Basically what I expected the drawback of his draconic form to be, lol. There’s two different jokes I wanna make here, so I’ll just do both.
***
Tynan: HAHAHA!! FOOLS!! NOW THAT I AM A DRAGON, I WILL KILL YOU ALL!!
Tess: Buddy, I was literally *introduced* to this comic kicking the crud out of a lightning dragon with your *exact* color scheme, you are SCREWED!!! xD
***
Tynan: *Transforms into a dragon, thinking that gives him better odds at taking everyone out*
Tess, noted butt-kicker of dragons: YOU FELL FOR IT, FOOL! THUNDER CROSS SPLIT ATTACK!!!
Really hope Dainix gets to step in soon because I feel like he should be one of the major players in this fight but so far, he’s done basically nothing
Tynan: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA! MY EYYYEEEEE!
Dainix: *pffh* Lightweight.
Aha! My though about Tynan’s dragon form being awkward was right. Like the Empire from SW he went for something big and intimidating to inspire fear … but also quite impractical so it falls apart against those who aren’t afraid.
However, while it’s not as effective as it looks, he’s still very powerful and solid in this form. While Tess’s dragon punching track record is good, and maybe knows more about dragon anatomy than Big T, she can’t beat him solo.
Ok, Erin is not going to die and Alinua is right next to him giving the heals and to potentially avoid permanent damage. That should keep V.D. under wraps and might mean Erin is able to rejoin the battle later, or at least be conscious for the predicted Dainix-Crucible light show.
Tynan: Not the eyes again! What is it with you people and the eyes?
Tess: Its your own fault, dude. You are not supposed to make the weak body point extra big and glowy. But that’s just the first of your mistakes.
Tynan: What?!
Tess: The second mistake was turning into a dragon. I am Tess the Stormbreaker. But I am also Tess the Dragon-decker. And whose holes are about to be decked?
The dragon screams from the pain in its eye-
It cannot afford to rebuild,
Realises Tess, as her brother slowly heals
She grins, in dragon-slaying skilled.
@Bush Guardian, now that we have 3 poets, what we really need is someone who can make the poems into music.
I’m cracking up both at Kendal hanging on to Tynan’s face for DEAR LIFE like a cat with his claws in a cardigan, and also at Tess referring to Tynan’s humanoid incarnation as his “little body.” Get him where it hurts, girl!
Tynan really is a fool. He should’ve taken the transformation stun to take out Alinua, but he’s mostly ignored her. Everyone knows you take out the white mage first!
i’m not sure that there’s a pokemon move that can be equated to stabbing someone in the eye with a sword, but it looks like tess is getting ready to use thunder punch.
So my online handle among most things is Tess, and I just gotta say
I get nothing but joy at sharing a name with this badass
I have to restrain the urge to gather as many pictures of her and use her as icons for my entire identity
#not to be a lesbian but oh my fucking god. oh my god. jesus fuck #ing christ. oh my god. fucking shit jesus fuck oh my fucking jesus fucking christ. god in heaven. holy fucki ng shit
As cool as this is, I am curious as to why the void dragon hasn’t come out. If this doesn’t count as Erin being back into a corner, I don’t know what does.
Ah, family teamwork. Tynan’s storm form was getting rekt by Erin, so he shifted to an Erin counter, with, appparently, much effort.
…and it just so happens that turning into a solid dragon makes it harder for Erin, sure, but becoming punchable *and* a dragon gets you profoundly hard-countered by Tess.
This is why balanced teamcomps are important, people!
So, um. Everyone’s been asking about sonnets, and I’ve been lurking for a while. I loved the flashback a couple pages ago and I’ve been taking another look at everything attached to it, and I got inspired. So– it’s not about *this specific page*, it’s mostly about 1.12.1 through 1.12.11. I probably couldn’t do one every page but maybe every so often…
So, Happy Birthday Red, here you go everyone, a sonnet:
You walk into my forge to seek a tool,
But metal is the lightest of my craft
For what’s a weapon with no grip to hold it?
You aren’t the first, nor will you be the last,
For once there was a storm who would be king
Who gusted, rained, and thundered through the night
And once there was a citadel named Vash
Who sheltered, sacrificed, and kindled light.
And Tynan’s swords were terror, fear is brittle,
And Vash’s steel selfless, now it breathes.
Don’t ask me when the quench is, that part’s easy;
Ask yourself what hand your blade unsheathes.
Ah — I hear impatience. Ever so.
Don’t fret, just give it half a sef… you’ll know.
@Acevolts — Yes, it’s curious Erin being knocked unconscious hasn’t brought out the Void Dragon.
I think there’s a rule: supervillains are lazy. Call it Supervillain conservation of energy. It takes generosity to put oneself at risk and that’s not a supervillain trait.
I’m thinking that if there are good guys around to take down Tynan!Dragon, the Void Dragon will just let them deal with it. Only if there’s no chance for the heroes to save the day will Walter bestir himself.
My opinion? Dainix will be the one to bring Tynan to his knees and the Void Dragon won’t need to bother.
You fool! You fell for one of the classic blunders! the first is “never throw a storm at Vash,” but the second, only slightly less well known is this: “Never turn into a dragon when DEATH is on the line!”
Also: I love that this is one of our first “Really Big Fights” and its not just Dainax coming in and saving everyone with his level specific power, its everyone getting their Big Damn Hero moments. Keeps me guessing.
@Acevolts and icarusancalion
I think it’s because Erin was only knocked unconscious but nothing more. If Tynan hadn’t instantly shifted his attention away from him and towards Kendal, V.D. would’ve most certainly defended his host. But as it stands, Void is trying not to draw any attention to himself: the best outcome of this fight for him is Tynan killing the rest of the squad.
(Probably) Behind The Scenes of Making this Chapter:
Red: “Haha I’m gonna pull out a dragon and it’s gonna be an epic battle and the readers are gonna be on the edge of their seats until the main characters manage to turn the tide eventually with *Spoilers*”
The comments: “Haha, dragon weak, floof gang go smash”
Tynan: *turns into a dragon*
Tess: *Heavy Breathing Intensifies*
one might call it time for heavy metal (not to suggest anything about Tess’ weight)?
OH LAWD SHE COMIN’
Ooooh, people were right about this form being uncomfortable and hard to maintain.
Also, Tess remains awesome as always.
Basically what I expected the drawback of his draconic form to be, lol. There’s two different jokes I wanna make here, so I’ll just do both.

Evil overlord list nr 34: I will not turn into a snake. It never helps.
Looks like someone’s due for punch!
lmao,, get his ass tess
Or if he was clever, a big glowy FAKE weak point, triply reinforced.
YESSS!!!!!!
It’s time for the Punchy Metal Lady to do what she does best!
I just remembered the first time we saw Tess… OH BOI SHE COMIN’
He cries out in pain
Seems Tynan made a mistake
Tess prepares to fight!
—
Just wanted to say
Thanks for the comments last page 🙂
Happy to be back!
So… The poem trio have formed.
Now we need the poem quartet
Also; haha dragon slayer go brrr
Also also does anyone have an idea for who could be the 4th poem person?
A dragon seems not his smartest move
Tynan has a weak point, Tess will prove
Tynan: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA! MY EYYYEEEEE!
Dainix: *pffh* Lightweight.
Aha! My though about Tynan’s dragon form being awkward was right. Like the Empire from SW he went for something big and intimidating to inspire fear … but also quite impractical so it falls apart against those who aren’t afraid.

tynan did build in two big glowy weak points, Kendal is currently stabbing one of them.
So, I guess dragons are sufficiently snake-like to fall under the evil overlord list rule about turning into snakes?
The bigger they are…
Hey tynan? Warf affect
*And guess whose holes are about to be decked?
Tynan: Mine?
Tess: *smiles*
sent it too soon.
TL;DR: One-punch lady analyzes her competition… Time to use thunder punch.
Odd groups got left, even groups got right.
That means 1, 3, 5 to the left, 2, 4, 6 to the right.
7 and 8 are whelp groups
Tynan: Behold! I have turned into a dragon!
Tess: Dragon deez nuts lmao
Tynan: *instantly dies*
I just want to appreciate how Kendal is still clinging onto Tynan’s face in panel 4. I find that quite funny.
I’m confused. You say “he could have built a glowy weak point…” but he DID, and Kendal STABBED IT.
All is right with the world.
alright Tynan, time to get punchified.
*I need a hero starts playing*
Looks like Tess is going for the “how do you want to do this” blow. This is gonna be good.
The dragon screams from the pain in its eye-
It cannot afford to rebuild,
Realises Tess, as her brother slowly heals
She grins, in dragon-slaying skilled.
@Bush Guardian, now that we have 3 poets, what we really need is someone who can make the poems into music.
A fourth poem person could be LightTalkLimerick or something. I’d do it but I cannot poem.
I’m cracking up both at Kendal hanging on to Tynan’s face for DEAR LIFE like a cat with his claws in a cardigan, and also at Tess referring to Tynan’s humanoid incarnation as his “little body.” Get him where it hurts, girl!
There once was a storm god named Tynan
Who turned into a big-ass dragon
But Tess was there
To punch him /where/?
Too bad for the dragon called Tynan
This is a one-off; if anyone else wants to do limericks for other pages, feel free.
Tess Ruunaser, Stormbreaker, Dragon Puncher. Tynan is now both a storm and a dragon. Double the effectiveness.
Now I’m wondering what Tess would do if the group encountered a friendly dragon. Friendly arm/foreleg punch?
Bluefire:
Judging from the last panel, she’s preparing one of her Serious Series: Serious Punch kind of moves.
Bill Erak:
Actually, the first time we saw Tess was in Windscrest, not the wastelands; she just didn’t have any attention called to her.
Tynan really is a fool. He should’ve taken the transformation stun to take out Alinua, but he’s mostly ignored her. Everyone knows you take out the white mage first!
Tess remains my favorite character. So much love.
What kind of situations will Tess find herself in where the solution is NOT to punch the giant dragon?? None?? I love her
The best way to take down a storm is to hit it at the eye.
Get it? Cause it’s the eye of the storm!
….
(Sorry, wanted to make this joke last page)
Tess wasn’t expecting it to be dragon-punching time, but boy is she glad it’s dragon punching time. Also her asking how Erin’s doing is so sweet.
“Ah! My eye! Why is always the goddamn eye!”
i’m not sure that there’s a pokemon move that can be equated to stabbing someone in the eye with a sword, but it looks like tess is getting ready to use thunder punch.

Hey, HelloHaiku’s back! Sorry I missed it last time, but I it’s good to hear from you again! 🙂
34. I will not turn into a snake. It never helps.
“Evil Overlord List” – Peter Anspach
You pushed the dragon button. You shouldn’t’a did that.

A big glowy weak point? Don’t his eyes count? They’re big, they’re glowy, and they don’t seem to react well to being stabbed with a godly sword.
Hype hype HYPE HYYYYPEEEEE!!! Of course Tynan didn’t remember that “physical form” means “punchable” but oh is it good to be reminded as a reader.
Oh dear. Tess is so cool. I have SUCH a crush. <3
Also, @Ophidiophile, yes, that point on that list DEFINITELY applies here!
This is the second time Red’s updated Aurora on her birthday! Here’s the first. Happy Birthday, Red! https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-8-1/
Red please, my queer little heart is going to beat its way out of my chest if Tess keeps dropping lines like that
(Also happy birthday!)
…, are…, are his eyes not the big glowy weak point?
Chekov’s Dragon? Chekov’s Dragoon? Nah. Tess is Chekov’s Gunman Skill.

To be fair, his Big Glowy Weak Spot seems to be his eyes.
He’s such a considerate villain, really marking it out for our heroes.
Also: I love that this is one of our first “Really Big Fights” and its not just Dainax coming in and saving everyone with his level specific power, its everyone getting their Big Damn Hero moments. Keeps me guessing.

Tess rapidly becoming my favorite character
Awww happy birthday, Red!
@TheSonneteerAppears
Wow. I’m impressed.
The only poetry I can (kind of) do is free form.
He probably shouldn’t have turned into a dragon, but who can say no to an enormous f*ck you dragon?
rule 34 I will not turn into a snake. It never helps.
Okay, but Tess is literally made out of metal. It would hurt to get punched by her even a little
