Red I think your calendar is off; spoopy season was two months ago.
This page, remembering OSP’s “The saga of Grettir” video, I’m always amazed at Red’s ability to create such unsettling, horror inducing images. Black background, limited colours, very much fear of the unknown and less is more going on.
Kendal’s panic is gone, now he seems sad and tired, very tired. Whether these figures are the citizens of Vash or figments of his subconscious, Kendal certainly isn’t in the mood to fight back, let along resist now.
That’s my guess, especially with how sad and regretful/resigned Kendal looks in the last panel. For the next page, I’m kinda expecting an apology to them for not being Vash and not being able to save them.
Sorry, can’t help myself: plural of “homunculus” is “homunculi” – Latin root stuff. Again, can’t help it: English major with more issues between the ears than would fit in the page, don’t mean to be an @$$…
The use of paneling on this page is incredible! The slight tilt of the first one combined with the perspective… *chef’s kiss.*

Kendal, buddy, I know you’re upset, but I can see your thoughts clearly on your face right now.

Maybe stabbing yourself and awaking the starmetal inside you would have summoned Vash for long enough to release the souls of his people, but you had no way of knowing that, there’s no guarantee that it’d work, and you probably wouldn’t have survived. You are Vash’s last child, and I don’t think you realize just how much he treasures you. The people of Vash are dead, and their souls are suffering, but you cannot let that weigh you down or you may never be able to free them. Take that pain and use it to push yourself towards your goal, I doubt the people of Vash would want to see you stalling because you’re sad, even if just for the sake of their own salvation.
The hands are still stuck to his back. He’s going to wake up and Erin’s going to be like, “Why did you suddenly grow a bunch of weird goopy void hands on your back? FASCINATING.”

I mean these are important questions! *Kendal screams in pain in the background*(Ignore that, it’s just the wind.) What character development you ask? Well two people who obviously don’t like each other get stuck in a room together(well one person who doesn’t like the other person, but the other person just wants to be friends) and there is going to be character development that ends with them talking about their feelings which will have been the secret to getting out the whole time, and then they escape and become besties.
um vash isn’t dead he is just very trapped. also did you all miss the part where the collector asked Vash where he went? HOW IS NOBODY ELSE FREAKING OUT ABOUT THIS?! she is going to find out kendal exists, and that will be really bad.
Everyone is talking about the city Vash being dead not the God, and people aren’t freaking out as much about about the collector because currently Kendal is being attacked by goop while unconscious and Dainix + Falst just got dragged of the edge into a massive cave and everyone is worrying about the bad stuff that’s right in front of them not the stuff that’ll impact later
Stars is THE BEST song in Les Miserables and the movie CUT IT OUT and I was SUPER MAD which is weird because I watched the movie first, now I have the original soundtrack on a CD
