I laughed out loud when I saw Falst in the 3rd panel, I’m considering making it my Pfp. The usernames would be “tired Falst”
I had Erin as my pfp once, the username was “angry Erin” it was a screenshot of him waving his arms in the air after Falst stole his bag in the forest.
Erin is not mad. Just disappointed. Well, alright, he is a little mad. And maybe frustrated, rather than disappointed. And maybe a tad tired. But mostly he is mad. Yeah.
Talking about the weather? Really? You’ll be asking whether he’s read any good book next.
I’m in agreement with everyone else; panel 3 is amazing. Erin and Falst, both looking 110% done with today while Alinua and Tess try to appear friendly and smile, though I feel only one smile is genuine.
That looks Alinua gives Falst in panel 7. Is she a little annoyed at him for sneaking onto the mountain in the first place, or could she be disapproving of the powder’s lingering effects? (Ali: If that were MY sleep flower they’d be no headache afterwards; Shrike uses too heavy a dose)
Congrats Tess, you’ve finally found both an audience and time to talk storms. I could see Erin going “ALL THIS FOR A STORM?!” initially, but he would still listen to her, brother-sister and all that. By the time Tess is finished and the gears in Erin’s brain figure out what this means, I predict his look of annoyance to be replaced with a big, wide-eyed “OH S**T!” face.
Next weeks prediction: Either three pages of what I just said or one or two before scene changing to the prison. Erin, now informed of this info, may seek to leave right now and get Kendal out now, thus learn about the fight. He may also speculate that Zuurith might know about Tynan already but is suppressing info to prevent a panic, something I doubt the rest of the party will approve of.
TL;DR: Oh no he’s mad that you broke laws in a city whose god is all about strict laws… Was that really a good idea? Also, lightning lady, what is so wrong with the weather? It’s fine.
Apologies to those who were waiting for the Pastrivia answer, finals hit me hard. Anyhow, congrats to Hiiii, Vengeful Puffin, bookfae, and anyone who guessed B. A sef and a half for how long Kendal didn’t sleep for. And a secondary congrats to anyone who guessed that no one would be waiting for them in their room (I guess the people who guessed guards were also right, but they were guarding the entrance, so I’m not sure if they count). And hot (or cold, hehehe) off the heels of one, let’s do another PASTRIVIA! I think this one’s gonna be a tricksy one ):-). What’s the first descriptor Tess used when describing Erin to Falst?
A: Short, dark hair?
B: Skinny?
C: Tattoos?
D: Pale?
@Evil Tree, I can just imagine Tess pulling out a small board filled with diagrams and going (at least partially) Pepe Silvia on the Floo- oh wait, no Kendal.
Rampant theorizing time:
Tynan is returned, that much is clear. Tess knows, probably for some complicated metal caste/lightning mage/chosen by the sky sort of reason, that the storm on the horizon isn’t natural, and might even know who it is. Tynan feels safe returning because Vash is gone, but Kendal isn’t. Thus, probably after Erin tries to go Elemental Magus on him, Kendel will be a) released on purpose because they know he’s the only one who has a chance of defeating Tynan, or b) is released in the chaos of Tynan’s return and the subsequent torment of Zuurith (possibly the city and the god) or c) escapes sometime before Tynan does the smashing of the city.
And we’re safe! Unless Shrike goes completely nuts…. which I guess is a possibility. And Tess is finally going to tell us the plot of this arc! And Falst continues to be a mood.
I wanted to thank everyone for responding to my shipping question on Wednesday’s page, and I would say that shipping isn’t bad if it makes you happy, even if the characters you’re dead-set on shipping haven’t even interacted in canon. Shipping is supposed to be fun, and it is as long as people are respecting each other’s opinions. I will say I had a very bad experience with ship wars back when Star vs the forces of evil was still airing, which caused my infinite hatred for love triangles, so I can see why people might argue it can ruin/derail the narrative because that’s exact what happened in that show’s final season. All this to say that I really appreciate stories like this where romance isn’t necessarily a main part of the plot, or, if it is, it’s done well and flows naturally from the characters. Love triangles can go to hell though.
@Humanoid Clay, I think the answer is A? I know she said like all of these and I don’t have the exact order copy-pasted in my brain.
I like the storm elf guard’s facial hair. It looks kind of Mongolian to me.
Panel 3. Falst: Somehow already hungover. Alinua and Tess: Giggly drunks trying their best to look sober. Erin: The designated driver who’s had enough of their shenanigans.
Tynan: “FINALLY, someone noticed me!”
Judging from this chapter’s cover, I’m pretty sure Tynan is going to interrupt Kendal and Dainix’s duel/potential therapy session. Where better to get a lot of attention than a crowded arena?
Erin: You’re telling me. You came to a totalitarian society. And got my friends in trouble. BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER.
Tess: Yes! Exactly! Now you’re getting it bro.
In Tess’s defense the weather is caused by a monster storm god, but they don’t know that.
This will be my first comment on the comic i have been reading for months. Yay! I decided to start commenting when i discovered that someone else ships Falst x Alinua (Hiiii). Also, tired Falst is absolutely hilarious.
Erin this is why you don’t leave two emotionally driven people who aren’t familiar with cities alone in one that’s foundations are built upon rules and laws…can’t exactly blame him though, because, well….old books.
I love everything about this page! I’m commenting late but it was the perfect beginning to my stressful day—I was so excited to see yelly Erin and the conversation between the four of them. Can’t wait for more!
@Humanoid Clay: Finals have occupied a staggering amount of my time too. And oh jeez that’s a tricky one…I think it’s either D, pale or or B, skinny
Tess finally gets to talk about the plot! Only been like three chapters lol.
Honestly I’m surprised we havent bounced back to Kendal & Dainix yet, its been a while.
Finals just slammed me hard as well. I’m feeling Erin’s mood rn XD
I’ve been absent for a while, mostly due to exams making my schedule difficult to manage and thus lacking time to keep up with this comic. I’ve been thinking about whether or not I should continue my cliffhangers as I just haven’t felt motivated to do them. After looking though the comments of each page since my last post I’ve noticed that no one has missed them enough to mention their absence. Because of that, I have decided that I will put them on the shelf for the time being. Maybe I’ll start doing them again, after tweaking the format a bit (the running joke I came up with for this chapter was a tad too ambitious and was one of the reasons I found it hard to motivate myself to continue). For now, I’ll regress to posting the occasional comment when I see something worth discussing.
And I must say, of all the times I could have fallen behind, this was probably one of the best. Getting to witness all of Erin’s intervention in one sitting was an absolute joy.
@Lunas
Welcome to the comments! I too ship Falstinua, not really that much since as Evil Tree says Red probably wouldn’t add in any unnecessary romantic subplots. They do give off a slight Zutara vibe
Steve, Lord of Darkness:
I was wondering where you had gone! As I told Humanoid Clay a little while back, you don’t have to push yourself if you aren’t motivated or if you plain don’t want to. (I did like the running gags while they lasted, though; my favorite is the crokinole one.)
Speaking of Humanoid Clay:
It’s D. Erin is so pasty that that’s his first descriptor that popped into Tess’s mind. “Sh*t, he’s almost as shiny as I am!”
@Evil Tree
I think that Alinua is just guilty about her part in committing crimes and so she’s looking away to avoid eye contact with Erin. Also, now would be the perfect time to have a scene change to the prison and then Red will just have us assume that Tess fills Erin in offscreen since we all know about Tynan already and rehashing that isn’t going to push the plot forward any. When we cut back to Erin and Tess we might have some new information come out of their discussion, but I think we’re going to get a scene transition first thing next week.
Tess, you’re probably the only one who can sense that. It’s not like anyone else in the party can use Lightning magic. Right, Erin? Totally unreasonable.
My money says that the collector is the one who started the Ferin. She’s old enough for the job, and has a uniquely powerful gift with altering Life. Also, the Chimeric plague is evidently Life’s shot at trying to create a vessel, but I’m not sure why it worked with Ali and no one else.
Another interesting theory of mine, would be that soul energy itself, is the energy of the white dragon, as it binds stuff together, and cannot be manipulated by any other magic. Red always draws the souls as a shining white with extra funky little accents (I love Vash’s swirly bits), and that matches everything we’ve seen that looks like the white dragons influence. Furthermore, as evidenced by the cave corruption and the effect of void magic, the black dragon’s thing is withering and consumption, while the white dragon’s thing could be the energy of existing. That would help to explain where the gods and spirits get their power from. All this crazy energy getting thrown around is usually magic, but the divine attacks that we’ve seen so far don’t appear to be elemental, they are sourced by the souls of the deities themselves, which would be soul energy.
When they’ve fully possessed Erin, the black dragon mentions his ‘other’, catching Erin’s attention, before he quickly continues his monologue. The black dragon says that his Other awoke the mortal’s wills, making them much harder to use as tools. I also think that adamant might have a connection to the white dragon, but I cannot say for sure, as the stars the black dragon was eating have a connection with the white dragon, and adamant is strictly the one thing black dragon can’t eat, break, or destroy.
I think it only worked with Ali b/c she’s the only one who actually had Life’s Great Rune? With Iras, we can see it looks different. That’s my theory anyway.
Everyone thinking Red’s characters (even the villains) are cute is kind of comforting. Maybe drawing cute villains isn’t a bad thing. I could try less to make them hideous while still doing anime eyes because it seems that’s where I’m at artistically.
I just realized how many meme worthy moments are in this comic… I wonder if red makes those on purpose
I wonder if you are smarter than you look?
Erin is not mad. Just disappointed. Well, alright, he is a little mad. And maybe frustrated, rather than disappointed. And maybe a tad tired. But mostly he is mad. Yeah.
Finally Tess gets to tell everyone what’s going on
Also I love how grumpy Falst looks in the third panel xD
speak in lowercase
that indicates whispering
just be quiet please
I did me best, kid
love.
ari
Maybe I should start making memes out of aurora panels
Their facial expressions are perfect.
Falst in every single panel is such a big mood
Finally someone is notcing that freaking storm that is about to happen.
Red’s note here reminds me of Hellsing Abridged’s Alucard:
“Excuse you, but I’m a f*ckmothering VAMPIRE. I’ve killed a LOT of people to earn that title, and I deserved to be called such.”
This page’s image source is: right.
Every time Falst is in frame he further solidifies himself into he top spot in my character tier list. Let him rest
At Last, Tess gets to talk about Plot! …Right?
Aww woozy Falst looks so cute and grumpy.
And Erin did you really not expect this to happen?
And I just realized how regretfully innocent/guilty Alinua looks in these panels
The storm is coming but who crosses whose path is unclear. I wait for the sky to open and see were it will fall. Good foreshadowing!
Falst in panel 8 is such mood and I absolutely love it
Talking about the weather? Really? You’ll be asking whether he’s read any good book next.
I’m in agreement with everyone else; panel 3 is amazing. Erin and Falst, both looking 110% done with today while Alinua and Tess try to appear friendly and smile, though I feel only one smile is genuine.

Awww sleepy headachy Falst is kinda adorable
Foreshadowing!!!
hmmmmmmmm
so wen will kendl kendl in
“Ahh… home again, home again. Now… WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU IDIOTS THINKING!?”
TL;DR: Oh no he’s mad that you broke laws in a city whose god is all about strict laws… Was that really a good idea? Also, lightning lady, what is so wrong with the weather? It’s fine.

This place is gonna blow up Im calling it now. Whole town, kablow.

Hello, ’tis I, the dumb cliff hangerguy.
I’ve been absent for a while, mostly due to exams making my schedule difficult to manage and thus lacking time to keep up with this comic. @ Steve, Lord of Darkness
I always enjoyed your cliff hangers, but make sure to take time to regain inspiration!
@ Humanoid Clay
Okay, but Tess and her dialogue definitely looks like it could be photoshopped in front of one of those conspiracy string boards.
@Lunas
Welcome to the comments! I too ship Falstinua, not really that much since as Evil Tree says Red probably wouldn’t add in any unnecessary romantic subplots. They do give off a slight Zutara vibe

yesssss plot advancement! tell them about the storm tess! I doubt the crew will think it’s important but it’s always good to know your enemy
@Humanoid Clay I bet it’s D, pale. just finished my finals too, living it up, taking naps!
@TheUnknownGame same.
And I’m with pretty much everyone here – the third panel is gorgeous.
@Evil Tree

Erin is pretty much an annoyed lawyer at this point and I‘m here for it.
@Humanoid Clay It looks like it’s D!
Ah, Falst, my mood-kindred.

@Humanoid clay, A
I was looking at my AdBlock and it says it’s blocking 2 trackers. Are there trackers being utilised on here?
lol their FACES in the third panel i CANNOT
that 3rd panel is just another instance of an artist struggling to draw hands
