I don’t like it either, but mostly because it’s incredibly uncanny for me to see my first name being used as a nickname for an ancient, incredibly powerful, evil god-like being
I know, it’s distressing how well their personalities play off each other. It doesn’t make me ship it, but it does make me wish V.D. would visit Erin in his dreams or something so we could get more great dialogue scene like this.
Operative word there is *tried* to kill them, Mister Void Dragon. As in, didn’t succeed at it. Also, you ran away and hid like a frightened child because green is a scary color. Who’s the one hoping they just leave him down here and don’t follow, again?
On the contrary, Mr. Void seems very polite. He’s just having an honest conversation with the person he’s possessed, and might be about to explain everything he’s doing, which seems unnecessarily responsible for a being in his position.
So, I just realised a connection between all of the main characters. None of their bodies appear to be entirely their own. Kendal is in the incarnation of Vash. Erin shares his body with the void dragon and Alinua seems to have that green creature in her head and doesn’t seem like a normal elf. All of them are also confused about what they are and how they came to be like that.
Everybody has probably already noticed this, but I think its very interesting.
Honestly, out of the three, I think Alinua’s got it best. Kendal, despite not having to fight anyone for permission to use his body, has to deal with semi-frequent existential crises, and Erin’s mentally grappling with literally the most powerful being in the universe. Alinua, on the other hand; her cognitive hitchhiker seems pretty passive, and even helpful on occasion, giving Alinua her magic powerup and saving her life in dire situations. The only problem she has is being ab-… abandoned at birth… and emotional trauma from a decade of self-isolation…
You know what, I take that back; none of them have it great.
They may be giving Alinua a powerup, but they’re not doing much to explain the circumstances, something that at least Vash had the decency to do more or less before communications were apparently cut.
That’s true, the downside of her passivity; either she isn’t strong enough to explain in detail, she doesn’t think Alinua is strong enough to know, or she’s biding her time for some unknown reason.
I’m betting the Void Dragons’ body is just chilling in the center of the planet waiting for his soul to make it down to him so he can get back to consuming the universe. This would be a pretty awful thing to happen, but I also want to see a giant dragon giving evil monologues, soooooooo….
As far as I can tell, none of the bodies of the primordials or that of the void dragon survived their battle eons ago, or at least they cannot be reanimated. What the VD is hoping to find in the caves is questionable, but almost undoubtedly not good for the world or universe as a whole.
Ya, that is a good point. Probably just my wishful thinking wanting to see huge, Smaug-like dragon giving evil monologues.
I’ve been thinking about the fact that both the Collector and the VD are in the caves now, that they might be connected in some way, like a “man on the inside“ sort of thing. The Collector could be doing her experiments with the souls of minor Gods to see if there’s a way the VD could “posses” one of them. Maybe if she was able to find a way to separate a Gods’ incarnation from their soul, she could find a more stable vessel for the VD, that would probably be able to handle the full extent of its power without being ripped asunder. That might be why she took Vash with her into the caves, he’s a pretty strong God, and he’s known his fighting skill. Maybe the Collector thought he would make the best vessel for the VD.
I don’t know though, it’s probably just the conspiracy theorist in me trying to find a connection between everything. I just thought it was interesting.
I think you’re onto something; in the lore page for the primordials, it states that the six primordials fused their bodies together to surround the Void Dragon, imprisoning it at the center of the planet. On top of that, we’ve seen another instance of the Void Dragon being trapped before; their mark, which I believe contained their soul, was surrounded by the elemental great runes on the pedestal at the center of The Storm. It’s stated that elemental energy is the leftover of the primordials’ souls; souls to entrap a soul, bodies to entrap a body, kept separate to make it harder for the Void Dragon to come back.
Only questions here are: how did the Void Dragon’s soul get separated from their body, and how was it brought to the pedestal? Was it a similar magic to The Collector’s knives?
That’s really the only show of that kind of magic we’ve seen, so it might be. But then that begs the questions of what the Collector actually is, if she is somehow connected to the Primordials and how. If she isn’t, then where did she get that ability, did she just happen to find the knives or did she enchant them herself?
Most authors: His arrogance will be his slow, creeping downfall as it turns to paranoia and it slowly drives him insane.
Red: MotherFer’s POSSESSED and HE’S GONNA KNOW IT.
Hmm, I almost get the feeling that V.D. likes using elemental magic, he looks almost fascinated by the lightning in panel 3.
While his void magic is incredibly powerful I guess he’s enjoying the more varied magics he now has, and how they can be used to destroy his enemies.
another day, another opportunity to refer to the Void Dragon as Walter
Okay, wtf is this about? There’s a backstory here and I have a strong desire to know what it is
They are from the subreddit… I don’t like that name to be honest. It’s too random.
I don’t like it either, but mostly because it’s incredibly uncanny for me to see my first name being used as a nickname for an ancient, incredibly powerful, evil god-like being
The comic viewers have decided to call it the Dark Floof.
YES! THANK YOU! SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS THE WALTERVERSE!!!!
Well folks, with how this scene is going, I think we have ourselves a fandom staple; the crack ship.
(Seriously though, their dynamic is great!)
I know, it’s distressing how well their personalities play off each other. It doesn’t make me ship it, but it does make me wish V.D. would visit Erin in his dreams or something so we could get more great dialogue scene like this.
Walters gonna woop kendals ass
OK yikes
Also this scene is incredible, loving the incredible edginess his pose/face in every panel
A storm is coming
Oh shit he is railroading him!
Operative word there is *tried* to kill them, Mister Void Dragon. As in, didn’t succeed at it. Also, you ran away and hid like a frightened child because green is a scary color. Who’s the one hoping they just leave him down here and don’t follow, again?
To be fair, green is a very scary color.
*presses X to doubt*
It is a creeper colou- creepY colour, I said creepy colour!
This is why you don’t give your siblings the controls.
I’m SUPER vibing with the yello/purple/black color pallete VERY nice I like
I’m starting to think the void dragon is not a very nice person…
On the contrary, Mr. Void seems very polite. He’s just having an honest conversation with the person he’s possessed, and might be about to explain everything he’s doing, which seems unnecessarily responsible for a being in his position.
I like him.
This dragon seems to have studied at the Disney School of Pure Evil.
Or he just watched Red’s trope talk on the subject.
probably the latter.
Both
Both is good
Get yeeeeeted.

I think that when our heroes arrive, there will be a big showdown between the life primordial in Alinua and the Void Dragon in Erin.
Also, I love this presentation of the Void Dragon, this bad-guy-good-guy civilized interaction is really intriguing.
Hearty agreement.
Have you noticed in the before the last panel he’s staring out into the public? That little bastard. He wants to see what we do jaja
V. Dragon seems very fond of lightning. Is it merely that lightning is most present in this area?
Also he’s rather smiley.

If V.D. keeps using Erin’s hand as a Tesla coil, he’s going to get Parkinson from all the unreleased lightning energy…
We’ll be together forever, won’t we? =}
Most authors: His arrogance will be his slow, creeping downfall as it turns to paranoia and it slowly drives him insane.

Oooo interesting 😀

Oh Walter, you sweet innocent child. You do not yet understand, THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!
TL;DR: Nerd floof starts thinking of an escape plan, stops after getting monologued by Walter. Walter underestimates the power of FRIENDSHIP.
Erin can be surprisingly intimidating.
alt text: I guess you have NO OPTION but to listen to me MONOLOGUE
ah the void dragon underestimates the good alignments
There is no way out of this, says Dark Boy
Unaware of the main characters’ ploy
Never noticed before, but Erin always touches his tattoos to cast, but Voidy doesnt
