was the storm and they left very suddenly while I was trying to keep my city from falling into complete chaos around me. I am honestly not sure other than ‘away’.”
And how will she react to Alinua?? Will she be able to recognize her as a vessel of Life?? Will she part the ocean rather than use a boat to catch up?? I can’t wait!!
Also, who else remembers Vash telling Kendal to leave because his “soul is unique, she’ll come for you if she knew you existed.” (paraphrased)
She may not want to kill him, necessarily. She may be after his soul too, because its not the soul of a god, but it’s the only soul, that we know of, that, just, found a body. Also, the Collector may show some interest in Alinua (because of Life, obvi), Dainix (SOUL fire), and Erin (had his soul bonded to an Elemental? May be able to study the thing that killed Life? I’m not sure the Collector will pass that up). So yeah, problem.
SHESSSSSS BACK
also imagine if zurrith gets captured and the collector has to physically separate their prisons because they keep screaming at each other
Kinda calling that big Z might sacrifice himself for his people just now, if the collector starts closing the mountain on them. He‘s just been humbled dramatically by his failure to protect them, so i feel like he might do it partly out of duty/low self esteem, but also to best Vash by having his people at least survive.
The collector has figured out Vash’s trick and is looking for Our Boy now. She’s not here for Zuurith and just asking for directions. It is well possible that he won’t give the directions Just Because. Then again, he has little to gain from hiding it. This is a test of his new character.
Kendal’s a red herring. She’s been hunting the Life primordial, and whaddaya know, there’s a big-ass tree that has no business being there. Vash was a means to an end. So is Kendal. Alinua’s the prize…and her quarry.

OH FUCK! She’s here!
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…
Zuurith, do not make sudden moves, I don’t think your body is built to last. Be polite and humble and you might just walk away from this unscathed.
Oh yeah, that’ll totally happen. Big Z is known for his politeness, his humility- especially towards mortals- and his general lack of aggression towards enemies.
Ah yes, totally
Oh of course, the core of his character.
It would be pretty funny if the collector left behind a trail of decarnated god bodies.
oh shid

Did he? Did he really?
I mean, he just started caring about his citizens. He’s a bit “rough on the edges”, but instead of prisons he’s building houses now.

How does she know where the group has been? Has she gone out into the world to search, or did she break Vash?
I think she put together the massive storm that destroyed Zuurith and Vash’s sudden/brief disappearance and decided to do some sleuthing
Might have something to do with that MASSIVE tree…and other Ali-based shenanigannery. If she’s searching for the Life primordial she doesn’t need Zuurith, just information.
Uh oh UH OH
well this will surely end well for everyone!!
It’s fine. FINE.

Prediction: the Collector, June, Shrike, and many others all arrive at the Floof Gang’s destination at once, but the Floof Gang is nowhere to be found. Zuurith, for the second time this week: “…Why do I hear boss music?”
This is becoming an unwelcome pattern *grins*
I don’t think she’s here for Zurith. She’s going to ask him where Kendal went
Things have been really, really bad for Zuurith recently and only getting worst,,,
So, does the collector make anyone else think of Orochimaru? Something about that really smooth pale skin…
*kill bill sirens*
Well fuck
its puss in boots last wish all over again
“Need you to tell me where I’m going” carries the implication that she isn’t here for Zuurith, but likely Kendal. Though I could be mistaken.

AAA NOO not Zuurith I actually like Zuurith now 🙁
One more page of Aurora until I graduate!
Also Oh DeaR
Happy graduation SeaGirl!. Only two more days!
Yayyy! Happy graduation!!!!
YOOOOOO COLLECTOR TIME
I mean yes that’s very bad for our other characters, but I really enjoy the Collector as a character. I’m a sucker for Affably Evil villains haha
.. My gods, she’s a magnificent bastard.
It’s cool that he’s turning the arena into building material. I think it shows he’s seriously committed to change.
I KNOW I LIKE ZUURITH NOW she’d better not go steal his soul! That would make me VERY sad!

Yup 😁

heyyy girlie, you’re looking ominous and foreboding…
Oh crap! Not her!
Run Zuurith, run!
ZUURITH GET OUT QUICKLY
Oh shit…

GREEN DOG CONFIRMED!
That dog is NOT a good boy!
….Actually, I’m worried that she sensed that Life was building a Microscope without her and is going and looking for who has it.
OOOHH cracking theory right here
ZUURITH RUN. I NEVER THOUGHT I’D CARE ABOUT YOU BUT RUN DAMNIT.
I think my comment got eaten so here it is again:
YOOOOO COLLECTOR TIME
I mean I know that’s bad for the situation but I love all of her appearances. I’m a sucker for Affably Evil villains haha
The best kind of villains
Ha ha. This is fine
if not floof, than why floof shaped? (maybe evil floof?)
Well if it isn’t the second main villain.
Depends… Zuurith already knows that the other gods are concerned about her, and he knows that those other gods consider Kendal to be their best chance against her. Does his annoyance with Kendal and Vash outweight the risk of betraying those who wish to see Kendal succeed?

Oh no! I feel bad for what’s probably going to happen, even if he was annoying.
ohhhh no
(i’d say that audibly, but maths homework is a pain in the arse)
OH MY GOD SHES BACK
I know this isn’t good but are we getting another Kendal?????????
Ah. Well. “Tell me where I’m going” sounds an AWFUL lot like she’s not there for Zuurith and is instead after Kendal and company. Though, depending on how this goes down… I could see her taking Zuurith too. Expanding her sample size and all that.
I’m sure Vaash would be THRILLED to have Zuurith as a cellmate, lol.
oh my GOD how you BEEN girlie?
I just want to point out that Zuurith here is in the perfect situation to pull a “Nope, no idea where he went. Threatening me? Please, that’s completely unnecessary. Everyone knows I HATE Vash, of COURSE I’d tell you if I knew…”
If he did that, he would become my favorite character INSTANTLY.
“Look, my avatar was dissolved at the time, I just got my ass handed to me and there was the storm and they left very suddenly while I was trying to keep my city from falling into complete chaos around me. I am honestly not sure other than ‘away’.”
YEAH! FINALLY! The first main antagonist is BACK baby! And presumably in pursuit of kendal acording to the last time we saw her (1.18.27)
And how will she react to Alinua?? Will she be able to recognize her as a vessel of Life?? Will she part the ocean rather than use a boat to catch up?? I can’t wait!!
She looks so intimidating against the sunset tho. Prime villain posing.
Re: zero s2 ost “distortion” playing RN. She’s definitely going after kendal.
3…2…1…
Ohhhhh Nooooo
Also, who else remembers Vash telling Kendal to leave because his “soul is unique, she’ll come for you if she knew you existed.” (paraphrased)

Whelp… He was right about this area being unsafe, just not about Why or for Whom it would be unsafe…
What if
What if the Collector puts Zuurith and Vash in the same blorb prison
And then fall in love- *shot*
*noooOOooOooOoOoOOOOOOOOOO-
SHESSSSSS BACK
also imagine if zurrith gets captured and the collector has to physically separate their prisons because they keep screaming at each other
by they I mean zurrith and Vash btw
YESSSS
Oh yeah, she’s definitely on the hunt for Kendal and the Floof Squad
Kinda calling that big Z might sacrifice himself for his people just now, if the collector starts closing the mountain on them. He‘s just been humbled dramatically by his failure to protect them, so i feel like he might do it partly out of duty/low self esteem, but also to best Vash by having his people at least survive.
Zuurith: *Chuckles* I’m in danger.
uh oh bitch! we’re in danger! 😀
Well good news is i don’t thimk she’s gonna snatch his soul 🙂
Bad news is i think she’s going after kendal and the gang 🙁
The collector has figured out Vash’s trick and is looking for Our Boy now. She’s not here for Zuurith and just asking for directions. It is well possible that he won’t give the directions Just Because. Then again, he has little to gain from hiding it. This is a test of his new character.

what is SHE doing here
Uh oh. The inciting incident is back.
TL;DR: I have come to collect you!
