Hm, he wasn’t fueled so much by guilt or rage last time, when fighting VoidErin. And GoH’s trauma gaze should’ve given him a nice boost of guilt and rage to go.
i think maybe it’s bc the sludge is like. forcing them to see their tragic backstories, which is messing with their emotions, and bc soulfire is kind of fueled by emotion all that mess is making the fire unstable?
Pipe down Dainix! Can’t you see Falst is trying to ponder an orb?
Falst looked like he was almost falling unconscious in the first panel before Dainix’s scream roused him; makes me think he was relying on the assumption that Dainix would be able to carry him out when the door breaks. No luck there, neither can move much now.
Dainix has some concerning looking lava veins under his poncho you can see in panels 3 and 5. Very cool imagery, along with the snaking fire arm along the slime’s body, but it further suggests full crucible may be just around the corner. Seeing how quickly his arm keeps fizzing out through contact with the slime, I’m not sure how effective it would be, and it could just cause more problems.
Prediction for next week: … well, less “prediction” and more “hope”. Alinua! Erin! Backup!
I appreciate why it’s taking them a long time to get here. Soul energy soaked ground, slowness of life and stone magic, needing to be careful to avoid a cave in; it makes sense that they’re not here yet as they’ve only started digging a few in-universe minutes ago.
So first: Am I the only one getting Manga-Antagonist Vibes from our lovely Goo of Horrors? Anyway: Anonymous Auora Question #12: If the floof squad went on a roadtrip together, who would be doing what?
I believe this was once answered by Red herself. If memory serves, it went like this:
Erin is the driver;
Falst rides shotgun to be in charge of music (and annoying Erin in the process with his playlist);
Alinua’s face is plastered on the window, looking at the sights;
Tess wants to stop at every ridiculous roadside attraction;
Kendal is also looking at the sights and chilling in general;
Dainix is in the back and is in charge of snacks.
I’m happy to suffice with what Red has given us, but I just have to add one more little thing:
Erin and Tess take turns driving, but Erin is a total backseat driver whenever Tess takes over, reminding her “Don’t turn on red!” and “Use your turn signal!” and “YOU’RE GOING SIX MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT TESS I SWEAR TO GOD–” but she never listens to him and it drives him up the DANG WALL.
With how it looks to be going into his mouth, I think it *has* brought him dinner – or rather, is trying to *be* dinner.
I think there’s more romantic meals than trauma goop shoving itself down your throat, but hey, it’s sure to leave a strong impression!
I do quite like the theory, but I’m not so sure how much water (pun intended, you’ll see) it holds. Tahraim said that soulfire could burn at the bottom of the ocean, those tend to contain very little air. Maybe aurora oceans are different, or maybe he meant with a supply of air. Or maybe Dainix just isn’t strong enough for that yet…
I wonder if Dainix has to learn how to burn water or burn the Glorp creature in order to be fully utilizing his powers?
Or is Glorpy the actual limit of Dainix’s abilities? A kind of Achilles heel? “Crucible fire can burn at the bottom of the ocean.”
“But not Glorp.”
“Right — avoid Glorp if you can.”
Or maybe Danix is too tired to sustain it? Tahraim did say that the fire will go away when he calms down or gets tired. Since he did just do the whole fighting kendal, and then voidy and then the spider and cave crawlers. there probably isn’t much fuel (as in energy) left in the tank.
I think the fire burns in the same way a limb exerts energy or moves? Basically, it’s been blasting away for awhile so now he needs a nap and a snack to recharge it.
I think the reason Danix is having a hard time keeping his fire lit her is that the GoH is absorbing the elemental energy. The dias in the center of the room has lacrimas from all the elements, and I think that it was an ancient weapon attempting to harness/manipulate the consumptive Void. Something went horribly wrong, forcing the Ancients to abandon it sealed in this secret lab. Now the Goo absorbs anything and everything it can, including the raw elemental fire that Dainix puts out.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO MUCH WORSE THAN I WAS IMAGINING THIS IS SO MUCH WORSE AAAAAAAAAAAAA DAINIX NO
It might be time to go full demon form. Or be rescued by the huge rescue party that’s currently on the way to save them…
That´s assuming those two separate rescue parties don´t require their own rescue by now…
If it becomes a dragon it could even be the chapter boss
The red mother hen is pushed to the wall
Can fire ignite Jeff, we ask one and all
OhnO
Is his fire having trouble staying lit against the sludge? That looks like it is fizzling out.
Maybe it’s a season three Zucco situation? He doesn’t yet have a strong enough source for his fire now that it isn’t fuelled by guilt and rage?

NO. BAD SLUDGE. NO ASPHYXIATING FAVOURITE LONG-HAIR FIRE BOI. Not him, not his fire, BAD sludge!

I found that post I mentioned. I’m surprised that I wasn’t that far off with my memory.

Oh, this is amazing, and thank you Anonymous for bringing up this topic, otherwise I would never have found this post ^^
I am sorry for asking a question already answered. I’ll do better next time. ?

Yes. I watched the train arc finale of Demon Slayer for the first time like a week ago and the similarities to Jeff were FREAKY!
!
At least buy Dainix dinner first before you pin him to a wall and kiss him like that.
I just laughed out loud on the bus

DAINIX NO
I think we’re setting up for a big damn heroes moment, aren’t we?
getting Inque trying to drown Terry in Batman Beyond vibes from this
Alternate theory: maybe there’s not enough fuel (air?) for the fire to stay “online”?
I do quite like the theory, but I’m not so sure how much water (pun intended, you’ll see) it holds. I see more cracks.
This can only end well.
Oxygen’s running out…
I think you have it: the Glorp (my name for the creature) is smothering Dainix to put out his fire.

You fool. Don’t try to gag someone who can breath fire.

that doesn’t look good
NO. BAD SLUDGE. ABSOLUTELY NOT. NO HURTING DAINIX.
On a side note, I’ve finally caught up with you all, so now I have to wait.
This is relatable

TL;DR: Mayday! Mayday!
Crack signifying something good? What is this?
