Tumblr text: when I was little my second-biggest environmental fear after quicksand was getting stuck under ice. anyway welcome back
Bluesky text: mondays do feel a lot like that
No way that little fire spell’s gonna keep him warm for long…
Can Erin really think his way out of this? Is it going to be Alinua saving him, or is there a chance he’ll find his sealing jewellry soon?
It seams Erin isn’t that deep becouse water pressure is a thing and he hasn’t been crushed. It will also be very cold becouse a) he is pretty deep underwater and b) he was in a artificial glacier, so I doubt he will get to the surface without help.
if I remember correctly the air bubble stayed about the same size since they submerged (apart from it breaking just now). Since Erin canât make more of it under water, it follows that either water pressure works differently in this world, or canât bypass the air magic barrier. The bends is symptoms from breathing compressed air (oxygen volume changes while surfacing, nitrogen absorption). Erin oughtnât be affected by those if he is in a magically surface pressured environment. Mind, his body has just exited that environment; no idea how the compressed body/non compressed air combo would affect the nitrogen absorption element, since to my knowledge we canât do that in plain old reality; my theory would be a lessened effect. But also; no nitrogen in this world, just âairâ so itâs all a moot point.
Dainix has definitely seen a dragon before; we know Ravvans are tasked with collecting wyrmsilk from dragon dens out in the desert. He would have seen a very different type of dragon, but a dragon nonetheless.
Walter (In a pleadings child voice): Câmon all the paladins have left, canât I get just one little super powered dark side transformation, pretty please. I swear you wonât even notice. Itâll only be for five minutes promise, and then you can have your body/mind back. I promise Iâll only be a tiny bit evil, Iâll limit my self to kicking only three dogs. pweaasee. đ„ș
Erin (Exasperated): CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP!!!
Iâm imagining these last couple panels with Void Dragon and Erin, like a kid with their mom in a car asking are they there yet constantly. And like all parents in that situation, Erin is considering driving off the road to get it to stop. Unfortunately for Erin, and parents everywhere, this isnât a viable option.
I didnât have time to explain my thoughts on this page when I commented at 5am, so Iâm doing it now!
I for one, really like the art on this page. However the fact that the art is so cool, adds to my discomfort. I have a moderate fear of drowning (probably the claustrophobic part of it though I donât actually have claustrophobia), and so looking at Erinâs slowly shrinking bubble just flipped that fear of drowning switch in my brain.
I think especially since Erin canât go to the surface at risk of the paladins finding him, and I imagine heâd have a hard time swimming up there in the first place because he needs to maintain his spells in that awkward position.
Anyways thatâs my imput for todayâs page, let me know if anyone agrees!
I wonder if being soaked to the bone is any better than being in the ice cave. My guess is no, or at least, not much. Oceans run cold deep beneath the surface. I think that’s true in the world of Aurora too, since Alinua commented that she was freezing on 2.5.7.
Erin has mustered the tiniest air bubble for his head and is keeping it breathable via fire transmutation again. It’s efficient, and the spell only needs a small area of effect this way⊠but oh man. Either finding his bag somehow or having Alinua come to the rescue would be really, really helpful here.
I have an answer for that!
When he and Danix first jumped in he made a runic circle for the bubble, it encompassed Erin and Danix, thus creating the bubble, so when they finally land in the water, the runic circle is around them and so you canât see it! So it leads me to think that the reason we canât see the runic circle it because it *is* the bubble!
Iâm sorry for being so excited, I didnât think I had it in me to solve this.
I’m curious as to the mechanics of underwater ice breath. I don’t think it automatically freezes the water it passes through, but it seems to “detonate” in frost energy when it hits something substantial. Am I missing something?
Maybe it’s fast enough that it doesn’t really affect the water it’s moving through, until it hits something, that takes the full force of the ice breath
Oh, Erin, you do realize that you will not be having a nice, peaceful day for a very looong time. Also, the only ways you won’t die right now is VD or Alinua. Good luck.
Well that’s not good.
Getting the where is Alinua out of the way.
Also I’m getting the Aurora books!!!!

Bubble of air quickly shrinks as water pours in
âLet me save you.â goads dragon to struggling Erin
Underwater insists donât need you but to think
Beams bright light up ice as they fight in the drink
That dragon might be the break they need.
If a Dragon does not listen, only Lord Stefan has the authority to command him back. To do that, he might need to get close to the water. Maybe close enough?
Dainix spiraling around that bweem reminds me of some really old side-scrolling arcade games that used to have deadly little unhittable dots that came for your spaceship…
For mobile readers.

Damnit Red, I almost spat out my oatmeal at that Bluesky text. Possibly through my nose!

Sadly, the fire spell isn’t even for keeping him warm; it’s for keeping his air fresh via transmutation. To him I can only say, godspeed.

I wonder whether the bends are a thing that can happen is a setting that doesn’t conform to IRL molecular physics?

Now I’m wondering if the humans in Aurora have a Mammalian Dive Reflex
I can almost hear a tiny “BWEEM!” in the distance.
á”Ê·á”á”á”á”á”á”á”á”
Ominously BWEEMless. I don’t trust it.
Too busy having CRACK-BLUB and BLOOP.
You know I’m not sure, but I think this may be the first time Dainix has ever seen a dragon, I just realised that.
Dainix has definitely seen a dragon before; we know Ravvans are tasked with collecting wyrmsilk from dragon dens out in the desert. He would have seen a very different type of dragon, but a dragon nonetheless.
Given Dainix’s original job, he’s seen plenty of dragons. That being said, this is likely his first time seeing a GLACIAL dragon.
Would a glacial dragon be weak against heat or fire?
Sneak away to the surface while the dragon is distracted.

Oh hey! that’s the sea floor, *Her* sea floor!
Erin is having a truly awful day today, wow
Erin and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day!
*beep beep*
Oxygen.
Alinuaaaaaaaaaa come pick me up I’m scared
Ice floats, so maybe Erin can ride a chunk of ice to the surface.
wait is VD going to possess Erin just in time for the paladins to see it and conclude he’s 150% irredeemable?
We’ve… Got to get Deus Ex Alinua, one of these days, right???????? RIGHT???
please
Something tells me Erin’s not going to be a fan of ice baths after this…
He’s casting without the runes. That’s not a good sign, methinks. He really didn’t have time to write anything out properly.
Oh shit! His fire hand has a rune circle, but his air hand doesn’t. Our boy is Going Through It.
I have an answer for that!

It feels like every Erin panel this chapter is competing for the *Most Bedraggled* award
