I read Varda’s, Pinewing’s and TheUnkownGame’s story and game ideas when they were talking about it a few chapters back and they were really cool.
We’ve been with Our Heroes so long I keep forgetting that most folks are not, in fact, former divine avatars, incarnations of primordial magic, or elemental mages who’ve also played host to the setting’s Ultimate Big Bad. Jumping forty feet in the air is only normal in some martial arts flicks and anime.
1) Very proud of Erin’s progress, though I’ve got to acknowledge the inherent arrogance in “If I can’t figure out what you are then it MUST be complicated”
2) Aside from the arrogance thing, Erin’s reaction to the “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you” is very refreshing in comparison to how that conversation usually goes.
3) Erin in the first 2 panels is my 2020 mood.
There’s so much to unpack here. First Erin’s obvious embarrassment at not being able to pay for stuff, then there’s Kendal, who’s just awkwardly looking somewhere else, and finally there’s Erin, not only admitting he has a problem (and finally finding the time and courage to ask Kendal his question) but also being a good friend, ready to listen and just *chefs kiss* feels man!
Kendal looks so wholesome and innocent in the first couple panels because this is the first time he has been inside a building while someone isn’t pointing a weapon at him. You know that feeling when you’re in a crowded restaurant at night with the warm lamps and all the background noise and chatter blends together? He’s experiencing it for the first time.
“If I can’t figure out what you are then it MUST be complicated” Erin Ruunaser, master of mixing humility and hubris into a single sentence.
Nice to see Erin finally asking to hear Kendal’s story and admitting his shortcomings. That or he’s in a social gathering place and no book to read in the corner he has to resort to conversation. (Or am I just projecting that part?)
Nice indoor setting here, nice touch of the glow of what I assume to be a fire in panel 5. Where our band is sitting, especially where Erin is, does feel cooler than the rest of the building.

K: then I was told by vash to find him, passed out, and was found and healed by Alinua. We investigated the land, got attack by a shadow of the colossas ripoff where Alinua leveled up and had a chat with Cthulu
