We already are short on arms, Red should rather add another two pairs of arms, which, in the best case scenario, should be attched repectively to a purple elf-girl and a slightly less purple pompous nitwit.
For such a nice person (mostly) Red is very cruel to her characters. But as a storyteller (viewpoint) I appreciate you gotta make your character sweat hard to shine more brightly.
Ponder-Orb II: Attack of the Stone
Using fire underground? Bad. Using crucible form underground? Worse. Using crucible form underground, a power heavily tied to emotion, while still not fully recovered from the trauma eyes? Literally the last resort. He’s barely holding himself together looking at the cracked speech bubbles; if he takes another hit from those eyes in this state he might flare completely out of control.
As painful as the glort’s trauma eyes were, that haunting look of hope Dainix gives Falst in panel 8 seems to have really struck him. He’s in a position that, as far as he knows, he’s the only one that can save them and his companion has complete trust in him and is depending on him. A very new and raw feeling; the only equivalent I can think of is when he protected Alinua during the prison break.
Falst’s expressions this page deserve a note; despondent and tired in panel 3, surprised in 5, panicky in 6, and ending with surprised again but more peaceful and soft. That look reminds of him in the latter half of 1-10-30; given the contexts, I think it’s safe to say he and Dainix are firm friends now.
Dang, THAT’S the consequence to the Voidhammer Jeff Amalgamation Chromatic Aberration Uh–Oh Eyes attack! Clever! I hadn’t thought of the ‘ffect on Dainix’s control!
Honestly it’s the idea for how Dainix going fire mode causes problems that makes the most sense to me, if it actually happens it’ll probably hurt a lot
Kendal: Peaceful yet melancholy mix of violin, piano and flute in a major key
Alinua: Cheerful high fantasy flute/string melody in C Major, snippets of Life’s motif in there
Erin: Complex orchestra of mid-to-high pitched instruments with a few solos, sounds cheerful and almost cocky at times, orderly yet fast-tempoed at the same time
Falst: Pronounced percussion, main melody is a sneaky yet boisterious string instrument, in a mix of major and minor key at a medium tempo, gets remixed to be more heroic after he joins the party
Tess: Energetic, boisterious mix of the same main instruments in Erin’s theme, but simpler and with a cool percussion beat drop
Dainix: Soft and gentle in a mix of minor and major keys, main melody is a piano but it has a few other soft instruments in there as accents, gets remixed to be chaotic, fast-paced, fiery and in an entirely minor key when Crucible Mode activates
Collector: Eerie, slow and sinister mix of chimes and a low-pitched brass instrument in A Major
Voidy: Deep, whispery and ethereal mix of a very low and deep brass instrument and a faster-paced electric keyboard, in F# and starts slow but gets faster-paced
Void Erin: A mix of their two themes and instruments in F#, Voidy’s theme is dominant but there’s snippets of Erin’s theme in there, think of the Queen/Berdly fight theme in Deltarune
Shrike: Brash, mysterious, sneaky violin with a slow percussion, in a minor key
Tynan: Harsh electric guitar with thunder sounds and intense percussion in a minor key, starts mid-paced and gets faster
Vash: Has the same instruments as Kendal’s theme but it’s an entirely new melody, sounds heroic and confident with a medium tempo
Life: Electric keyboard and synth instruments that sound alien yet calm and peaceful at the same time, some of Alinua’s instruments are in there, major key
The Paladins: Heroic trumpet with a flute and some other instruments in a cheerful B flat, sounds like a hero’s theme
Wow, okay, you seriously know your musical stuff! Nice! Ooooh, do you know the music theory and game design YouTube channel “Scruffy”? Cuz if you don’t yet, I figure you’d like it.
Dainix: I’ll be good by Jaymes Young or Get home by Bastille
Kendal: What was I made for by Billie Eilish or Stargirl Interlude by the Weekend
Alinua: Tightrope from Michelle Williams or Oblivion by Bastille
Erin: Necomancin dancin by Bear Ghost
Tess: You’re gonna go far, kid by The Offspring or Lightning Strike by A Silent Film
Falst: Blame by Bastille or I’m still here from John Rzeznik
PopsicleJolt already made a wonderful reply, but I’d still like to put down my interpretation if that’s okay :’)
Kendal: deceptively simple piano melody, with variations and changing accompaniments that throw it in new light each time.
Alinua: gentle, melancholic, chromatic melody on tin whistle, accompanied by harp and violin.
Erin: fast jaunty string quartet with a surprisingly nuanced viola solo. The viola is all that’s left when Voidy (bassoon + low brass) has control of the body.
Tess: full energetic orchestra (with subtle nods to Erin’s theme in the strings), from which emerges a soft heroic melody on French horn.
Dainix: oboe / cor anglais, with swelling strings. Maybe throw in some muted brass for Crucible mode?
Falst: I agree with PopsicleJolt on the sneaky jumpy strings! But also a piano part that occasionally becomes dark and full of crashing chords.
1: That was a lightning lacrima, this is a stone lacrima. The only light lacrimas we’ve seen so far are the robot brains. 2: The lightning lacrima Falst used to blind Erin was already inscribed; Falst knew enough to break the lacrima in order to unleash the elemental energy all at once. When he says that he’s only studied life, he means that the only spell he knows how to inscribe is a life spell.
This page is BEAUTIFUL- Dainix’s eye, the fiery speech bubbles, the glow from the fire– also reading it while listening to the TOTK Colgera battle theme was a vibe

Who doesn’t love some good magic jargon? Doubly so if it’s a normal word but capitalized. Triply so if it’s two normal words concatenated and then capitalized. Simple. Understandable. Heckin’ awesome.
The fact that Dainix is losing control this quickly indicates just how much at the end of his emotional rope he is. And honestly, with both the deadly dungeon crawling with seemingly no way out and the psychological attack digging up traumas old and new, I can’t blame him.
So I haven’t been commenting as much lately; I still read every new page when it comes out, just like I have since 2019, but I’ve found that lately I’ve had less to say and overanalyze. Maybe because I’ve been focusing more on other things in my life. So going forward, I think I’ll just keep lurking on here until I find something interesting to say.
Bad news guys, my DM found out about the trauma goop monster, so now I have to take notes on how they defeat this thing. Fire seems to be a good option…
Are any of your characters blind? Are any of your characters capable of somehow seeing (or otherwise sensing their surroundings effectively) without using their eyes directly? (results… may vary on that last one, as a certain robot has demonstrated (I’m being vague to prevent spoilers))
I like that, so the “damsels” will extract themselves from the caves/predicament before the floof squad shows up for the big rescue…Did we blow up any chance of that happening by posting about it in the comments? LOL this, like the idea of Temple Grandin watching cartoons/anime just makes me laugh, but no not out loud;
The effects on the lettering for Dainix’s lines is -chefskiss-
I really, really need Erin to show up now please! He may be a pompous ass at times but he could at least give the gloop another target to pummel –
The way that Red does speech bubbles is truly incredible! I love how the glowing red/orange part of Dainiax’s implies that his voice is being distorted; while Falst’s wiggly faded bubbles make his voice seem weak and soft (Because he is hurt).
Red has been doing this through out the comic and it is amazing!
Ooo, Dainix’s marks are kinda glowy! That’s cool. And his speech has devolved into solely commands and statements! Less good but also cool. Rock on with the fiery speech bubbles, king. Also, Falst’s eyes also do the thing that Dainix’s eyes did when he got psychic damaged by the Jeff, but it’s interesting to see the difference between them because Falst’s are naturally more bright than Dainix’s.
See, the obvious show of trust here is Dainix’s to Falst, but I’d like to note that Falst also seems to be showing zero fear towards Dainix’s flame form, despite the whole… everything about that.
All that is to say, AAAAAAAAAAAAÆÆHHHH WHY ARE THEY SO CUTE AND AWESOME‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽
(There’s something very poetic about Falst using his claws to spellcarve. They’re part of his ferin nature, part of what has him routinely branded a monster, part of what identifies him as part of a people that can never be mages, and guess what? He’s using them to do magic HIS way, with his astoundingly quick learning and pragmatic cleverness. He uses his claws to precisely and delicately create spells, and HEAL and– Yeah idk, I really like the vibe just I guess.)
Ok, now would be a good time Erin
For mobile readers.
Alt-text: the boys now have exactly two functional arms between them
Dainix looks so freaking cool
Well, that’s not good. Better than when Goh was still alive, but like… not good.
(Also, I doubt Goh died from that. Erin still needs to tell us what it was, that works best when its alive to prompt him)
They’re gonna kill me one of these days I swear.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
RED MY HEART I CANT TAKE THIS
I KNOW RIGHT
Aurora Question #81: Should Red remove the other 2 functioning arms?
The boys have suffered enough; Red should fix catboy’s arm and let them both have a nap after all this is over
No fixing hottie’s arm? You got something against him?
I mean, his arm will be fine after he gets to calm down and it stops being made of fire.
We already are short on arms, Red should rather add another two pairs of arms, which, in the best case scenario, should be attched repectively to a purple elf-girl and a slightly less purple pompous nitwit.
nitwit is a bit harsh, but pompous or short sighted are both earned.
For such a nice person (mostly) Red is very cruel to her characters. But as a storyteller (viewpoint) I appreciate you gotta make your character sweat hard to shine more brightly.
No, clearly she needs to start in on the legs! That way there’s even more of an excuse for our boys to literally lean on each other.
I think the Purples should arrive and they should lose one arm each. 4 arms between 4 people!
Equal rights equal limbs
WUH OHH…, ERIN NOW WOULD BE THE *PERFECT* TIME PLEASEE…

I love that you share the details you see! (smile)
Aww, thank you. I do get rather passionate about the details in this comic, don’t I?

“I trust you”
Mass *Oh crap* face.
Anonymous Aurora Question #3: If every Aurora Character had a personal song that represents them, which Aurora character would have which song?

*clap of amazement*
wow. that’s. wow. great job. the real question is, who is best represented by the prologue theme from TOTK ?
Wow, okay, you seriously know your musical stuff! Nice! Ooooh, do you know the music theory and game design YouTube channel “Scruffy”? Cuz if you don’t yet, I figure you’d like it.
I’m not a musician or anything, I just listen to a LOT of video game and anime soundtracks and I occasionally play an instrument.
Uh, such a fun idea! Here are my takes:
Dainix: I’ll be good by Jaymes Young or Get home by Bastille
Kendal: What was I made for by Billie Eilish or Stargirl Interlude by the Weekend
Alinua: Tightrope from Michelle Williams or Oblivion by Bastille
Erin: Necomancin dancin by Bear Ghost
Tess: You’re gonna go far, kid by The Offspring or Lightning Strike by A Silent Film

a bear ghost enjoyer, nice. Is it bat that I thought of the Immigrant song for tess?

Doesn’t a broken lacrima lose its power?
I get the feeling that whatever life spell Falst conjures up will be very visible to Aliuna. A flare if you will.
Possibly. But he hasn’t got a life lacrima.
“I know a LITTLE about lacrimas. Enough to blind the mage with one.” he’s carved light spells before, he can use the light orb to make a flare.
What page was that quote on?
1: That was a lightning lacrima, this is a stone lacrima. The only light lacrimas we’ve seen so far are the robot brains. 2: The lightning lacrima Falst used to blind Erin was already inscribed; Falst knew enough to break the lacrima in order to unleash the elemental energy all at once. “the boys now have exactly two functional arms between them”
opposite arms so they can hold hands afterward (:

homie trust and bonding moment let’s gooooooo
Something about a character just straight up saying “I trust you” will always get to me
fellas, is it [gunshot]

Danix struggling with control reminds me of one version of the Super-powered evil side: “can their instincts take a message please?”
Can’t talk now, turning into a demigod. BRB.
Bad news guys, my DM found out about the trauma goop monster, so now I have to take notes on how they defeat this thing. Fire seems to be a good option…
That is one evil DM lol, hope your character’s backstory doesn’t have too much trauma in it /j
All jokes aside, Red is like the evil DM who tells a good story, but WILL make your characters suffer in the process. Matt Mercer energy if you will.
OOF
Are any of your characters blind? Are any of your characters capable of somehow seeing (or otherwise sensing their surroundings effectively) without using their eyes directly? (results… may vary on that last one, as a certain robot has demonstrated (I’m being vague to prevent spoilers))
In this story arc, Falst has swung between boss awesome and barely alive more often than a seasick pendulum.
TL;DR: Now this is a real trust and teamwork exercise. What crap was school feeding us?
Oh, like making the students communicate by making loud animal noises at each other? Ahh, fun times.
Dude, you didnt study life. You read a chapter in an afternoon. Youre a natural
Falst is going to do some very rudimentary magic, and Erin will remark that he’s lucky he didn’t blow himself up in the process.
I like that, so the “damsels” will extract themselves from the caves/predicament before the floof squad shows up for the big rescue…Did we blow up any chance of that happening by posting about it in the comments? looks like things are… heating up
i’ll see myself out

Their freindship is having a trial by fire
Somehow managed to completely forget this 🙁
He brings some Stone, enough to release
Them from there, but truly to Falst’s unease
Dainix’s lightly flaming speech bubbles look so cool!
Falst can probably count the number of times someone has said that to him on one hand ?
Spell carve the ORB? LIKE THE ONE THAT WAS IN THE ROBOT’S BRAIN?
folks my soul lacrima theory rises again!
FREAKING GOOSEBUMPS
