Ohhhh, Erin is worried he can’t fix it, which is exactly why he’s saying he can.
He’s betting that he can, but he’s worried, which is why he isn’t telling Dainix how terrible Falst is doing.
Yea – I think that the slime substance corrupted him, like it ate away at the different magic types – it probably corrupted the monsters in there too. Since it destroys magic, does anyone think it could potentially take away his half animal part, like he tried to do when we first met him? That would be interesting, like the power loss trope video Red did – he may have to deal with losing it for good after deciding he doesn’t mind it as much . . . But that’s worst case scenario – SAVE HIM PLEASE ERIN!
Ok, so, first of all, I very much appreciate your comment work, second of all, I was wondering, whether you know german. The way you form english sentences resembles german sentences (e.g. “to have with something to do” instead of “to have to do with something”), and the word “besserwisser” is german, even though I don’t know whether or not it is common knowledge in english speaking countries. I don’t know whether I’ve already asked this question, in which case I apologize, but it is rare to find german speaking Aurora/OSP -Fans, so I wanted to ask. If you really happen to be bilingual, you sure have my respect. (You also have it if you’re not, but you get the point.)
I study german, and have done so for the past 5 years, but it’s not my native language. I’m not a native speaker of english either, so it makes sense if my sentences are a bit uncommon. Do correct me if that is the case, part of the reason I write here is to improve my english. My native language is swedish, which is similar enough to german that it could be the reason. And “besserwisser” is a word in swedish too, imported from german.
I’m technically not bilingual since I’m from a background of only one language, but I speak four languages in total and am working on a fifth.

Public question!
A friend of mine recently read the series, and was baffled that people don’t ship kendel and alinua.
SO. WHO DOES?
(No wrong answer, I just wanted to know.)
Thing with shipping in Aurora is, Red is Ace. This means she doesn’t (knowingly) plant the shipping seeds in her story. Kendal and Alinua come across as tightly-knit friends, just BARELY on the Platonic side of the Platonic/Romantic spectrum.
That being said, the two of them are the closest to a romantic pairing out of any potential couple.
Not to be a besserwisser, but I think you’re confusing Ace and Aro there. Red has publicly stated being (if I remember correctly) asexual but alloromantic.
An asexual (ace) person does not experience sexual attraction (meaning they don’t find people “hot”). They can however, and in Red’s case do, experience romantic attraction (wanting to date someone). If a person doesn’t experience that, they will instead be called aromantic (aro). I might not be the best person to define these, but allos will hopefully know the difference better than I do. These two labels are neither mutually exclusive nor inclusive. The prefix allo- here is the opposite of prefix a-, meaning an allosexual person does experience sexual attraction (as opposed to an asexual).
So Red being ace does not make her unable to comprehend, or write, romance, since asexuality has nothing with romantic feelings to do. Also worth mentioning is that aromanticism, which does have with romance to do, doesn’t make a person unnable to write romance either, since the experiences portrayed in fiction are likely to be different from the author’s anyway. The one reason I could come up with for not shipping Aurora characters (aside from my personal ones) is Red’s lovely breakdown of the many problems with the Romantic Subplot.
I’m sorry for the rant, but as an aro-ace myself I find it frustrating that so much misinformation is out there about us.
As I recall, she has noted that she’s undecided on the matter of aromanticism, which does not mean she’s alloromantic or aromantic or at any specific point in between.
But regarding writing, she’s said that she has trouble connecting with a lot of romance plotlines in stories (which could be because a lot of writers use the easy shortcut of mutual sexual attraction as the foundation for such relationships). I’d argue this is the more relevant point regarding her own writing – if she’s less prone to expecting spontaneous romantic subplots as a reader, she’s probably going to be less prone to including spontaneous romantic subplots as a writer. (Someone inclined to apply labels to others might see this as being significant in choosing what label to apply, but I prefer to avoid applying labels where I lack the knowledge to do so correctly.)
This is untrue. Red IS Ace, and has said that she doesn’t usually connect with most romantic subplots (in her Trope Talks: Romantic Subplots), but that’s no reason she couldn’t write one. In fact, I’m fairly sure that she confirmed outside the comic that there would be some sort of romantic element to the story, although she’d limit it to just one relationship instead of shipping left, right, and centre. Since Kendal is her main protagonist, is perhaps the one that she relates to most, and has a questionable mental age, I seriously doubt he’ll see any romantic entanglements in this comic.
also, Falst and Dainix are waaay closer to a romantic pairing than Alinua and Kendal, but that’s just me
I think it’s also worth mentioning that in her Trope Talks: Romantic Subplots, Red describes the “Classic Demonstration” of a romantic subplot. And it is bulletpoint by bulletpoint exactly the situation that Dainix and Falst have just gone through:
Help In Crisis!
– Rescue Romance / Un-Damseling
– Moral Support
– Facilitate Positive Character Development
– Deep Personal Conversations
– “I believe in you!” / “I know you and I know you can do it!”
– After-Action Patch Up
Nope not just you – I actually got those vibes from Falst and Dainix too – although I feel as if there are some really strong feelings from Alinua to Kendal. I also think that the ships should stay on the low down – but I’ll be here to support Falst and Dainix if that becomes canon! And thanks for the clarifications, aro and ace is some interesting new info. I’d heard the terms used but was unsure of the meaning – your comment is much appreciated!
I love that everyone in ‘Aurora’ could conceivably end up romantically linked with each other. With Kendal … it’s like EVERYONE he sweeps into his group immediately become adopted family, with him being the older brother for everyone. I get love and trust and VERY brother/sister love from between Kendal & Alinua.
I’m not getting those vibes from them. She did leave exile with him like a day after he was born, so there’s reason for them to have a very deep connection with no tingly feeling. I’m all about conservation of romantic subplots and the portrayal of strong relationships and even physical contact without romantic tension.
To be honest, I don’t personally ship Kendal with anyone because he is canonically asexual, so it’s hard for me to imagine him in a sexual or romantic relationship with any character
Wait, I’m so sorry, I know I could probably find this info if I dig further but I’m only on my second time reading through and haven’t dug through the comments except occasionally, and I only watch her Trope Talks… Where did you find he’s canonically asexual? (Also I’m incredibly happy to hear that, I freaking love romance stories but romantic SUBplots annoy the everliving heck out of me)
I did initially but they seem more to get along like siblings “older sister/younger brother” and with Kendal being weeks old it seemed weird to ship him with anyone.
Just as well that circle doesn’t pick up psychological injuries, or Erin would have a LOT of questions.
Good to hear Dainix is ok but, “Another” lacrima missing? Is Erin still salty at that blinding attack in Gleicann’s forest or has Falst been stealing lacrimas from him since too? … Well I guess he was rummaging around in his bag 1-14-1.
Oh boy, those black marks are concerning. Those dark lines correspond to Falst’s injuries so I don’t think it’s cave corruption; I would expect that to show across his entire body. I think this is damage to Falst’s soul barrier that could threaten his soul cohesion; I’m basing what I’m saying on Erin’s comments in 1-19-33 about Kendal and here in panel 3.
As for can Erin fix it? I think yes, or at least do as much as he can to encourage Falst’s soul do the rest; it’s serious, but I think Erin would have said something different if it was hopeless. I’m also starting to wonder whether the strain from Falst’s mystery magic had anything to do with this condition.
Prediction for next week: Erin will be busy trying to stabilise Falst and, with Dainix is still not in great shape, Alinua will be alone facing the glort. The question is, will the Kendal-Tess cavalry arrive before it can trauma vision her?
I think that actually IS cave/void corruption. Yes it’s in falst’s injuries, but that’s because injuries damage the soul barrier, which then can allow void to leak in, which is really really bad
I want to believe it’s not corruption, I really REALLY want to believe it’s not cave corruption…
I want to think it’s just an awful lot of damage and Erin realizing “oh shit he’s been THIS injured for HOW long” and kind of feeling really bad for not paying closer attention to the entire party.
The idea of Falst being even a little corrupted makes me wanna cry 🙁
Gonna spend my weekend worrying about a fictional catboy – well, at least I’m used to it, being a Final Fantasy 14 fan.
Note how he’s saying “I can fix it.”, not “we [him and Alinua] can fix it.”
…did Falst get cave corruption? Dainix desinfected those cuts, but I don’t know if mundane healing would stop a theoretical contagious void effect from the crawler that hit him. Because that doesn’t look quite like fractures – it looks like Erin is scanning Falst’s soft tissues.
I hope I’m wrong, for one. But Erin looks REALLY scared, an he KNOWS how powerful of a healer Alinua is.
Either that or doing light (potentially soul) magic has hecked up Falst’s soul barrier six ways from Sunday and he’s actively unraveling now. That would be even more urgent, but might leave him with less of long term consequences if halted in time. I dunno. It’s bad.
OH GOD i didn’t even consider that it could be cave corruption
with all the other evil goop i forgot about normal corruption and they sure were down there for a while
Cave corruption? Oh crap good point, I didn’t think of that either. But maybe that would fit the fact that some of those lines look like an echo of that claw-scratch wound. It would also explain Erin’s horrified reaction.
Unless Falst’s deep tissue injuries are just really that bad, which is possible too, because some of the other lines correspond to his busted arm and I don’t *think* that’s a point from which corruption would spread…? That wasn’t a skin break, that was an internal break, right?
But either way. Falst… D: (And Erin. Oh boy he’s feeling ALL the pressure now)
I’m obviously not sure it IS cave corruption, but it pooling around his injuries WOULD make sense, as physical injuries damage the soul barrier, which might make it easier for corruption to set in locally.
relax, your soul cracks whenever you take an injury.
however, you may continue not relaxing, as this is much, much worse than a simple injury.
however however, you may relax again. cave corruption IS treatable in very rare, and time sensitive, circumstances. this is most likely one of those, as Erin is on the case.
So… is that black stuff infection, void corruption, or just injury? Not entirely clear, but if Dainix doesn’t have any trace energies, then I don’t see why Falst would. He’s more magically resistant and hasn’t been any closer to the Caves than Dainix has, unless Soulfire purges corruption.
I would guess that this is infection (although Dainix specifically took measures against this) or most likely, just how Erin ‘sees’ injuries. It’s bad, but we already knew that from how Falst got all that damage. And like Evil Tree suggests, maybe a bit of ‘Soul Barrier Decomposition’, whatever that looks like.
Dainix’s only injury was healed prior to entering the void hammer. my guess is that Falst’s wounds were much more open, despite his healing factor, because he broke his arm 4 times in the same place. not to mention his large, recent wound on his side.
Yeah, I’m starting to think so too. I wasn’t entirely sure how the Soul Barrier works, but if physical injuries open the barrier to corruption, then yes, I’m beginning to think that IS Void corruption eating away at him.
Speculation: to clear corruption from Falst, Erin will have to use void manipulation. Walter will gloat but he will help him do it, thus fulfilling his promise/prophecy of Erin becoming the first ever Void Master.
Same thing, different names. Nobody knew for certain that the Void Dragon was, in fact, a real thing and the cause of the so called ‘seventh element’ until some hubristic fool waltzed headlong into a trap and made direct contact with him.
I believe that this is when some authors would use the phrase “an odd tone of voice”. Im not sure if those are just injuries, there’s cracks or veins along those scratches.
Oh no! Beating himself up to save Dainix destroyed his soul barrier and let the Void in. And Erin will have to move fast because Falst will heal soon and the window of opportunity to fix him will close!
Well I took a quick peak, and it seems no–one has because Erin is still holding the same diagnosis spell as last page (I read “[show] heartbeat show brea[thing] reveal damage reveal substr[ate]”)
Ahhh, now I’m going to be worried all weekend.
Let’s hope Erin can actually fix this because as bad at self-care as Falst is, this party needs a lancer and a tank and they’re both the same Ferin.
aw hell naw man, he’s turning into a crawler right? it that what that is? or is it gloopy la Grande’s “essence” in the wound? either way falstliterally just connected his new best friend dannix so there’s gotta be a way to save/”fix” him. bro this is good. falstix 4ever
Every element gives him another opinion. If he could control ligh and a hypothetical ninth element he’d be all nine dentists who recommend a toothpaste in one.
I’m hoping that Erin is looking horrified because he just realized that Falst has been injured all this time and never said anything, and Erin spent his time and energy on studying a fire-sprite instead of healing his friend, completely oblivious. That would be an interesting character moment for the arrogant academic. I’m HOPING that’s the reason. I expect to be disappointed.
Also, Erin has obviously never had a pet cat. You have to watch them because they do their best to hide it when they’re hurt or sick. They probably think it’s a survival trait. Can’t reveal weakness or the bigger predators will get you, after all.
Kudos for the optimism, that really is the best possible outcome. But like. The level of horror on Erins face tells me Falst is very probably actively turning into a horrific monster and/or experiencing his soul unraveling. Plus there’s already been one mortal injuries fake–out with Erin diagnosing Kendal following Alinua’s vague ominous words recently, so this one is probably the real deal.
But! Even if that’s the case, his friends very definitely aren’t going to let him die or be corrupted which’ll be a good lesson in being cared about for the guy, so there’s that silver lining.
Falst shows signs of void elemental corruption, also known as cave corruption. this is bad, but i have high hopes for Erin to reverse it. a description of how he would do that at the end, for all of those who aren’t as versed in the lore by scouring the tumblr account.
and now to pinpoint the source of the cave corruption by cataloguing their respective injuries.
starting with chapter 19-petrichor:
page 1-19-23: Dainix is pushed by an automaton. no visible injuries, no proximity to the caves.
page 1-19-26: Dainix is stunned by electricity. no visible lasting injuries, no proximity to the caves.
page 1-19-27: Falst’s arm is broken for the first time by the automaton. perhaps ferin are overall less durable than ancients, or perhaps the drone cares less about saving people in one piece than they do about compliance.
chapter 20-dust and darkness:
page 1-20-6: Falst and Dainix seem to have gotten out of the fall down the entrance shaft in one piece. a cave crawler is present, indicating an entrance to the caves. from here on out, injuries may take on cave corruption as it passes through the broken soul barrier. the strength of the corruption is not apparent, but i would assume it would be too weak to pass through an in-tact soul barrier. Dainix, therefore would most likely not take on even superficial corruption. Falst, however, may or may not be at risk currently (from that particular danger at least).
page 1-20-25: Dainix is webbed by a giant spider. i believe he does not get injured from this particular encounter, no matter how webbed up he gets.
page 1-20-28: the spider webs Falst, and breaks his arm again from pulling too hard (supporting the weight of a full other person + giant monster with one arm is a good way to re-break it in the span of 20 minutes). it also slams him into the ground, but i suppose that may not have broken the skin (or soul) barrier.
chapter 21-stone and shadow:
page 1-21-6: Dainix tends to Falst’s wounds somewhat. the bones are explicitly broken, and not splinted. there is heavy bruising. this continues through page 1-21-9, where bandages and salves are applied while Falst details his unhealthy coping mechanisms.
i should mention that even when Falst isn’t being injured, he is still putting pressure on his injuries, which themselves aren’t fully healed yet.
page 1-21-14: Falst is flash-banged, possibly blinded and stunned, almost certainly momentarily deaf as he does not hear Dainix calling out from the exit.
page 1-21-17: Falst sustains a massive injury due to cave crawler claws. this would be more serious, but Dainix sustains a similar injury to his arm later, making me assume it is not the direct cause of Falst’s corruption. however, it is an open and recent wound, despite closing over within the hour. the soul barrier is presumed to be broken in his arm and side, while Dainix remains uninjured (but not for long).
page 1-21-18: another flash-bang, and another time where Falst is moved incredibly fast, this time being carried by Dainix instead of the other way around.
page 1-21-20: Dainix gets an arm injury from a cave crawler. but Erin sees no signs of corruption, meaning whatever was the result of the ambient cave influence up to this point has probably been minimal. even with multiple open wounds, Falst is still probably ok at this point (in terms of elemental corruption. he is really not doing good in any other sense).
page 1-21-28: no injuries. however, they enter the lacrima laboratory.
page 1-21-30: Dainix disinfects Falst’s wound, painfully. Falst claws at Dainix’s wound, painfully (don’t worry, Dainix gets another cloth and starts disinfecting his wound shortly after).
page 1-21-33: Falst falls off the table and begins inscribing a healing life lacrima. i wondered if this helped Dainix to prevent corruption. but as Erin said on page 1-6-12, “if it was afraid of life magic, it would have never possessed me.”
page 1-21-35: presumably Falst was injured by his cave corrupted mother’s claws. and we know how fast corruption sets in. if it could be transmitted by claws, it would have already. and if Falst had it festering for years, he’d have turned already.
page 1-21-36: Dainix gets tricked into healing himself with the life lacrima. this may have been a good thing, as despite being more injured than Dainix, Falst unintentionally made it so that only one of them got corrupted.
page 1-21-37: Falst’s wounds have closed over. his arm is still broken, and his soul barrier hasn’t been healed to the same extend Dainix’s has. they turn to enter the void hammer, which i suppose may have the highest concentration of ambient void so far. this may be the point where corruption begins setting in, once they cross over the quarantine airlock.
page 1-21-38: Falst reads the word “lacrima” which is surprisingly close to his mother’s name “Erima”. this enrages him enough to punch the control panel with his injured arm. even back at page 1-21-21 he was cautious enough to use his good arm when collapsing the tunnel. despite the mental pain and unpleasant memories, disturbing the bone shards, bruising, and blood clots has to be bad for him.
chapter 22-daybreak:
page 1-22-17: Falst’s arm cricks. lotta strain being completely put on his dominant, and still injured arm.
page 1-22-18: Falst’s claw injury is hit hard by Glort, which makes a crack noise. probably not good. i don’t believe Falst is hit in the shoulder by Glort, so i doubt that it is accelerating the corruption. it also doesn’t break the skin, so whatever damage it is causing probably is just opening his soul barrier wide through sheer number of injuries sustained.
page 1-22-19: Falst hits a wall hard. no NEW visible injuries, however, that can’t possibly help at all.
page 1-22-28: Dainix’s fire arm is fizzled and subsequently regenerated. no lasting effects. he does seem somewhat void resistant in this state, so i wouldn’t be surprised if this Glort had some water in it from the lacrima array.
page 1-22-29: Falst falls down again. he is visibly not doing so well. he will remain on the floor until further notice.
page 1-22-31: Dainix is suffocating, and his arm returns to normal, if a little burnt. he can handle the fire though.
page 1-22-34: bop
page 1-22-37: Falst breaks his arm again, supporting Dainix’s entire weight. again. he then uses light magic to cut away the Glort holding Dainix. interesting side note, this is the only way ferin can use any type of magic, as their souls are usually closed to the elements.
that should be the last injury. so as promised, an explanation of how bad this is.
souls sometimes have channels to let in and let out ambient magical energy. people with these channels are called mages because doing so allows them to cast magic. sometimes, if your soul is opened up by an injury, you can get a little bit of energy in there. in some cases, the ambient energy is strong enough to just flow in regardless. mages usually need to purge excess energy after casting in order not to experience a buildup of corruption. each element corrupts differently, life causing mutations, water wasting you away until you are decayed from the inside out, stone making you slow and lethargic until you can’t or won’t move, etc. a good mage will usually not have an issue with this, unless it is of an element they have no channels for. in this case, even if the amount of corruption is small, it will remain inside and corrupt gradually until it is removed. there are some ways for mages to remove elements from other people, and it is usually better to receive treatment directly as soon as possible. Falst is a ferin, with no channels whatsoever, and there are no void mages at all (baring exactly 1 notable exception). cave corruption, or void corruption as we the audience are able to know, CAN, however, be treated. by filling the soul with another type of energy, you can flush other energies out. this would of course subject you to an extreme case of that element’s corruption, but it is better than becoming a cave crawler as it can usually be immediately treated. Falst is extremely lucky to be friends with the elemental magus, who is most likely very well versed in removing corruption of all 6 traditional elements, and who is currently the only one with a shadow of a chance of manipulating void in any way.
now, Voidy is still alive and as such has ultimate control over the void, just as the light dragon has ultimate control over light magic. the light dragon can give magic to those she chooses, and as such it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Voidy, if he wanted to be helpful, could also remove Falst’s corruption. whether or not he WOULD do that is another question. honestly, Erin is probably currently deciding which elemental corruption would be least unpleasant for Falst to deal with at the moment.
all in all, i suppose Falst has a great chance of survival. despite him healing fast enough to potentially seal the void INSIDE him, i do think Erin has a good chance to, as he so delicately puts it, “fix it”.
i was looking back through old tumblr asks and can’t seem to find where i got it into my head that you can “push the void out” of your system. perhaps i just assumed and went along my day, perhaps it is there and i can’t find it. whatever the case, this is significantly more of a problem than i initially assumed. however, i put my utmost faith in Erin, not least of which because Falst cannot die before his story comes to a resolution (and that light magic thing was a bombshell of a drop).
Erin specifically pointed out that Danix’s Soul Barrier is intact, and he’s not showing traces of corruption by the Void. The Dark Lines on Falst along the cuts he got from the Cave Crawlers in the middle-right panel are Erin seeing that that isn’t true for Falst. Falst is going to become one of those things if Erin can’t do something about it.
Normal elemental magic can’t help Falst now, even Alinua’s healing magic can’t fix this…
But the vessel for the Void Dragon might manage something. Erin might be the only mage in the whole setting who has a chance of pulling this off, and he has that hubris to boot that he’ll try it. God help that boy, he’s gonna try it.
I’m suddenly starting to sympathize with Tess’s comment that the stupidest things she can do right now is to leave her brother unsupervised.
So that looks like void corruption, which suggests that cave crawlers are in fact infectious.
It’s good thing we have the only Void Mage in the world and an incipient paladin, I guess…
I’m sorry for not showing up. Aniway: Anonymous Aurora Question #22: If you had to choose one sector of the storm you would like to explore (without dying), which one would you choose, and what would you find?
All of them seem more than mildly horrifying to me, but if the no–dying clause lets me safely eat lava (or at least mess with it) I gotta go for Fire. But it’s kinda a moot point cuz Erin sorta hecked it up for everyone.
Though… Lighting could be cool as well, what with all the spontaneous glass creation, if that works the same in Aurora as for us. Still sticking by Fire probably tho. I wonder if Water would demonstrate it’s secondary property of mimicry and create phantom landscapes though… probably not, as there’s nothing around to mimic,… excEPT THE TRAVELLERS! Um. I don’t think it works like that tho. But it would be cool! Spherical space levels of creepy! …I wonder what the sector borders look like– I mean, Fire borders Life and— I’m rambling.
Honestly I would have sat down on the rock, smoked a joint if I had one, looked around for some good land, this is for the kids, I’m just along for the ride.
Analogy Corner:
It’s fine, he can fix it. It’s nothing. Like the nothing that has settled itself in his chest.
…I’m speculating here, referencing void corruption an’ all. I mean, I’m so late nobody’s probably going to even see this, but I figured I’d do it anyway for completeness sake.
Okay, I know we’re not *as* into shipping as most fandoms are because we all gravitated towards a story written by an asexual creative, but I gotta say: I love how this page feeds both Dainix/Falst and Erin/Falst shippers without even really trying to, ngl. xD
For mobile readers.
Alt-text: don’t worry cap’n we’ll buff out those scratches
“Nothing” seems concerningly similar to “void”.
Oh god you’re right, it does
is that erin hubris ™ talking? for sanity purposes i’d hope not q-q
Yeah feels like it. The ‘if I find another lacrima missing’ feels like overcompensating for desperately hoping Falst isn’t dead.
I read it as he was talking to Ralst and going more for banter, then seeing just how bad his injuries are which unsettled Erin.
me too
Oh no
Ohhhh, Erin is worried he can’t fix it, which is exactly why he’s saying he can.
He’s betting that he can, but he’s worried, which is why he isn’t telling Dainix how terrible Falst is doing.
That’s my read on it too!
That’s not good
Call me crazy but something tells me that he can’t fix it.
If Falst ends up permanently hurt, I swear to god Red, I WILL send you a very stern letter.
Hear hear!
Hear hear!
Floof protection squad unite!
I have a wooden sword, and parts of an old Halloween costume! Also flipflops! I’m ready to fight.
The good news: Dainix’s doing well
But Falst’s corrupted, far as I can tell
Noo, Erin’s face when he sees the injury!!
Ok, so, first of all, I very much appreciate your comment work, second of all, I was wondering, whether you know german. Is that void corruption? Well that’s not horrifying at all. Very cool Red, thanks for the nightmare fuel
Oh… that looks a little like void stuff…
No way that could go wrong, go ahead and touch the caustic black goo, Erin!
and that’s where opening up about your feelings will get you. take notes, kids!
That’s… reassuring. (It’s not, I lied.)
no but actually if he’s permanently messed up ill be crazy insane feral clawing at the walls
Basically, if red hurts the ferin, she’ll have a dozen more on on her trails
Public question!
A friend of mine recently read the series, and was baffled that people don’t ship kendel and alinua.
SO. WHO DOES?
(No wrong answer, I just wanted to know.)
I do, btw
i mean how many times have they tried to die for each other. thats the measurements of a relationship right there
Thing with shipping in Aurora is, Red is Ace.
I get sibling vibes from Kendal and Alinua
The sibling vibes of “I SWEAR if you die I WILL kill you” to their sibling and “I SWEAR if you TOUCH MY SIBLING you WILL regret it” to everyone else
The closest I can get to it is shipping them as siblings, if that makes any sense? Maybe I’m just a sucker for fantasy siblings.
I do! I’m not a die hard shipper, but I do think they’d be cute.
You seem like the only one who does. Good to know I’m not alone. 🙂
At least there’s ONE person of culture besides me. 😉
(Also I’m incredibly happy to hear that, I freaking love romance stories but romantic SUBplots annoy the everliving heck out of me)
I did initially but they seem more to get along like siblings “older sister/younger brother” and with Kendal being weeks old it seemed weird to ship him with anyone.
thing is, knowing Red the chances of them getting together in canon are extremely slim
Maybe he’s spooked because of the void magic coming from an outside source?
He better be ok
I think he’s dying, that’s his soul cracking.
FALST NO
relax, your soul cracks whenever you take an injury.
however, you may continue not relaxing, as this is much, much worse than a simple injury.
however however, you may relax again. cave corruption IS treatable in very rare, and time sensitive, circumstances. this is most likely one of those, as Erin is on the case.
His hands are shaking, he has dread eyes… yeah he can totally fix it
Oh for THE LOVE OF TWINS, WHY?!?! WHY IS EVERYONE SO BAD AT STAYING ALIVE AND HEALTHY?? WHY?? THIS IS TORTURE
WHY ARE THEY ALL SO BAD AT STAYING ALIVE AND HEALTHY, THIS IS KILLING ME
FALST NOOOO
Speculation: to clear corruption from Falst, Erin will have to use void manipulation. Walter will gloat but he will help him do it, thus fulfilling his promise/prophecy of Erin becoming the first ever Void Master.
“I can help him if you give me control”
Void Corruption here we go falst don’t die pretty pls
I don’t think that’s void corruption. I think that’s Cave Corruption.
Unless they’re the same thing? Am I missing something that indicates they’re the same?
Yeah i think those are the same. There’s an extra lore page that goes into this a bit further
The one about the seventh element
Same thing, different names. Nobody knew for certain that the Void Dragon was, in fact, a real thing and the cause of the so called ‘seventh element’ until some hubristic fool waltzed headlong into a trap and made direct contact with him.
Erin be like: “I can fix him”.
Voidy be like: “I can make him worse”.
I’m surprised that the page has been up THIS long and still no one has given a translation for the runes
Well I took a quick peak, and it seems no–one has because Erin is still holding the same diagnosis spell as last page (I read “[show] heartbeat show brea[thing] reveal damage reveal substr[ate]”)
guys dont worry he said he can fix it
Ahhh, now I’m going to be worried all weekend.
Let’s hope Erin can actually fix this because as bad at self-care as Falst is, this party needs a lancer and a tank and they’re both the same Ferin.
What’d Ya bet erin is going to have to make a Faustian bargain with Walter to save Falst?
Is he corrupted!?!
RED! You always do these cliffhangers on Fridays!
aw hell naw man, he’s turning into a crawler right? it that what that is? or is it gloopy la Grande’s “essence” in the wound? either way falstliterally just connected his new best friend dannix so there’s gotta be a way to save/”fix” him. bro this is good. falstix 4ever
YOU’D BETTER!!
He better fix it,
SHIT NOT MY FAVORITE CATBOY (even though it looks like he’s not a catboy actually)
Falst x Dannix (Falstix) was real for me many eons ago lol
TL;DR: Fireboy may like a second opinion on his companion.
God, imagine asking Erin for a second opinion. “I am the Elemental Magus! I AM the second opinion!”
Every element gives him another opinion. If he could control ligh and a hypothetical ninth element he’d be all nine dentists who recommend a toothpaste in one.
This CRACKED me up XD
Kudos to making the most ominous possible “Nothing. I can fix it” there has ever been. This comic is something special.
NOT MY CATBOI!!!
*INTENSE FALST FAN FEAR*
UH OH
Falst is extremely lucky to be friends with the elemental magus, who is most likely very well versed in removing corruption of all 6 traditional elements, and who is currently the only one with a shadow of a chance of manipulating void in any way.
now, Voidy is still alive and as such has ultimate control over the void, just as the light dragon has ultimate control over light magic. the light dragon can give magic to those she chooses, and as such it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Voidy, if he wanted to be helpful, could also remove Falst’s corruption. whether or not he WOULD do that is another question. honestly, Erin is probably currently deciding which elemental corruption would be least unpleasant for Falst to deal with at the moment.
all in all, i suppose Falst has a great chance of survival. despite him healing fast enough to potentially seal the void INSIDE him, i do think Erin has a good chance to, as he so delicately puts it, “fix it”.
hmm. i suppose i have egg on my face.
i was looking back through old tumblr asks and can’t seem to find where i got it into my head that you can “push the void out” of your system. perhaps i just assumed and went along my day, perhaps it is there and i can’t find it. whatever the case, this is significantly more of a problem than i initially assumed. however, i put my utmost faith in Erin, not least of which because Falst cannot die before his story comes to a resolution (and that light magic thing was a bombshell of a drop).
i also remember her saying void corruption could be fixed by flooding the soul with another element, i think it was in the past few months
You were close with the presumed name of Falst’s mother. It’s “Emira,” not “Erima.”
Ok so… working theory here is that Falst is either badly hurt, or got cave corruption, aka, Void corruption.
So…
Anyone thinks Erin might start cashing in deals with the Void Dragon in order to fix this problem?
That’s my bold and specific prediction.
I mean you save shit for later, but like worth it?
It’s good thing we have the only Void Mage in the world and an incipient paladin, I guess…
oh nooooo will erin have to use the dragon to fix the void corruption????
I’m sorry for not showing up. Aniway: Anonymous Aurora Question #22: If you had to choose one sector of the storm you would like to explore (without dying), which one would you choose, and what would you find?
I would choose the life sector because then I could find cool new plants.
Okay, I know we’re not *as* into shipping as most fandoms are because we all gravitated towards a story written by an asexual creative, but I gotta say: I love how this page feeds both Dainix/Falst and Erin/Falst shippers without even really trying to, ngl. xD
NOOOOOOO I FINISHED READING NOOOOO I LOVE ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS WHAT NOOO I JUST SPENT THE ENTIRE DAY READING
bro Falst x Dannix is what I’m thinking RN.
When Erin says he can fix it, does this mean he has a makeshift, haphazard, barely conceived, hairbrained idea that has never been tried before?
the genuine distress on Erin’s face
Uh oh, “I can fix it” does not sound good.
