Ok but as someone who likes fictional businesses, a shopping montage would be amazing, just to see what shops there are in the city.

I mean, this is Red we’re talking about here. I’m sure she has lots of worldbuilding behind the scenes.
Red’s been pretty clear that she limits worldbuilding to what’s likely to be plot-relevant. One can overwhelm oneself pretty fast with unnecessary details that are just plain fun to worldbuild out, if you have the bug.
Red seems to understand very well that the most practical way to worldbuild is to make more of a skeleton or a film set than to make an entire location, in which most things will never be seen on camera. It’s why she hasn’t built a genuine conlang, but instead just dribbles in made-up words as necessary.

5) Kendal hears about someone in jail and breaks in to break them out. 0% stealth, maximum crash. The rest of the floof squad give mad sass for Kendal being the one to break all his own rules.
Formats like that are illegal
Zuurith and Kendal (or, well, Vash) don’t like each other. But they also have a common enemy in the form of the Collector. Does Zuurith know what’s become of Vash? Does Zuurith know that Kendal is trying to do something about it? If so, maybe things won’t go as badly as we’re fearing.
Given that Gleicaan was aware I think it’s safe to say that most if not all gods, friend or not, are aware of the basics at least. Whether this means Zuurith will have any interaction or special circumstance for Kendal is another matter. Personally I doubt he’d be able to make exceptions to his rules, but maybe just banish the group instead of imprisoning them? We’ll see how things turn out, but I doubt it will be to the groups benefit.

Man, Kendal has a really good understanding of society despite being less than a month old.
He used to be the literal incarnation of Vash Society. He probably understands the wider systems of power better than anyone.
He just gets stuck when trying to understand the individual cogs 😛

Tbh what I got out of this was that Kendal is trying to boost Falst’s confidence in himself regardless of being a Ferin (which is freaking adorable), and this is a (supposedly) safe scenario to begin in. Alinua is coming probably in case stuff goes south or Erin accidentally unleashes the Void Dragon, but it does seem a little sus that Kendal is the only one not going (but it makes sense & was a smart decision)
I will say that its pretty risky if stuff goes down, since Erin’s magical privilege is the only normal thing in this group.
Unfortunately that normal thing is balanced by his choice to walk right into a nest of cultists we already know are probably out to kill him and may have abilities to sense the void dragon. I hope Falst gets to do something he wants before the other shoe drops though, and maybe Kendal can come up with ways to deal with boredom that keep him out of trouble?
Next on Aurora: Kendal doesn’t stay in the room! Stay tuned for the wacky hijinks that will ensue!

at this point we’re all just buzzing in our seats and waiting for everything to go wrong, and honestly… how could it not considering literally everything?

I almost want nothing to go wrong and just see Erin and co. have an adorable time looking at records while we stew waiting for something, anything to go wrong. And nothing does.
but that won’t happen.
honestly, knowing red, she might have nothing happen, just to put us off our guard so we are all surprised when something goes wrong next time. the question is will she subvert out expectations, or subvert out expectation that she will subvert our expectations?
Do you think Kendal wants everyone out of the room so he can try sleeping and contacting Vash again? It feels like something he would do.
Maybe? I think that while it might not be his motivator, he might take the opportunity to try to sleep again. (and then be interrupted by … probably Tynan or Erin getting in trouble)
Or Zuurith dropping in to yell “GET OFF MY LAND!”
Maybe not to yell that, but I do see Zurith poping in to have words with Kendal. For those who know/knew Vash, he is kind of recognizable. Plus, sword.
Geez, Erin nearly has as many capes as Lord Hades himself.

and remember, 90% of his life experience comes from Vash, god of protagonistic overconfidence.
Kendal: Ok fine, I’ll act like a human. Look at me. Boy, do I love sweating. Let’s convert beef and leaves into energy and excrete them later and go shopping.
I’ve been going over cover stories the gang could use to explain their group and they fit exactly with these, Falst as the elemental magus’s bodyguard and Alinua as a trainee mage. I see Kendal also using the bodyguard cover story if it’s ever needed.
Why do I not trust Kendal in that last panel. Sure, he doesn’t do low profile, but he also doesn’t do sitting around doing nothing. Something tells me he’s going to try more god conversations, Zuurith is the obvious choice but maybe he might try someone else.
I wonder if Zuurith can even go inside that room, sure it’s his city but there are bound to be rules about entering another city god’s embassy. Given how law obsessed he is I’m not certain he would incarnate inside, maybe incarnate outside and request Kendal to see him, if he wants to talk to him at all.
Next week’s prediction: Falst finding his new cape uncomfortable.
Alternately, Zurrith also respects the law of not barging into other people’s hotel rooms without permission or being a maid. Either way, we are assuming he’s not a hypocrite. If he is a hypocrite, the gang’s doomed.

On that topic, I always wonder how bags like that are organized. How do you keep the fancy capes separated from the bedding, and both separated from the books, and all three separated from the hygiene products everyone travels with so you don’t end up loosing anything, or spilling shampoo on your best cape or something? The only two magic bags I’ve seen that bothered to answer that question were one in a video game that I organized myself, and Mary Poppins’ carpet bag where she did loose stuff. How does Erin keep that thing organized?
It might work on the Heward’s Handy Haversack pricipal of you reach in and the thing you want is magically on top, or the more general principal of reaching in and focusing on (thing) untill (thing) appears in your hand.
That or he just has it impeccably organized. “the library is down the ladder to the right, the walk in closet is to the left, and you will find the warehouse strait ahead.”

I feel like Kendal, being the incorruptible pure paragon himself, is not going to last five minutes in Zuurith without finding some principled stand to get himself arrested for.

On the other hand, he is opting to sit around in a hotel room rather than risk the temptation of causing a mess for the group that way. Then again, this seems to be a pre TV society and I’m not seeing much reading material (assuming he can read) and we haven’t seen how he deals with boredom.

ok, everyone here is talking about how Kendal is probs gonna try to talk to Vash or Zurith, but I think y’all are forgetting the potential for Caliban, the one God we know for a fact is going to get involved in some form and who has a connection to someone in the prison and a vested interest in getting them out and knows that Kendal is there.
During Vash’s talk with the collector he mentions that there are plenty of people other than him who aren’t a fan of Zuurith (the god), but considering Zuurith’s outlook on this situation he probably doesn’t want to impede Kendal too much.
But Zuurith has already been established as someone who cares a lot about people following his rules, he’s probably going to be chill about this unless Kendal breaks any rules (Gleican was kinda the same, though much more lax). So long as he doesn’t cause any trouble or do any big no no then I think he’ll be fine.
That being said, considering Caliban… yeah he’s definitely going to have some kind of prison break. I still don’t know if Caliban will actually do anything like contact Kendal though, there is definitely the possibility though, because based on what we’ve seen Caliban don’t like sitting still on stuff like this.
In other news…. who’s everyone’s favourite character so far?

Honestly, Kendal’s my favorite so far. He’s soft, awkward, kind, and friendly, except towards people who are dicks to others. He seems like he’d be a great friend, and I can relate with him on some fronts. Erin’s a close second, though; even if his arrogance is annoying, he seems like he’d be a fun person to talk with about science and other nerdy shit.
50/50 split between Kendal and Alinua I just love their friendship dynamic, its interesting to see more takes on what an “adult vessel who was born last month” would act and think like, and Alinua is really trying her best to deal with how crazy her life suddenly got bless her

seriously, though, I think he’s going to go have a vision nap, the contents of which will determine his chances of getting into trouble.
I’m reading Stormlight Archive right now, and this comic has become my safe place.
I would like to take this moment to congratulate Kendal on his responsibility, wisdom, and self awareness. Zurrith is going to suck for everyone, but this is probably the closest Falst is going to get to actually getting to be out in the open without retribution. Erin is going into a potentially dangerous high stress situation with wide-eyed overconfidence and a semi-closed mind, and he specifically joined the group in the first place because he trusts Alinua to help him stay out of trouble. Finally, in every situation we’ve seen him in Kendal has proved incapable of keeping a low profile, and he and Zurrith already have an established history of conflict. Plus, I love how quick Erin is to sell the “foreign ambassador’s guard” cover. Let’s just hope this plan works.
I mean, Falst does have that “I take no shit” bouncer/security vibe, at least on the outside. Honestly, I’m mostly worried that Erin is immediately going to have his cover blown wide open by literal divine intervention. *Erin steps into temple* “Hello my paladins, you know that guy I told you about, the one containing the ultimate evil? Well that’s him. Yes, that very pompous guy over there.”

I’m glad to see Kendall is self aware enough to avoid more problems, but unfortunately I don’t think the problems are going to avoid him.
I absolutely love how Kendal is a strong paragon hero who’s kind, intelligent and humble.
