Oh my oh my, it would seem that Tess has gotten herself into a pretty bad position, just in time for the party to get caught up in it and get that sweet sweet character development, oh and get a new party member, that’s always nice.
Btw, I’ve got a question. How did some of y’all find this comic? Some of you have mentioned that you didn’t know it was by red. I found it through her channel.
I was aware of the comic for a while because I had a friend who was into it! Then I found Red’s mythology videos separately and watched some of them, and didn’t realize that that was the same person who made Aurora until (I think) one of the videos mentioned Aurora being hers.
(Also comments sometimes take a bit to show up, don’t sweat it!)
@Indigo Toxin
I don’t remember lol. I know I’ve been here since October 16 (because of the first page of chapter 10 with the big Falst panel). I was already a fan of the channel and knew Red was the one making Aurora, but how I found it is a mistery. Maybe it was through the Wiki page?
However I found it, Aurora is the reason I started reading webcomics and oh boy, is this the best rabbit hole I’ve been in a while. So thanks, Red!
I found it by accident. I was at another site reading another comic (Twogag/Trying Human, I don’t remember) when there’s this really cool looking comic link. I pressed somewhere else on the screen and I was at Aurora. Two months of thinking I’ve seen this art style before pops in a new osp video. When I did a Google search on Red I found she makes the comic
Where have we seen that effect before? A couple of comments mention a magic flower Alinua made to put Erin to sleep, but I don’t remember that. What chapter was that in?
TL;DR: Shrike used constrict!
It doesn’t affect Tess…
Shrike used creepy magic smoke balls!
The opposing Tess’s special attack severely fell!
The opposing Tess fled!
It was only a matter of time before I did this. Blep
Is it rude to ask how much Tess weighs? How much does Tess weigh? Does Shrike have her on the ropes? Will Shrike and her hunters be able to carry Tess back to the mountain if she’s unconscious? Is this the true power of Temptations cat treats?
I found it by, and I swear I’m not making this up, a 2019 OSP Year in Review thing, where they talked about what stuff they did that year, and Red mentioned this comic. I cannot find it anywhere, though, so I don’t know what happened, but I know that I watched it.
Oh no! The purple ball makes anti-magic gas. So Tess being metal-caste means she really heavy but magic makes her lighter. And she can’t electric big jump. Oh, dear. Run Tess, run.
(Grammarly wants to correct my cant to can instead of can’t. Stay optimistic Grammarly.)
@indigo toxin:
Red mentioned it in her and blue’s end or the year video in 2019, so I used it to keep me sane during the pandemonium that followed. I think that would have been about chapter four? Two pages before the giant tree was grown by Aluina, that I know.
(And they thought 2019 was bad)
Huh, so that means metal caste use magic to animate their bodies. That’s a pretty cool system. I wonder if there’s a disease or birth defect of some kind which makes that magic fail?
Theory Cat:
Ah, didn’t notice your comment at first! I believe it was the first page of chapter 5 that had just been released.
Vocabulary Man and Dark Wolf:
Metal-caste folk can move just as easily as other people; Shrike’s “slow and heavy” comment refers to Tess having lost her lightning magic due to the sealing cuff and being slightly affected by the sleeping pollen. Metal-caste folk don’t need magic just to move (in fact, most of them aren’t mages, Tess is an exception).
RE: Where I found the comic. First heard about it on OSP, but when I tried to check it out the site was having trouble and I gave up on it. Forgot about it for a while until I stumbled onto it again on TV Tropes. It was the page image for something; can’t remember what trope, though.
I came after binge-watching the Miscellaneous Myths section of OSP. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this comic; waiting for updates is tough! (Not as tough as waiting for Journey to the West updates, fortunately.) The characters and action and lore woven into everything are amazing!
Random detail, I love how polite people are in this comic sometimes. Shrike’s team is trying to take Tess prisoner, and Tess takes a moment to compliment their work and say, “Nice meeting you!” before running. It’s a fun bit of characterization, and I love it!
I found Aurora through TVTropes, I think a few months before the site crashed. I don’t know exactly when because I started commenting a while after I started reading.
I feel like Tess is too nice to electrify Shrike through the chain. I mean the chain might have been anti-zappable but all she really wants to do is warn people about the really strange cloud and keep people safe. When Falst was fighting the dragon she comes to help him even though it wasn’t her fight. And when the wind first stops in Windcrest, you can see her in one of the frames in the village. Later she fights the other dragon in the wasteland meaning that she came straight from Windcrest to the wasteland as soon as the wind stopped. And she really politely asks Falst and Alinua about Erin when she hears them talking and (frustratingly briefly) explains what’s going on. I’m just saying, even if she could zap Shrike, I don’t think she would. She just wants to help people and if there’s a choice between violence and peace, Tess seems to choose peace every time.
Oh my oh my, it would seem that Tess has gotten herself into a pretty bad position, just in time for the party to get caught up in it and get that sweet sweet character development, oh and get a new party member, that’s always nice.
The chain has been snapped!
A sleeping pellet: deployed!
The chase continues!
I love the smell of warcrimes in the morning.
Let me guess, Alinua’s narcotic flower? That stuff that’s capable of putting down an eldritch dragon?
Chain: Snapped.
Chloroform: Deployed.
Chase: Continues.

a random person suggested in in the comments of another webcomic (castoff)
for some reason my comments arent appearing.

I CAN STIIIIILL HEAR YOU SAYING YOU WOULD NEVER BREAK THE CHAI–
wait, Tess never said that, never mind
also I love Tess saying “nice meeting you!”, what a good egg
@Indigo Toxin

I just noticed that Tess is barefoot… huh. Guess you don’t need shoes when you’re made of metal lol
I found it on a comment on one of OSP’s videos.

Indigo Toxin, I found it on her channel after she mentioned it.
I found it by looking for wallpapers. I remember reading chapter 2.
When was that?
???

I found it on the OSP twitter.
Indigo Toxin: I found this comic by falling down the internet rabbit hole. I knew who the author was when I started.

Tune in This Week to Find Out!

Ah, I knew it! It is the same pollen Alinua used in chapter 7.
PersonMcPerson:
Same here. We’ve both been reading this story for almost 2 years now.

Wear masks, everyone! It helps you not get attacked with sleeping pollen!
@indigo toxin
Red mentioned it in one of the early episodes of the OSPodcast
I discovered the comic through the OSP tv tropes page
To, Indigo Toxin.
I found it through OSP. Great content, great comic.
Shrike and her two sidekicks are really just unfazed by Tess straight-up breaking that chain with her bare hands, huh
This is what happens when use a metal chain against someone that is literally made of metal.
Street chase in the market district, where Falst and Alinua are buying their melon. Y’just know that things are gonna get spicy here.

Shrike: *disables Tess’s magic and exploded a sleep potion in her face*
Tess: “nice meeting you! *runs away*
Shrike: …

the rouge but is inhumanly powerful
Is it just me, or did Tess manage to cover her face while moving through the effect?
That’s exactly how i expected it to happen, i love Tess’s expression as she’s leaving.

I officially wish I were a metal caste.
@Dark Wolf agreed. The world needs more people like Tess.
ah shit wait I was wrong about tess electrocuting her.
@tony lonelytuatara we should just always use Fleetwood Mac for Tess now?
Alt text: it’s rude to comment on a lady’s debuffs
oh no evil elsa is coming tess run
(“evil elsa” and “haniyyah to mushrooms” are the only thoughts that come into my mind when I see tess’s braid)
*shrike’s braid
(how did I make that mistake)
