Alt-text: it was when I wrote this page that I realized Erin and Tess are just Calvin and Hobbes in a different font
Tess is much more appealing than Hobbes, I think, though wise in reflection and observation like Hobbes. Calvin has less suave and more grunge than Erin. Falst has the spirit closer to Calvin if not the arrogance Calvin is prone to show.
Its rollercoaster of emotions for Erin first I have good news! Gasp there is a new mystery and I wasnt here for it. Oh that is good news but its irrelevant because we are back to the first good new. Hey guys this is the first time I have been the first comment
S for Stupendous!
T for Tiger, ferocity of!
U for Underwear, red!
P for Power, incredible!
E for Execellent physique!
N for …um… something …hmm, well I’ll come back to that…
D for Determination!
U for… for… wait, how do you spell this? Is it “I”?
Sorry Erin, we already have a ship; it’s called Ferinheit.
While Erin is probably used to traveling and staying in new places, the events of the last few sefs have been a bit much, so you can’t really blame him for forgetting which door goes where. Though it does give me the mental image of him opening a door to find Shrike and her boys (gender neutral) all in a room sorting weapons for an ambush.
Yes Erin, you missed the Kendal weirdness talk, but at least your late arrival gave us Tess’s smug face in panel 3 and subsequent teasing. He doesn’t seem to dwell on it though; he’s got a hard sale of convincing the gang a metal boat built by his mate is a good idea.
Erin returns, declaring “GOOD NEWS!”
And wonders why they’re sitting in the dark.
“Unraveling mysteries,” his sister explains,
While grinning like a shark.
Erin. Erin, have you forgotten about the stab wound and the arm in a sling?
I suppose, theoretically, the injured squad members could continue resting and healing on the ship, if the ship is comfy enough for resting. But having two injured while at high seas on an experimental boat with turbulent weather in the forecast has me a wee bit concerned.
Oh, that sibling energy! Absolutely glorious.
(Oh, Tess. Can’t decide if I want to be with her, or be her. We’d get up to SUCH shenaniganery, but then again, she also does that on her own.)
i think thats cause hes got a stab wound in his stomach that probably isnt quite healed yet. thats my guess anyway, but i am slightly concerned for him
Happy Eclipse day!
Sadly as a UK guy on a cloudy day, I’m going to miss it, but it does remind me of one I saw 9 years ago that was 80% obscured. I was at university at the time and said university had a real old school telescope on campus that was used to get some great views of it.
Erin: So, hear me out, the weather’s not going to get better, there’s probably kinda definitely an entire religious cult after my head, and we may have ruffled some feathers in Zuurith…
Floof Squad: Uh huh…
Erin: …Plus, the Dragon is getting a little twitchy, and there’s a higher chance of running into people I know, which is going to make it harder to keep the ‘possessed-by-the-embodiment-of-the-Void’ thing under wraps…
Floof Squad: Fair enough…
Erin: …Which is why we should absolutely take the untested metal craft designed by my friend with a penchant for explosives and a need for speed (which I’ll be driving, by the way) through the North Seas where there may or may not be a turf war between gods going on. Immediately. Like right now.
Floof Squad: …See, this is where you’ve lost us.
I see absolutely no possible way this plan can go wrong. Should we start a betting pool on exactly how far they’ll get between Argist and Helm before the ship sinks?
Two of them sink, one almost drowned, one of thems a cat and they all need time to rest and recuperate. The question isnt who wouldn’t be happy, but who would be (Erin, the answer is Erin)
I wonder if there are any magical events that take place with an eclipse in Aurora? Like depending on which moon covers the sun, something different happens, and there’s a super rare event where both moons cover the sun.
Erin: TAH DAH!
Ali: (politely not saying anything but wincing anyway)
Falst: “Oh great. So we *are* swimming all the way there.”
Dalinix: “Hmm. Erin, I haven’t see a whole lot of boats lately, but …”
Kendal: “Me neither, but that can’t be normal.”
Tess: “No, this checks out.”
I didn’t realize how much I NEEDED to see Tess and Erin interact more! I need to call my sister, she looks at me like that when I’m being goofy or dramatic!

Hobbes is way fuzzier than Tess. Much more comfortable than Tess’s almost-literal abs of steel.
Tumblr text: Well look who survived their boating expedition
Twitter Text: dramatic entrances 101 is the one class Erin never skipped
Oh, no. He also never missed Dramatic Entrances 201. He DID miss a few classes of 301 though.
That’s the most amazing thing I’ve read all day
👀
What was that “THUMP”?
Erin busting open the main door to make his dramatic entrance, only find out the main room was empty.
I thought it was Erin trying to burst into the room before realising the door was locked, and quite sturdy.
I thought it was him throwing open the room next door and surprising whoever was inside. 😆
I thought he tried to dramatically enter into someone else’s room, hence the ah ahem and the what the

Ok when are we getting a Tracer Bullet like Noir parody with Erin?
I’m holding out for Stupendous Man. Erin is very mild mannered, after all
He has a futuristic ship now, maybe Spaceman Spiff?
S for Stupendous!
T for Tiger, ferocity of!
U for Underwear, red!
P for Power, incredible!
E for Execellent physique!

It makes me laugh how Erin (is his name Erin? I keep forgetting the names..) is offendes they’re learning new stuff without him 😀
Oh so that wasn’t just an artistic choice they actually were just sitting in the dark. Wonder if Kendal has to worry about eye strain or cataracts?
he probably doesn’t have to worry about those
And how he remembered he needed to knock before entering
Sorry Erin, we already have a ship; it’s called Ferinheit.

“Unraveling mysteries,” his sister explains,

With some difficulty Erin bursts through the door
To find they were solving mysteries before
Trying to do a dramatic entrance, only to discover your audience has migrated on you? Poor Erin just can’t manage to look cool to his friends.
These guys just make me so happy, look at them! Also, someone who understands my floor dwelling ways!
It makes me so happy how upset he is that they were figuring stuff out without him
So, did he open the wrong door, or did he fail to open the door?
ERIN POWER POSE!!!
love how the lighting in this page gives away that they’ve been sitting in a half-lit room this whole time hahaha
Floor time is indeed very important, I’d go mad without burying my face into her fur every once in a while, while hugging the hell out of her.
poor hubris mcsicktats, he tried three times to get that dramatic entrance just right, and he just kept getting fooled at every turn…
Erin. Erin, have you forgotten about the stab wound and the arm in a sling?

Welp. I guess we’ll see what the others say.
Oooh, the plot will get going…
Oh, that sibling energy! Absolutely glorious.
(Oh, Tess. Can’t decide if I want to be with her, or be her. We’d get up to SUCH shenaniganery, but then again, she also does that on her own.)
I have been waiting this ENTIRE chapter for this page and it DOES NOT disappoint, hahaha.
i love that tess can just predict when erins gonna open the door. sibling behaviour
Erin’s middle name is Farnsworth and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Erin Farnsworth Runnaster? It does have music in the name.
Why Farnsworth?
Prof. Farnsworth is a character from the show Futurama, who has a habit/running gag of addressing the crew with “Good news, everyone!”
If Red only learns about the Simpsons against her will, I can only imagine the same is true for Futurama
Did anyone else notice Kendal clutching his side…?
i think thats cause hes got a stab wound in his stomach that probably isnt quite healed yet. thats my guess anyway, but i am slightly concerned for him
He’s been doing that since he woke up. I think it’s the wound in his belly
Happy eclipse day!
I know this is completely off topic but Red needs to show us some eclipses sometime considering the weird astronomy of this planet.
Happy Eclipse day!

Happy Eclipse day!
I love the alt text, and I shall now be re-reading the entire Calvin and Hobbes archive with an analytical eye with this in mind
TL;DR: Screw your secrets, we’re leaving!

Floof Squad: …See, this is where you’ve lost us.
I see absolutely no possible way this plan can go wrong. Should we start a betting pool on exactly how far they’ll get between Argist and Helm before the ship sinks?
I bet you two earth lacrimas for one day of mundane travel.
I always appreciate the injurie mark on Tess’ upper arms. It reconnects us to how she became the badass lightning boxer monk that she is.
Why do I think someone won’t be happy about a ship and sea trip?
Two of them sink, one almost drowned, one of thems a cat and they all need time to rest and recuperate. The question isnt who wouldn’t be happy, but who would be (Erin, the answer is Erin)
I knew Eris would be upset that they were engaging in Science! without him.
Tess’s smug face on panel 3 is the best thing I’ve ever seen
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys the eclipse, please don’t look directly at it without protection!
I wonder if there are any magical events that take place with an eclipse in Aurora? Like depending on which moon covers the sun, something different happens, and there’s a super rare event where both moons cover the sun.
i love that’s she’s ever so slightly doing the :3 face
Cut to: everyone looking at the ship.
Me: (packs my bags) “I’ll bring the snacks!”
“but MY good news will make that completely irrelevant!”
is SUCH a RED thing to say!!!
Gah, now I’m hearing it in her voice instead of my imagining of Erin’s voice.
Huh… Yeah, they kinda are. I guess that’s the self-important and snarky character and their more worldly but even snarkier companion duo? Neat.
I admit, I agree with Erin. Three or four pages ago, I was like, “Man, this seems like the kind of discussion you should bring The Smart One in for.”
I love it when the genius is an idiot
Tess andi cannot describe just how much I love Tess and Erin’s sibling dynamic.
It’s really easy to forget how pale Erin is compared to everyone else. Hopefully, the time spent aboard the ship will help with that.
“WITHOUT ME?!!”, lol
I didn’t realize how much I NEEDED to see Tess and Erin interact more! I need to call my sister, she looks at me like that when I’m being goofy or dramatic!
Did anyone else read Erin’s “Good News” in the voice of Professor Farnsworth from Futurama?
