got DAM that ghoul got SMOKED absolutely DESTROYED
Soulfire OP pls nerf 😛
His memory fails him when becoming the fire
All but the pain, anger and guilt dire
It was in this moment, the goul knew he fucked up
The Obsidian Ghouls rose, dark-clawed,
radiant with molten cores.
They surged forth like the water needed to stop them,
As down a mountain it pours.
They skewered Drann and drove back the rest,
Downhill they had to fly,
Across the stone and sand they fled,
To wicked claws Dainix lost his eye.
“I… wish I could tell you what happened,” he says,
“All I remember is how it felt.”
He remembers the flames ripping out of his body,
“It was rage and pain and grief and guilt.”
I wonder if there’s ever been anyone like Dainix among the Ignans… a recognition of the symptoms, even if they don’t know what soulfire is.
You call those fire claws? THIS is a fire claw.
Yeah, I figured Dainix’s memory of this event would be fuzzy; if he’s struggling to recall his recent transformation, I bet it’d be worse the first time it happened. Though it looks like we, the audience, might see a bit.
Remember the first two panels of 1-1-6 where Vash kicked one of the Collector’s confused chimeras in the face? I’m getting similar, though a fair bit darker, vibes from the last two panels here.
Well, it looks like Dainix’s soulfire might be effective against the ghouls, but something must still go wrong for Dainix to go into exile and seek to destroy the demon. Could Dainix’s powers and potential immunity to the ghouls be what Caliban wants to use in their project with Tahraim?
Aurora Ghoul so real
i mean i guess some fire can affect them
Now I am imagining Dainix punching things until he is too tired to stand, passing out and waking up surrounded with dead bodies.
Alright, looks like no one’s said it yet so:
“Flameo, hotman!”
That face-melting is raw as hell
Did you know:
Obsidian forms when viscus(does not flow well) lava is rapidly cooled and is technically a glass.
(OBSIDIAN ghouls, I think you can see where I got this from)
This must have been an awkward thing to regain consciousness from, having no knowledge of you turning into a flaming beast except for its emotions.
icarusancalion:
I think I remember it being said somewhere that he was not the first, so while it is probably vague at best they might know, but I could be wrong.
I think those guys might be kind of screwed.
There once was an Ignan boy
Whose inner fire could destroy
Even beings of fire.
But its anger dire
Means victory comes with no joy.
Guys… I’m starting to think maybe attacking this guy might be a bad idea
*surprised pikachu face :0*
Also the desc doesn’t lie about the ponytail, the only deadlier professions in fiction are street tough in a biker bar and mom. (Red’s trope talks anyone? Please go watch so you have context for this reference)
So. So he was so fire that he eradicated the demons made of lava? Dayum.
Erin honey, I think you might should thank Kendal for stopping that little brawl of yours when he wakes up. Profusely.
Whoa. So soulfire is hot enough to melt obsidian? How did Erin only suffer second-degree burns and not third when Dainix touched his arm? Maybe it was a contact time situation; Dainix could’ve been grabbing the ghoul’s face for several seconds that weren’t conveyed on-page. Or maybe the obsidian was already weakened, due to what it’s sitting on, and the soulfire just finished the job.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see Dainix’s fire form sharing several similarities with the the obsidian ghouls?
Alleyyy:
I believe the deadliest profession in fiction is “gruff but fair father figure”, that guy who’s always either a lumberjack, a smith or some similar manly profession.
TL;DR: He played barbarian without knowing it.
I wonder if Dainix is being an unreliable narrator here when he says he doesn’t remember. Because normally when we’re shown a character failing to remember something, the pictures aren’t so clear. We get blurry pictures or broken fragments. Could it be that Dainix actually does remember everything, and just doesn’t want to talk about it?
Or maybe Red just really wanted to draw an awesome fight between a fire monster and a bunch of lava monsters. You never know!
mr.golem lava monster got absolutely bitch slapped in that last panel. RIP them.
golem monster got absolutely bitch-slapped. RIP golem lava monster, you will be missed.
Bluefire:
GM (probably Erin): “You’re surrounded by lava elementals, what do you do?”
Dainix: “I rage and cast Burning Hands. Rinse and repeat until they’ve become even meltier than normal.”
GM: “…They’re immune to fire damage-”
Dainix, calmly: “Did I stutter?”
@Saga That’s actually kind of interesting. He has done it before, after all, when he was talking with Kendal. It’d make sense that he would want to give these people he barely knows only what they NEED to know.
@Alleyyyy
You forgot mentor.
I wonder what his colleagues thought when they saw this.
“Woah, Dainix just exploded!”
“Is that something that can happen when hit by golems?!?!”
@storylineobsessed
I did! Also, cartoonishly evil disneyesque villains.
Lava, meet plasma…
Lava has armor. I wonder what it’a made of.
I just rewatched the Trope Talks on the Hero’s Journey. Now I want to see Red (and maybe Blue too) get Isekai’ed into Aurora.
@Monkey in a Shoe — ahhh, thank you. So he’s not the first and the Ignans then will have past precedent to fall back on… probably exile.
@Raptorclaw
*Slams hand on table*
I would watch SIX SEASONS-
the best solution to fire immunity is just
more fire
The entire Ponytail, or just the hair tie?
Ah, heck! Caught up to current.
This is a fun comic. Can’t wait to keep reading 🙂
I want to see a magical girl transformation of Dainix into fire creature. I also want to see a magical girl transformation of Alinua into Jonny Ten-Eyes.
