Wait a second, is this… More information? VD! You are expositing like crazy over here! We might have to poor VD a medic!
On a side note, could this possibly refer to an elusive new element?
If I had the constitution of a ‘proper’ Victorian lady, I would be blushing furiously.
But I don’t, so I’ll just redirect some of your praise to TheUnknownGame, who said it first.
Maybe the creation of The Storm was a cause for the civil war…
From the last page, it looked like the pedestal was in the middle of a large city, and that city would’ve been ROYALLY f***ed over by Six Flavors of Death. Perhaps people had opposing opinions on whether they should try to retake the city, or leave it be, deepening a long-present sociopolitical and ideological rift?
Bit of a stretch, considering we know nothing about the Ancients’ civilization and history, but I thought it was worth mentioning
It would make sense. The war probably got kicked off as a result of the Ancients pointing fingers trying to figure out who caused the Storm.
“You idiot, I told you not to touch that!”
“I didn’t touch it!”
“Hey, who are you calling an idiot, that’s my brother!”
*cue everything escalating quickly*
“oh yes I broke the pedestal all on my own, while imprisoned inside the core of the planet, the Ancients didn’t even notice I added a new black rune to it lol”
press X to doubt.
I mean, the life primordial manifested on Alinua with the chimeric plague, and left its mark/rune on her, but the spirits of the primordials are free in the atmosphere…
So the V.D is using a kind of elemental corruption to control Erin’s body, that’s kind of interesting and scary at the same time.
Also, they seem to have been down in the Caves for quite a while now, it can’t be long till they reach the prison. I guess then V.D is either going to drop Erin’s body and leave him in the caves, or the “now watch you friends die!” thing.
Assuming Aurora has planetary proportions similar to ours, they can’t have gone much more than a few kilometres down, 10 at maximum I would say. And that’s still not even close. Unless VD is imbuing Erin’s body with currently heightened physical capability to walk faster or gently gone down some very sheer drops, it will be a long while before they reach the edge of the adamant.
On the pedestal, the fire rune is opposite the water rune, the wind rune is opposite the stone rune, and the lightning rune is opposite the life rune. I wonder how the magic derived from these opposite elements interacts…
I’m genuinely not sure if the grin on the person’s face is V.D.’s or Erin’s. On the one hand, we’ve been given reason to believe V.D. is in near-complete control of the body. On the other hand, it’s Erin. He’s probably treating all of this as some amazing scientific experience. “An ancient evil has bypassed the gods and is possessing me? It’s kind of frightening and I wish it would stop, but it’s also FASCINATING.”
Seriously, Erin’s probably my favorite character in the comic at this point.
I think it’s the Void Dragon grinning there; Erin’s text bubbles don’t have pointers in that panel, which indicates that he isn’t in control of the body at that moment
Walter, the void dragon,
did not ride on a wagon
Though this page was not laggin’
I in my home was saggin’
for I have not met a Walter
That was the Void Dragon
PS. It is getting harder to write these poems about how The Void Dragon is not Walter and about the story. ?
Theory timeee. So, basically, the reason the Collector is immortal is because of the whole soul stealy shtick. Basically, the souls she steals sustain her corporeal body. She wants a god soul to be more powerful and also to experience heightened reality on the level of a god. Or perhaps, she’s running out of mortal soul energy, and needs gods to sustain herself?
So, Erin was played like a fiddle, and he knows it.
I wonder how V.D. made that rune, and for that matter converse with the Twins. He must have some means of interacting with the world outside his prison to do so.
TL;DR: Dark floof learned of signatures, decides to use the substandard tattoo as a signature. He then signed his name on the Scary Magic Storm tablet, creating the Scary Magic Storm. This technically means he’s its dad. Additionally, the Scary Magic Storm was made to lure an elemental magus, aka Nerd floof.
i love how it started as “My Friends will come and save me!” “those strangers you met yesterday?” and now it’s just them talking about how smart the dragon’t plan was!

Exactly: the mysterious ‘seventh element’
Maybe we shall even see void mages?
“That’s bait.”
Well. So much for the pedestal being the *result* of the Ancients’ Civil War, I guess.
Also, major props to Varda Alighieri for correctly predicting that the pedestal was used as bait by V.D.

Wow, I never really thought about how VD did that. He really glossed over it, huh?

Hey, he might even let him live for the next 10 minutes as a favor, before the sun is eaten.
Hey, anyone else notice the symbol burning out of Erin’s clothes at this point? Pretty sure that’s not a good sign.
Varda, we were right!
*high five*
*victory hugs if you’re a fan of those*
Why not? Hugs are good
Fantasy equivalent of click bait and cat fishing

As Red confirmed on Twitter, snake/lizard eyes: Void dragon is in control;
Cat eyes: Erin is in control.
I have an AP exam tomorrow wish me luck
Luck, I have a test on the whole damn book of all classes next week…
I wish you and anyone else with tough upcoming tests good luck!
Ah, distracting the villain by getting them to monologue while you quietly work your way free. Classic hero move.

But I thought that the Ancients were specified to be able to resist the Element Storms?
Void Dragon: So you can resist elemental storms? Have you tried A BIGGER STORM?
That was a reply to Solan, I botched the reply process.
