couldn’t he also use wind magic to force pieces of the storm away from eachother? shatter the storm with a tornado or someting to that affect. when vash defeated the storm in the first place, it did run away in little pieces.
Oh boy. “Hey, can soulfire kill a storm?” “Hey I know, I’ll freeze the storm!” Yeah, there’s no way that these two plans could ever counteract one another.
Also, @ImuyanMangoCat, did you get a new profile picture, or have you always had that and I’m just dumb?
he’s going to freeze the storm? would that create a blizzard, or just a ton of snow? or is he going to create an ice dome over the city to prevent flooding? like a giant igloo
V.D.: Hey, maybe you could try letting me-
Erin: NO!
Sorry Tess, as much as we love scene changing to you and your bro and your “punch the problem” theme, it took a powerful city god with starmetal power to beat him last time. That lightning might not be much but it’s doing more than attacking Big T’s incarnation; maybe it’ll stack with Erin and Dainix’s attacks.
Yeah, stone magic is a no-no, especially with a certain elf doing aggressive renovation on the prison. Fire is also probably out of the question, for Erin at least; most of it would probably dissipate before reaching the body of the storm. But freezing the storm, particularly the part outside Zuurith right now, woud take away a lot of the water.
I see Tynan being defeated by multiple factors: Erin freezing a large chunk of the storm; Tess attacking it further in it’s weakened state; Dainix delivering the definitive blow with soulfire; and Kendal, maybe a newly formed Zuurith too, forcing Tynan to swear another vow of non-interference with the sword.
I swear to god if he is taking the time to write all these thoughts in his journal…
Everyone: THERE IS A CITY TO SAVE!
Erin: But this is a PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENT!!!
…Snow day? Time for a snow day? Still might have to worry about buildings collapsing under the weight of the snow, but it will definitely take longer than a flood!
Huh. So on page 2 or 3 of this chapter, I mentioned that one or both of the Ruunasers might try severing Tynan’s connection to the rest of his storm with interfering lightning magic; it seems I predicted correctly. Including the part where it turned out to not be effective. (Sorry, Tess…)
It’s a good thing Erin’s casting power is quite high, or else his plans would be even more futile.
ImuyanMangoCat:
May I ask who that character in your profile picture is?
The return of Erin’s narration! Except now he’s panicking much more than he was the first time!
Tess, pointing at the tornado: See that storm? I wanna punch it.
In another note, I probably won’t be commenting for a few updates because I’m going on vacation and I’m going to be very busy doing all that tourist stuff.
Considering the fact that there’s a tornado (and huh, I actually called it that Tynan’d spawn one), and tornadic supercells tend to also generate large hail, it probably already is hailing somewhere in Zuurith.
Though it is admittedly possible that Erin’s interference could make the situation worse if that’s the case. Then again, it could make things better–weather systems are finicky like that. I suppose it’ll depend on how much of Tynan’s consciousness remains in the rest of his storm, and how aware of and able to manipulate it he is when incarnated.
Sorry to burst your bubble Erin but freezing the storm would either create hail to a scale never seen before, or turn this devastating storm into a devastating snowstorm. And in the chaos of everyone trying to leave, massive hunks of hail or snow that make it impossible to see won’t help.
nothing to see here, just erin having a crisis. hopefully he’s able to find a solution before he either a) decides to ask VD for help/try using void magic or b) his brain completely short circits and he loses concisnious.
not surprised that tess’s attacks aren’t working too well. a single lightning mage against a weather god? yeah you’re not going to get far.
i was going to make a comment on the type advantage chart but then i realized that while electric does resist electric, electric is super effective against both water and flying. oh well.
In my brain there is an association between let it go from frozen and let it burn from the Buffy the vampyre slayer musical episode,
also, he has a theory…
Turn the rain to snow. Not only does it come down slower, it also doesn’t go anywhere once it lands. Even better, nobody’s dying, nobody’s panicking. Some people might even start having fun. Which is kryptonite to Tynan. (1 inch of rain has as much water as 10 inches of snow, but, you don’t need very much rain to produce a flood in a single drainage area if it is large enough and it’s raining fast enough. So I’m not too worried about everything being buried under 10 feet of snow, since 10 inches of rain isn’t necessary.)
Agree, that’s the most likely answer is turn it to snow. An ice dome would just melt as the rain hit it.
Also dammit man people are waiting on your turn! lol xD
Here’s the thing. I don’t think Erin can freeze the entire storm in 1 go. But if you freeze a chunk of moisture out of a cloud, you just tore it away from the cloud. If you do it right, you could be yanking out large ice boulders from the cloud (and ice is a lot denser than cloud, so that’s a huge chunk of cloud) and tossing them away from the city, slowly ripping the storm apart.
I don’t know how long it would take for a storm god to notice his special cloud being slowly shredded like that, but I bet it would get his attention pretty fast. Now how his sister keeps him *alive* after that is a different question.
@ImuyanMangoCat well, Tess WAS hit by a bolt of magical energy as a child, which had a transformative influence on her life going forward, including a separation between herself and Erin. AND their parents were diplomatically significant. AND Tess spent her introduction to this comic searching for Erin in a vast wasteland.
Veggiesnake:
Not only that but they do share some common character traits; both are headstrong and very expressive, both care deeply about their friends, although Tess is by far the stronger physically out of the two and it shows in her tendency to punch her way out of rough situations.
Warm, friendly people
Best suited for specific climates but they can survive outside of it thanks to magic
Have lost arms and found them again
Braved (or will brave) elements opposing theirs to help people they care about
Erin simply isn’t creative enough! (or he doesn’t have the power) with earth magic he could simply create drain wells all around the city with lightning rods attached! we don’t really have enough information about elemental magic for me to know if this could be done.
Apparently Erin thinks in paper.
Given how we first met him as, this seems utterly correct to me.
Always consider your options on other turns so you’re ready for yours.
erin paper monologue! now featuring Soggy™
also, is zuurith does snow??
Zuurith newspapers headline tomorrow: “Elemental Magus yells at cloud”
Tess sends lightning up.
Sounds like Erin has come up
with a solution.
The return of Erin writing his own memoirs!
This solution reminds me a lot of Cardcaptor Sakura and how she caught the Watery card.
Can’t wait for the Elsafication of Erin
Frozen? As in time? Useless? As in muda? Tess is even yellow.
How do we stop a storm? Freeze it!
Watch it backfire as the city is now pummeled with hail lol
Hmm It seems that Erin has run out of ideas. I hope something happens before he does something desperate,,,
I’m sorry everyone:
“LET IT GOOOO LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
couldn’t he also use wind magic to force pieces of the storm away from eachother? shatter the storm with a tornado or someting to that affect. when vash defeated the storm in the first place, it did run away in little pieces.
Oh look veggie snake is right, it was Tess
Oh boy. “Hey, can soulfire kill a storm?” “Hey I know, I’ll freeze the storm!” Yeah, there’s no way that these two plans could ever counteract one another.

WooHoo! I know it’s frustrating, Tess, but Erin’s not wasting time–he’s using his brain.
And I think his idea might just work.
Love how, if you have just one type of magic, it becomes like a go-to club, but if you’re the Elemental Mage, magic becomes more of an art.
TL;DR: do I smell an IDEA?
@ImuyanMangoCat
*deep breath in*
vindiCATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
you might impress him if you destroy the city first
V.D.: Hey, maybe you could try letting me-

Tess wanting to punch Tynan makes me happy and I cannot explain why. It just does.
I swear to god if he is taking the time to write all these thoughts in his journal…
Everyone: THERE IS A CITY TO SAVE!
Erin: But this is a PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENT!!!
“Yes! Time to use the spell list of Saskatchewan!”
?Do you wanna freeze a rain stooorm??
looks like Tynan needs to take a chill pill
(a sheep, a drum and a snake fall off a cliff)
Erin is so dramatic, lol.
…Snow day? Time for a snow day? Still might have to worry about buildings collapsing under the weight of the snow, but it will definitely take longer than a flood!
@Aromar Dyspos yeah I’ve recently gotten a new pfp
Appropriately enough, it’s bloody snowing here today. Whereas three days I ago, I was running around in a t-shirt.

“Frozen…”
Foreigner – Cold as Ice starts playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP8Rbct_50Y
@Aromar Dyspros: Oh. Oh no.
Oh boy this is about to be Erin’s Disney Princess Moment. Should I put on let it go before the next chapter?
Man boutta turn into elsa
next page: “Tess? We’re gonna need a bigger runic circle”
To Mat:

(Genius loci characters are fun like that)
We should take zurith and push it somewhere else.
alt text: yes…… we must simply tell Tynan to Let it Go…….
Sorry to burst your bubble Erin but freezing the storm would either create hail to a scale never seen before, or turn this devastating storm into a devastating snowstorm. And in the chaos of everyone trying to leave, massive hunks of hail or snow that make it impossible to see won’t help.
I hope Erin means a more metaphorical kind of freezing, because I don’t think a blizzard is going to be that much better.
Freeze a dome over the city time?
Mmm. The solution seems to be Ice, Ice, Baby.
nothing to see here, just erin having a crisis. hopefully he’s able to find a solution before he either a) decides to ask VD for help/try using void magic or b) his brain completely short circits and he loses concisnious.

Any true wizard would just cast fireball and call it a day

@Vocabulary man, that’s brilliant
I love that Tess’ response to a storm throwing lightning at her is to throw lightning right back.

@TheUnknownGame
I didn’t expect anyone to ask but I am VERY glad that you did! That’s me! It’s my cartoon persona, her name’s Mango Cat and I drew it myself.
@Shards huh, I was thinking he would try to freeze the storm. That actually makes more sense.
Hey Red, I attempted to make Kendal on Hero Forge. Hope you like it.

He’s about to do something completely reckless isn’t he?
Any good wizard would just use fireball and call it a day

Wait, if Erin is Elsa does that make Tess Anna?
@ImuyanMangoCat well, Tess WAS hit by a bolt of magical energy as a child, which had a transformative influence on her life going forward, including a separation between herself and Erin. AND their parents were diplomatically significant. AND Tess spent her introduction to this comic searching for Erin in a vast wasteland.
they’re literally the same character
@veggie snake.
Well now the real question is, who’s Olaf?
@Veggie snake, son now the question is: Who’s Olaf?
Veggiesnake:
Not only that but they do share some common character traits; both are headstrong and very expressive, both care deeply about their friends, although Tess is by far the stronger physically out of the two and it shows in her tendency to punch her way out of rough situations.
@ImuyanMangoCat, veggiesnake
Dainix is Olaf.
Warm, friendly people

I rest my case.
did erin cause the snow day im enjoying? coincidence? maybe.
did erin cause the snow day im enjoying?
My boy’s gonna make some snowflakes!
Ah so this is why it’s snowing so much where I live
Is he going to tell Tynan to go chill?
piononowan: i doubt it, but it would be funny if he did.
Dammit I meant So now, not son now
Time for Tynan to cool it, then? We could all have an ice time laughing at that one. Snow problem!
And then it clicked ™️
and he knew
OH HE KNEW
Erin simply isn’t creative enough! (or he doesn’t have the power) with earth magic he could simply create drain wells all around the city with lightning rods attached! we don’t really have enough information about elemental magic for me to know if this could be done.
I’m not sure he’s especially powerful at each element, although I imagine the limits of his raw power will become clear soon.
Hmmm, so we’ve cut to Ali and Falst, Erin and Tess, june, and dainnix. I think we’re either gonna pan back to kendal or cut to see what June’s up to
OH THEY’RE GONNA DO SOMETHING INSANE
WE GET AN INNER MONOLOGUE!!!! WOOOOO!
@Greg, any chance you live in northern Louisiana?
BEAT HIS ASS FALST!!!
Inner monologue in paper thoughts!!!
No one is talking about how cool “I’m frozen. Useless! …Frozen…” is, that’s a really cool line
ye gods! no seriously Jesus H. Christ that’s intense . Also Erin Backstory reveal pretty please. Aslo ” I’m frozen useless frozen is quite angsty.
