Really? From my interpretation I see Life pulling Alinua away from a painful scene/view to focus on the dream communication instead of exposed to realities that might drive Alinua to madness. But I one view among many.
Don’t know. I believe they are deities or living embodiments. So if you can count immaterial gods as species then sure?
Then again biologially speaking species are anything that can reproduce with each other so if the primordials an reproduce then yes. Otherwise no. But I don’t believe they can
Thats also a good point. Species can be defined by similar physical/genetic characteristics. So would the primordials be considered similar enough to be thought of as individuals of the same specie or could they each be their own specie?
Also a good point. That does raise the question of if the primordials are similar enough to be classified as one species or each their own. We haven’t seen enough of the others to know how similar/dissimilar they actually are.
(Apologies if this is a double comment)
Are they aliens? I mean, they were here first. Technically, if gods and mortals are all made of Primordial matter, then they’ve always been a part of them.
I feel like there might be other primordials, which might count as aliens. I’m not sure there’s other planets, since the formation of this one was mostly an attempt to contain Voidy.
You would think there must be other things out there in the universe because otherwise why would the primordials fight to the death against the void dragon? If they weren’t fighting for self preservation then it must have been to protect something.
No,only the dragons. ;3
Void seems dismissive of the Primordials in general, but refers to White as “my Other”. Which suggests that either they’re two halves of a whole, or that there’s more than one light and void dragon and they are somehow naturally paired. It makes me suspect that White created or empowered the Primordials as her servitors or defenders, and that the dragons are the only true fundamental entities.
I think they are unique beings just as Sun Wukong is (in ‘Journey to the West’) while they are unique in origin they do share awareness, intellect and consciousness like humans but find the 3 races (and all living beings on Aurora) alien them. (If Life and V.D. are representative for the other five) But the Primordials are not ‘Alien” because they are the source from which all life, geography and atmosphere come from on Aroura. I think they are superior in awareness and intellect then the races given Life’s image as giant elfoid form with ten eyes and six ears (implying Life[they/she] at least eight different foci{?} it can track at a time.)
I love the subtle expression of the eyes of Life. They seem to say “Ugh, finally you realised” The four uppermost ones almost seem to say “Good! She’s catching on!”
@Question Master (replies aren’t working for me)
Technically a species is defined by a group of organisms being able to sexually reproduce and create more of their kind.
So, as far as we know, they aren’t a species.
It’s not easy to see because of the scale, but when she peeked through the hole she saw a bunch of tiny, indistinct, creatures and trees being distorted and (in the creatures’ case) writhing in pain as the little green lightning bolts/cracks wrapped around them. When you knos this all has something to do with Primordial Life, it’s not too hard to make the connection to the Chimeric Plague!
Ah the age old question of “What would you do if there was a whole big civilization built on the outside of your own prison, so escaping would doom them all.” Classic.
“ZZZIP” … I’m sorry, but my mind keeps making that sound more comedic than it’s meant to be.
Interesting how even Alinua’s SFX’s are green, her panting here, the ellipsis from a couple pages back. Probably done to fit the colour scheme and feel of these pages, but maybe it also reflects Life’s own reactions to these events.
That look of wide eyed terror on Alinua’s face in the second panel; she knows exactly what that was. She may have spent a decade dreading and mentally preparing for her eventual Chimeric plague event, but seeing it happen as an observer, and having lost the fear of it happening, is something else.
So I was right, this is the story of Life, and that was an early, maybe even the first, chimeric plague event. Now, what will Alinua make of this? Feel sympathy for Life after seeing this. Anger that Life saw what her actions did to the world yet continued to do it? Something else?
Prediction for next week: Scene change. This seems like a good point to stop and transition either to Kendal getting up or, since we haven’t seen them in a while, the boys in the bunker.
Poor Alinua. This brief venture caused her to nearly have a heart attack. She’s been afraid of having that sort of chimeric explosion and doing just that.
Also, I’m not Question Master, but I have a question for you guys: Which Floof squad duo is your favorite?
Personally, my favorite is Falst and Erin, because they have very different views of the world and life experiences that causes them to disagree a lot. But they’re also somewhat similar, and they care about each other. I’m interested to see how their dynamic goes, romantically or platonically.
I’m stuck between Tess amd Alinua. Cause their interaction earlier was adorable.
And falst in erin (same reason as @Goldfinch)
And kendal and Alinua (cause i like my cute plantonic relationships dang it!)
…Sh*t… That’s got to have been a nasty inner turmoil that Life has been saddled with since her resurrection; the desperation to see outside her solitary confinement versus the perpetual guilt of knowing that the only way she could do so would ruin an unknowable amount of lives. I think this might be why she refused to directly intervene when Alinua was cracking open Zuurith’s prison; she didn’t want to risk going overboard and destroying what might be her only glimpse of the surface, along with everything in the general vicinity.
A: hey Life can we have movies
L: no we have movies at home
Movies at home:
@Aulde watch this, I have ramblings to share;
I’ve seen a lot of people theorizing as to Life’s relationship to the Chimeric Plague and everything. What’s already been put out:
– Life caused the chimeric plague by looking at the world
– She can look at it safely through Alinua
– oops I accidentally plant murder disease
So…
– If the other Primordials were woken up and tried to look at the world…
– What would happen?
– Can we please have fire murder disease
Ik the other primordials are sleeping rn, so if it would be possible to wake them up like Life has (ofc we don’t know how that really happened I’m pretty sure, or if it’s even possible, so this whole thing might be completely invalid) and they tried to look at/ put a part of their energy in the world, would it be like the chimeric plague but other elements? Or since disease type things are a uniquely life-y thing, would it be different? Any ideas?
I personally would love to see what would happen if Fire woke up and decided to take a peek at the world ?
…you know, now that you put it like that, it kinda sounds like Fire’s awakening would be relatively uninteresting. I mean, it would be BAD, and incredibly traumatic, but just…less weird and fantastical, i guess.
If the Chimeric Plague is exploding outwards from a point and making all the Life present in living things to grow in random ways, i.e. to become more Life-y, then the Fire equivalent would just be exploding outwards from a point and making all the Fire present in things more Fire-y. In other words, it would literally just set everything on fire. The Fire Plague would, in fact, just be a really really bad wildfire.
#IDon’tKnowWhatIExpected
+ Fire Large scale wildfires
+ Stone Earthquakes and all the fun that goes paired with that
+ Water Maybe a flash freeze of large areas? (Assuming water encompasses ice in this world)
+ Lightning Some kinda EM wave? Tho it would do less damaged in a world without modern technology
+ Air Freak tornado
That would lead a lot of credence to the each primordial has an avatar in the floof gang theory. Ali with Life, Tess with Lightning, Dainix with Fire…
And the effect of ‘peaking’ into the world varies from primodial to primordial. So for Life the chimeric plague. Maybe for Lightning it could be that ‘chosen by the sky’ thing, like a random lightning bolt embued with Lightning’s power.
Life’s eyes have looked a bit sad to me the last few pages, but now they look… depressed.
It isn’t hard to piece together a reason for that. She’s probably lonely, and while she most likely has fallen in love with the creatures born from her latent power, she cannot gaze upon them without putting them through torment. Bonding to a vessel seems to be a way to circumvent that, but that also comes with a lot of risks. The memory we just saw is likely her first experience when her mind was reawakened, back when the Collector made an oopsie and became immortal. I don’t think Life remembers that moment fondly.
Current theory is that when the Collector woke Life she desperately tried to escape her own prison, causing the Chimeric Plague
Realising that her escaping would cause untold destruction she decided to use the plague to move a portion of her own being into Alinua, allowing her a window to the world and a means to directly influence it
She said she’s looking for perspective, it could be that she’s not entirely against the Collectors plan, but seeks to better understand the consequences by observing the world around her.
It’s gonna get real interesting when Alinua and the Collector meet lol
It might be that Life is trying to get Alinua to empathize with her. Alinua doesn’t trust Life because she sees Life as the source of the chimeric plague which caused her a lot of grief in her early life, constantly worrying about if she was going to hurt anyone. When she says she’s giving Alinua perspective, Life’s essentially saying “do you think *I* like that I hurt people?”
For mobile readers.
Alt-text: whewf that one panel was tiring, back to The Void we go
“Memory-1?” 1?? As in, there’s more coming??
My bet is on how Life found Ali, perhaps a trace of her past, or a glimpse of the other primordials
I should not have italisized that 1 it looks terrible
Tosh! It was/is an interest idea to think about, @Testing.
Really? From my interpretation I see Life pulling Alinua away from a painful scene/view to focus on the dream communication instead of exposed to realities that might drive Alinua to madness. But I one view among many.
This comic is so good! I love it
Startling back she returns to the void and says “No.
This is your memory.” Now how did she know?
Aurora Question #35: Random thought, if there are already 7 primordials (counting Voidy as one), does this mean they’re a species? Are there aliens?
Don’t know. I believe they are deities or living embodiments. So if you can count immaterial gods as species then sure?
Then again biologially speaking species are anything that can reproduce with each other so if the primordials an reproduce then yes. Otherwise no. But I don’t believe they can
Technically the ability to produce fertile offspring is only one measure of a species as there are many organisms which reproduce asexually.

VD was called a sun eater, which implies the existence of other solar systems (or at least stars) maybe that’s what they were protecting.
No,only the dragons. ;3

this shit just keeps getting crazier and crazier and i am here for it
I love the subtle expression of the eyes of Life. They seem to say “Ugh, finally you realised” The four uppermost ones almost seem to say “Good! She’s catching on!”
Thank you for your insight/input!
@Question Master (replies aren’t working for me)
Technically a species is defined by a group of organisms being able to sexually reproduce and create more of their kind.
So, as far as we know, they aren’t a species.
Reproduction doesn’t have to be sexual, as there are plenty of organisms that reproduce asexually.
I have never been this early what the hell am I doing. Thanks Red!
Yeah Im an idiot, what exactly did she saw?
The chimeric plague
It’s not easy to see because of the scale, but when she peeked through the hole she saw a bunch of tiny, indistinct, creatures and trees being distorted and (in the creatures’ case) writhing in pain as the little green lightning bolts/cracks wrapped around them. Oh, so is THAT what people mean when they talk about “The Prisoner’s Dilemma”?
I think you should google it. (encouraging smile).

To further my last comment about the previous comic, she got a little touch of Life, where as the Collector got a lot and went crazy.
Life has been trying to establish a vessel for a while, but every attempt until now has resulted in what we saw: the Chimeric plague
Daily reminder to drink water
TL;DR: Get a therapist, Life.
In a way she has.
There once was primordial green
Who just wanted to be seen,
But a plague broke out,
From her actions, no doubt;
Now she shows Alinua the scene.
Poor Alinua. This brief venture caused her to nearly have a heart attack. She’s been afraid of having that sort of chimeric explosion and doing just that.

Mine has to be Dainix and Kendal
Their conversation in the prison is one of my faves

That makes a lot of sense

So. Dainix’s awakening was a vessel for fire?
Ideas for what would happen:
+ Fire Large scale wildfires

Thank you for sharing your ideas!
life feels less and less “primordial” as this goes on, they feel very human right now.
Life looks so sad 🙁
So, my answer to “What if Fire woke up and spilled some of his energy into the world…?”
I’m thinking we have Fire-Eye Boy and his backstory, do we not…? =)
