Oh boy. It’s analysis time.
He probably thinks he’s gonna die. And I guess he’s apologising to either the people of Vash, or the floof squad. Or maybe Vash himself. As for the hands, I’m guess that supposed to be symbolic of the citizens of Vash attempting to pull him into the grave. All very interesting imagery.
1. Gets stabbed.
2. Lost contact with god.
3. Ends up in weird darkness dimension.
4. Asks to see their god so they can ask them some questions.
5. Comes back more powerful and at peace with themselves.
The show is called “Legend of Vox Machina”. The goddess is called Everlight. And she is yellow and fire and shiny. Which would make Vash blue Everlight.
I wouldn’t say the Highly Symbolic Coma Dream Zone is that easy to draw. Pulling off depicting a huge cavernous dome with just a bunch of squiggly lines is no easy feat.
OH, WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT “well, at least the hands are gone” YOU PREMATURE FOOLS
in any case, this is… strange. i’m quite sure that ‘Blue Sun’ is Vash, as he is in the Collector’s lab, and that’s who Kendal is apologising to. but these hands, i would guess, are the unreleased souls of Vash’s city, or a manifestation of Kendal’s guilt
in the extra lore pages, Red mentions an underground reservoir below Vash, within which the remnants of the starmetal meteor sleep. i think that that is where Kendal is right now (in some weird spiritual way), tied to the meteor by the metal in his bones. perhaps he is resting upside down, and Sun-Vash is actually below him, since the Collector is far deeper in the Earth? then again, does space even have any meaning here?
Vash didn’t manifest a new, different soul every time he incarnated; he created the body from scratch each time, and those bodies disintegrated after he unincarnated, but until Kendal came along, it was always the same soul in those bodies.
No! Must wait until Next Monday to find out what happens next!! Cliffhanger! (sob, sniffle!)
Good job of building suspense to an important revelation in your story. Drama! 🙂
Oh, look at Mr. Steven Universe over here, talking to the cluster about his guilt complex.
Easy to draw maybe, but it’s still a beautiful shot with the elegant soft swirl patterns and simple yet cool colour palette. I guess this is the long awaited break Red promised her drawing hand; I wonder how long it’ll last.
He’s conscious and blaming himself; standard Kendal behaviour so far. Like Erin said, the next part of Kendal’s recovery has to come from himself, and from his reaction in the last panel, he doesn’t really want to stay here.
I fear these hands might try to grab him and drag him down, but I’m cautiously hopeful that they won’t. If they are figments of Kendal’s imagination or doubts I could see them dragging him down, but if they’re the citizens of Vash I don’t see them hating Kendal, let alone blaming him for anything. Next week’s page could go either way.
At first I thought he was apologizing to Vash, again, even though Vash made it perfectly clear that he had nothing to apologize for, but I’m pretty sure he’s apologizing to the dead people of Vash(the city). That’s… also not his fault, but at least he’s got some variety with his guilt complex. Remember, variety is the spice of life!
Did you know…
(No corporal things to give random facts about, weird mindscapes are not something I can easily make a comparison with)
“Kay, this does not look good here, um…” -Scout
But what are we calling this pit that isn’t the scream pit, the soul pit, the blue pit, the hand pit, the not scream pit, incorporeal pit, mindscape pit? Frankly I have no idea
I’m reminded of the hands in the gateway of Truth from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
It looks like the hands are starting to reach for the side of Kendal that’s facing up, as if finding leverage to prepare for dragging him down. Maybe they aren’t representative of death, but it’s not looking good here.
It’s exactly like the Scream Pit! But with less gladiators, less fighting, more utter deafening silence, less being a real place, and wAY more blue. Okay I lied it’s only like 99% similar to the Scream Pit
On an unrelated note, I asked for a cork board, red string, and thumbtacks for Christmas. Wish me luck getting them so I can have an Aurora conspiracy theory board in my room
Man, the hands from pg 1-18-22 are bacc
Just when I thought Kendal would get some rest…
I did kinda see it coming, I just didn’t want to believe it 🙁
Hopefully these handy bois are chill? Please?
Please be chill
I’m guessing these are the souls of Vash’s citizens and that’s why he’s apologizing to them, since he swore to himself that he’d save Vash so he could do the funeral rites for them and set them free from undead torment. Because he’s here, he’s probably thinking that he’s dead as well. I think what he needs to do to return to his body and wake up is swim up. He sank down here in the first place, so the only place to go is up.
There once was a blue-voidy place
Where sword-boy went when he spaced.
He still might drown
If the hands pull him down,
But his guilt is not evidence-based.
was literally just chilling and then my alarm for this went off and when i tell you i have never run SO FAST in my LIFE-

I think the lost souls of Vash think of you as their last child Kendal, let them help you upward
Pike Trickfoot, is that you?!

Kendal is cleric of Blue Everlight confirmed! 🙂
That sounds interesting. I tried to search for it, but I can’t seem to find it. Can you tell me where I can find Blue Everlight
It’s from the show “Critical Role”. The cartoon (not for kids) is on Netflix.
The show is called “Legend of Vox Machina”. The goddess is called Everlight. And she is yellow and fire and shiny. Which would make Vash blue Everlight.
it’s not on netflix, it’s an amazon thing

Bad touch! Bad touch!

I don’t think that’s a sun, I think that’s meant to be the stone that the Collector ‘healed’ over Vash the city
on the edge of my seat, little notebook and pen in hand ready to take copious notes for theories on what the hell is up with Kendal
Bro what’s the deal with the cavernous dark
Where he gazes to light shining from the roof’s arc
Looks like he’s apologising to Vash’s soul, then the hands appear.
They could be the souls of vashes other forms and Kendal apologizing aggravates them.
Vash didn’t manifest a new, different soul every time he incarnated; he created the body from scratch each time, and those bodies disintegrated after he unincarnated, but until Kendal came along, it was always the same soul in those bodies.

The thing that gets me is the absolute look of dread on his face when he sees the hands
Notably not “I’m sorry. I stabbed myself in the gut and nearly killed your only connection to the outside world.”
At first I thought he was apologizing to Vash, again, even though Vash made it perfectly clear that he had nothing to apologize for, but I’m pretty sure he’s apologizing to the dead people of Vash(the city). Oh man, has Kendal gone to visit the souls of Vash now that he’s done channeling the god Vash?

also. the moment I saw those last two panels I knew
must redraw.
the art dragon compels me.
Oops. You were doin alright before ya started all that self-pitying. Vash’s got some hands ready for self-pitiers.
Are these the hands of Aliuna frantically trying to heal him? Or the hands of beings drawing him deeper into Death?

Oh, you failed? Well, you can CATCH THESE HANDS
I’m guessing these are the souls of Vash’s citizens and that’s why he’s apologizing to them, since he swore to himself that he’d save Vash so he could do the funeral rites for them and set them free from undead torment. *Artists:* Hands are hard to draw.
*Also artists:*
Ah, but *creepy* hands are easy to draw, for the exact reason ordinary hands are hard to draw
There once was a blue-voidy place
Where sword-boy went when he spaced.
He still might drown
If the hands pull him down,

The perfect way to restock your comic buffer!
Aurora Question #15: Oh I’m back from the dead. Neat
Not a question, but, yes, it’s very nice to be re alived.
(Or it might not be, I’m not sure, I’ve never died)
Question 2: Steal the spice trade.
That’s not a question, but the Dutch did it anyway.
Well, hello hand-some
Hell yeah, I’ve made it to the present.
Don’t tell them you want to go down! That’s how you end up in the oubliette!
(5 internet points to whoever gets that reference)
Ugh, it’s going to take forever to wash the souls out of his hair.
>HUG PIT
Okay I know what I want for Christmas
Totally restful night.
DEFINETLY a veeery restful night
