using super-speed to extricate myself post one-liner is exactly what I would do if I had superpowers. of course then I’d have to hide behind something and listen in to make sure it landed properly and they didn’t fire off a COOLER one-liner when I was gone. it’d be a whole process. maybe it’s a good thing I don’t have superpowers

Mocks Tynan, “ARE YOU DONE ENABLING THEIR DELUSIONS?”
“Yes”, he states, tone level.
He leaps through air, like lightning fast,
The dragon he will defy,
His own shine like his pommel, radiant blue,
As he lunges for its eye.
Hubris, thy name be “get stabbed in the eye”
Time to heal Erin.
Meanwhile Tynan rubs his eyes.

My unspoken theory was wrong, Erin’s still there. The chances of a Void Dragon (dis)appearance are getting slimmer by the page.

Sorry Ali, but you should know by now saying your teammate’s names loudly doesn’t stop them doing their own things, especially Kendal. Tess has the right idea transporting them to Erin for heals; it may also deter V.D. from taking action if Life’s vessel is right next to him keeping the Magus alive.
Looks like Kendal is focusing on attacking the same eye Erin blazed. If they can succeed in damaging it beyond what Tynan can regenerate in this form, that would make for a nifty blind spot for them to exploit.

Makes me wonder why some sort of eye protection never happened in evolution, other than eyelids? I mean it’s a vulnerable and also important body part after all.
I’m still worried for Kendal’s safety, but holy sh*t that is a cool attack.

Evolution doesn’t grant new features simply because they’d be useful; mutations happen by random chance, and most don’t improve the odds of survival if they don’t outright reduce those odds. Natural selection can’t work with mutations that have never happened. …Of course, a voluntary shapeshifter like Tynan who can just give themself eye protection in response to such attacks has no excuse.

@Wys: Because there aren’t many ways to protect eyes without restricting their ability to see. Even humans with technology struggled to do so, until the past century or so when we finally invented materials that were both clear and tough.
Eyes are vulnerable, but they’re also small. The risk of something hitting and destroying them is acceptably low compared to the risks associated with impeding eyesight.

Super speed is definitely one of my favorite abilities that Kendal has, because nobody ever expects him to be THAT fast

I like poetry and I have enjoyed writing sonnets, but the things is that keeping all the rules in mind, it would be incredibly difficult to just churn out a new one every time a page appeared. It would become more difficult as time went on and less enjoyable.

How do you challenge someone with superspeed, anyway?
Been trying to figure out how to write one, personally. It seems like they’re either too OP, or too fragile.
