Gleicann knows he needs help, but according to godly etiquette
1 he can not ask for help
2 other gods can not offer help
3 if another God tries to help he can not accept it
But since Kendal is not exactly a god, Gleicann can classify him as outside the etiquette and ignore him (indirectly accepting the offered help without admitting that is what is going on).
In the god-o-vision, notice where the god juices are concentrated:
1) In the intersection between Kendal the Sword and Kendal the Person
2) In his eyes, which still occasionally glow with divine power
and, not in his chest where his heart is, or even balled in his stomach like with a chakra point but:
Probably because we haven’t yet had many individuals to compare them to; once we see what more ordinary folk are capable of, these three might start to seem more mighty and legendary. Hell, we’ve already seen Alinua perform an act worthy of legend; single-handedly saving Windscrest from famine by growing that enormous fruit tree.
There’s also Kendal’s hand where he holds… well, Kendal. It looks as if his soul is intertwined with the sword, supporting the theory that someone suggested a few pages back that Kendal (the demigod) is alive thanks to Kendal (the sword), since Vash once made the sword part of himself. If it had just been due to Vash leaving an imprint of life on his incarnation (a la sentinels), Kendal likely wouldn’t have all that much personality or any of Vash’s memories; he’d be kinda mindlessly shambling around. But if it’s both, that gives him both a bolstered soul and a personality AND a connection to a god that any emissary would envy.
It’s official: I will automatically approve of any theory/ observation proposed by Lord Walter. I’d say the title of Official Theorizer is pretty well deserved.
Well, now you have two, O Lord Walter the Official Theorizer!
Just to be clear, I’m not claiming to have come up with the latter title. The honour all belongs to Pinewing, I just found ‘Official Theorizer’ worth using.
Though it is indeed true that I did create that title, I really just needed an excuse to participate (plus I couldn’t resist getting a bit of credit XD) since I haven’t had much to say lately…
Besides this: Gleicann really reminds me of the ents, though he is a tad bit greater and smarter maybe? Well he definitely is faster than the way ents are represented (you know, mentally) and he is charming…I like the interaction with Kendal. I found it funny in some occasions…
I wasn’t the first one to propose this theory (that honor goes to Anaklusmos), but I do support it and expanded upon it by bringing in Kendal’s own brief hypothesis from chapter 3 and the nature of sentinels and soul energy.
It seems fitting that the Lord of the Comments Section is the guy who sort of shares a name with the Void Dragon, since it’s a major component of the plot. And in view of the disgruntlement that has been called off in truce, I can’t help but think of the fantasy plot where the token jaded character, who lost everything to whatever evils this particular world features, leads the resistance against said evils. Silly, I know.
I’m going to raise the hypothesis that Kendal is, in a sense, still Vash, but massively diminished and without the same tie to the (former) city of Vash as it’s namesake god had.
Definitely existential crisis material, still a god… kind of, but cannot go back to the role he used to as a full-god for many reasons out of his control, and now just independently wanders around and does…?
I suppose if this is true, then it makes Kendal (the man) a demi-god.
Interesting that you can still see Kendal’s wound in Gleicann’s vision. Maybe it will affect him later? Maybe Gleicann can sense the life magic used there? idk.
I’m seeing a lot of people up here proposing the idea that Kendal is a demigod. I’m seeing a few problems with that though. The main one is that a demigod, by definition, is a being with a mortal parent and a godly parent. But Kendal doesn’t have parents, at least not in the traditional sense. He was created as a body for cash and once his soul got sucked out he was just kind of there. By the looks of things I think Kendal, is tied to Vash the same way the sword is, as a tool that has a more divine purpose and is directly made by Vash, only sentient. It’s a difficult situation since we’ve known for a while he isn’t human, but this whole chapter so far has brought back into light the big mystery of what exactly Kendal is and what it means that he is here. Also take into consideration that Erin will likely either be asking him about this soon, or at the very least feeling pressured to, leading to some sweet angst potential. Keep up the great work Red!
Following this hypothesis, is Kendal now Kendal because of the loss of Vash-the-city’s people? A demi-god status created by a diminished power source and connection?
Maybe? As Jexxica_Jade pointed out, Kendal (the ooman) seems to have a connection to Vash like Kendal (the sword). The lore entry on Vash’s sword seems to imply that the sword is, in effect, at once both an extension of Vash and partly a source of his power. So while the lost of the City of Vash has massively reduced Vash’s power, his sword, and Kendal himself (by extrapolation, if he has a bond to Vash similar to the sword), are both extensions and possibly sources of power for Vash, something the Collector may not have taking completely into account.
Vash as a god appears to act and think in a more human fashion than most of the other gods we’ve seen, and apparently Vash was already quite strong even when still very young.
If the Collector attempts to dismantle Vash’s soul, then we may get a strange situation where he is either anchored by his connection to Kendal (sword and man both) or else where our boy Kendal becomes, in effect, all that is left of Vash, with all of the angst and character development that would bring with it.
Hmm, not sure how well this detour will fly with Erin.
So the main concentration of godly Kirby crackle is in the sword, his eyes and the stab wound, interesting. What’s also interesting is that, from the same panel, both Alinua and Erin aren’t showing up on the same wavelength. Is Gleicann just viewing god energy and not primordial energy or is this due to them, despite their primordial powers, still being very much mortals?
TL;DR: Kirby god is doing baselsss accusations, Vashn’t is super special and somebody who isn’t Chimera mum is doing her job. Vashn’t can’t allow that plagiarism to be.
Alternate TL:DR: Pan Knockoff doesn’t know if Chimera Mom is behind the attacks, as mortals are weird and complex compared to the totally easy to understand gods/s, apparently this rule is broken by the even more complex Sword Floof, who is #NotLikeOtherFloofs and basically an existential crisis speed run at this point. Apparently Sword Floof is outside the rules of gods, and thus a loophole that Pan Knockoff wants to exploit, either that or he doesn’t care about the rules and just wants an excuse to procrastinate solving the problem of the wild chimeras
Ah yes, the overwhelming need to do EVERY sidequest, present in any and all shonen protagonists.
and every skyrim/open world video gamer
Kendal almost stepped on Gleicann’s foot with his paragon attitude xD
It still wouldn’t have hurt (remember: big ol’ hooves)
Why do I get the feeling Kendal will have an existential crisis and they’ll be a personal character arc with him trying to discover who he is…
???
Or what he is
Or why he is
or how he is
Existential?
Or where he is
Or whom he is
Or which he is
Well, at least we already know how he is and where he is
Well, we don’t really know how he is. Had he always been there waiting for Vash to leave, was he a spirit sucked into a void, we don’t know.
Also: What happens when Vash comes back?
“Where is Kendal?”
“I’ll do you one better. Who is Kendal?”
I’ll do YOU better, Why is Kendal!?”
It’s simple, Kendal is a demi-god, where his mother is himself, and his father is vash. This makes total sense to me.
I- …have questions…
Look, loophole abuse!
Thems good writings right there

It’s ok Kendal, I know what you are, you’re mint cake 😀
(Only like 3 British people will get this terrible joke and I am sorry)
Now, my question is, does god vision apply a Lens Flare Censor?
I just realized that Erin and Alinua are in the background of the third panel!
Makes me wonder if that’s how Gleicann sees mortals (and also Kendal)
I wouldn’t be surprised… although I would also have expected some more notice imparted to these two since they’re both(?) possessed by Primordials.
I feel like every individual in this party is ridiculously overpowered or special, and Red still makes it work and seem balanced and normal.
But did she win a competition against a sea god to get the town named after her though?
How Gilgameshian of him
I like how in Gleicann’s vision, he can see the place where Vash’s soul got schlormp’d out of his body
It’s official: I will automatically approve of any theory/ observation proposed by Lord Walter. I’d say the title of Official Theorizer is pretty well deserved.
Hey! I invented that title! Though as I said too sometime before, it is well deserved.
I admit, though I normally try to be humble and modest, I do like having an epithet, even if it is a pretty niche one
Well, now you have two, O Lord Walter the Official Theorizer!
Just to be clear, I’m not claiming to have come up with the latter title. The honour all belongs to Pinewing, I just found ‘Official Theorizer’ worth using.

A final adjustment: Ents take their time in speaking right? Like, they are slower. That is what I meant by “smarter” and “faster (mentally)”
I wasn’t the first one to propose this theory (that honor goes to Anaklusmos), but I do support it and expanded upon it by bringing in Kendal’s own brief hypothesis from chapter 3 and the nature of sentinels and soul energy.
Aw, thanks for giving me credit.
You’re welcome! It’s a really good theory
I feel like you’re like the ringleader to this little comment section community of theorist (^-^)
It seems fitting that the Lord of the Comments Section is the guy who sort of shares a name with the Void Dragon, since it’s a major component of the plot. The disgruntlement / personal complex is behind me now; I apologize to anyone I may have insulted and/or annoyed with my angry complaining
What a weird wa to say “Thank you for helping me with something I’ve been putting off…”
What a weird way to say “Thank you for helping me with something that I’ve been putting off.”
Opps Sorry for the dup!
I’m going to raise the hypothesis that Kendal is, in a sense, still Vash, but massively diminished and without the same tie to the (former) city of Vash as it’s namesake god had.

Alright let’s go fight some monsters
Interesting that you can still see Kendal’s wound in Gleicann’s vision. Maybe it will affect him later? Maybe Gleicann can sense the life magic used there? idk.
If it was the residual life magic Gleicann could see, then he would also see the burns that Kendal suffered at the mercy of the Void Dragon
I’m seeing a lot of people up here proposing the idea that Kendal is a demigod. I’m seeing a few problems with that though. Argh I was trying to reply to Aarjel but I don’t think it worked.
Replying to Ata_Lanta,

I love that sneaky smile! Gleicann, you trickster god

I can’t wait for a year from now, when he starts his 84th sidequest after completing a grand total of 0.
Chill forest god, i like it.
Notice the peculiar extra glow where his stab wound once was….hmm

Two months of pause since I last wrote anything in the backlog. Time to continue!
The world through the eyes of a god is very strange
Kendal (neither god nor man) may situations rearrange
God vision also seems to ignore the effect of gravity on floof
I like his logic
