The closest thing Kendal has done to sleeping is losing consciousness. He’s done it three times: once at the end of Chapter 1 when he passed out from blood loss, again near the end of Chapter 3 when Alinua destroyed the Sentinel, and a third time in Chapter 5 when he was blasted by the Void Dragon’s magic.
Well, oops. There could be a couple of explanations for Kendal’s situation. The simplest being that he hasn’t been taking care of himself and just really needs a good o’l nap and some healing. Another although less likely explanation could be that Kendal is still tied to vash or the city and something either happened to them, or he moved to far away from them. There could also be some other antagonist influencing him.
Well Kendal, that’s what you get for brooding all night instead of sleeping.
I wonder what really has brought this on. The soul inhabiting his body not as well integrated as it seems? Vash sending him a message? A form of fatigue owing to this body not being made for long term use?
I see Falst has taken very nicely to the role of “the sarcastic one”, helps to balance Mr. Expositon. Open skies and few people doesn’t mesh well with a previously forrest dwelling Ferin eager for companionship, but I could other Ferin liking it.
He looks and act bored, but I’m not sure he’s fully sarcastic, open skies sounds great to a lion ferin, I’d imagine, and considering he’s been trying to stay away from people, nobody around might still sound quite nice.
His lion ferin nature would make him ideal for the environment but remember that Falst stole the lacrima to try and make himself human specifically so he wouldn’t be alone. Assuming that hasn’t changed he’ll still want to have people nearby where he settles.
Yeah, but floof squad has accepted him, and I don’t think he wants to deal with petty mortals unless they are willing to accept him as well, so I bet he is glad for some alone time with the floof squad.
Is it possible that Kendal’s collapse is to do with Tynan? I can’t figure out exactly how but it seems more likely than exhaustion to me. Kendal has never really slept in now more than nine days, I feel like it would have affected him earlier if it was gonna be an issue. Also the cover for this chapter seems like it’s looking at Kendal’s (and Alinua’s) semi-divine status based on the art and Tynan would definitely fit into that. It’s just a theory though
Tynan killing (?) that other god could have created some sort of divine ripple to warn the others or shifted the status quo enough for them to feel it. Or it could have something to do with him being Vash’s enemy. Or one of the other gods could be summoning Kendall’s consciousnesses for a meeting or something.
While it makes sense for the other characters to possibly assume he collapsed from exhaustion, I’d be surprised if it was actually that simple, for the same reason you stated. I think that would have caught up with him sooner if it was going to be a problem.
It could honestly be a little of both. People can have multiple wants that may conflict with each other, or be complicated by circumstances. Falst does want companionship. He also wants to be safe. Ideally he wants both of those things, but he’s clearly been hurt enough that he doesn’t really think that’s possible; in his experience, being around people means being rejected, perhaps violently – or, just as bad, treated as a specimen by assholes like Jolon. The companionship of the protagonist party is clearly welcome, but it’s not his typical experience and he also clearly expects it to be temporary. So, since he doesn’t think companionship is something he’s ever going to actually get to have in the long term, he’s focusing on what he sees as the more realistic goal: safety.
My gut is telling me that Kendal collapsed because of a certain storm god, but I hoping its because of something stupid he’s done, like forget to eat or drink 😛
The first page of a chapter does seem a little early for a major plot event, but that’s just my inner writer talking.
I’m worried that something not fun is happening to Vash right now. I think he has probably got at least some sleep recently we’ve only seen him have two sleepless nights. although I do like the idea of Alinua running through the basic needs of survival and Kendal just going “Wait what do you mean I need to drink water?”
Not too bad, just chillin’ in lockdown Britain: Part 3. The third instalment in an already sub-par series.
Still, been getting a lot of birds in and around where I live, long-tails and nuthatches on the feeders and a buzzard likes to frequent the field next door.
But seriously I think the prime ministerial mop cancelled my a-levels (which, for any non-brits, are the exams the first 18 years of my life and education have been leading up to) in the vaguest possible way just so that no-one has any clue what is going on. I genuinely don’t care if they’re cancelled or not, I just want to know which and how I’m going to get a grade so I can get on with my work.
I get that we have never seen Kendal sleep, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t. Plus, as some other people have said, there is a particular storm god back in town and Kendal could somehow be reacting to that. But I agree that it is probably sleep deprivation
sleep my dude
Wanna bet he meets both Emnis and Erebas?
Falst EEEEEEEE
lol he sounds really bored haha
KENDAL NO DID SLEEP FINALLY REACH YOU
KENDALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Kendal, when was the last time you slept? Two weeks? Three?
Has Kendal ever slept in his life?
I think he hasn’t slept since he was “born”.
guys I don’t think Kenny even NEEDS sleep

Him clenching his head there… I’m gonna take a gamble and say it’s because he’s getting farther and farther from Vash.

Like lightning flood the wonder evil. Maybe Vash can sense the deal being broken and then Kendal gets to feel that as well.
Falst is too much like me on almost all school trips, it’s unsettling

Falst looks shook that the dude that thrashed him in their fight just collapsed
“Dude, you effortlessly broke my wrist last night, but now you just tip over??”

Thump.
TL;DR: Sword guy doesn’t feel so good, the kitty vet’s caught up on Mr. Hubris’ goal.
TLDR IS BACK! YAY!
???
*gets. I don’t think the cat’s a vet.
Uh oh… getting too far from Vash? or can you tell shit’s getting bad back home???

Oh no, he’s been struck by impending plot disease!
I love how the general consensus is “oh good, Kendal is finally taking a nap,” after Kendal just falls over mid sentence.
My gut is telling me that Kendal collapsed because of a certain storm god, but I hoping its because of something stupid he’s done, like forget to eat or drink 😛

Kendal Fucking Dies.png
The Silent Lands, huh? Sure hope it’s not infested with giant plague-monsters and malevolent ghosts…
Aww, he’s all tuckered out.
Hey Mum Club, how we doing?
Not too bad, just chillin’ in lockdown Britain: Part 3. The third instalment in an already sub-par series.
Still, been getting a lot of birds in and around where I live, long-tails and nuthatches on the feeders and a buzzard likes to frequent the field next door.
Oh yeah, THIRD LOCKDOWN HYPE, amirite?
But seriously I think the prime ministerial mop cancelled my a-levels (which, for any non-brits, are the exams the first 18 years of my life and education have been leading up to) in the vaguest possible way just so that no-one has any clue what is going on. So… yeah. That’s how I’m doing.
Can I join, please?
Of course; so long as you use the term ‘Mum’ instead of ‘Mom’, anyone is welcome.
So can I join the mum club?
Of course; so long as you use the term ‘Mum’ instead of ‘Mom’, anyone is welcome.
Since we have the traditional meeting of mum club for those that say mum. I’m wondering, does anyone else use mama?
Kendal, stop being overly dramatic. Your floof already does that for you.
Yeah, Kendal. But seriously, what’s WRONG WITH HIM!!!!! I’m getting worried!
See this is what happens when you DON’T SLEEP
I get that we have never seen Kendal sleep, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t. Plus, as some other people have said, there is a particular storm god back in town and Kendal could somehow be reacting to that. But I agree that it is probably sleep deprivation
I too hope that this is a symptom of not knowing how to mortal.
Question: does Falst have fur
“HAVE YOU DRANK WATER TODAY?”
Honestly? MOOD
Somehow, I just knew Falst would be the kind of guy to do the elbows up pose while traveling. Good to see I was right.
i think tynan did something to vash’s city
You not know? The city of Vash is buried and destroyed.
Tynan could still send a raincloud over the remains to run salt in the wound.
Kendal:*hasn’t slept a day in his life
college students:weakness disgusts me
pretty sure rain is fresh water
TL;DR: Nerd floof rants about another continent, Cursed floof is a fan. Corpse floof trips.
This is what happens when you dont sleep.
Imagine not sleeping! couldn’t be me!

so is that a “no” or
maybe he finally realized he actually does need to sleep
Calling it now, Falst is gonna hate the cold of Helm. And it’s going to be adorable and hilarious because he won’t shut up about it
I thought Panel 3 was Falst in a hooded cloak and I got really excited because of his poofy hair. But alas: Tis just arms
