Okay, so I’m evil and all, but I can’t have this magic eating snake in my practice. I’m a doctor, I need to heal people. It’s not like I’m EVIL or something!
OBVIOUSLY the snake and the dedication to providing medical aid (even if, you know, he’s the reason people need medical aid in the first place) both mean that everything is forgiven!

That’s one of the things I like about Jolon, is that he took the Supervillain Pledge or whatever it’s called.

OK, so it looks like there is a snake, wolf, goat, and a bear? that Jolon has brought with him. Also spelleaters would be amazing in fortresses or wherever that wants to keep mages/magic out
Im thinking REALLY hard about this but I can’t figure out Jolon’s motivations.
Some people said that he’s hiding up at Hilltop to perform his experiments in secret, and if thats correct, why does he wanna do those experiments? Maybe he wants to become famous and get well known for these experiments? I can see how an amplified spelleater could make him well known, it can be good for people that want to drain a mages magic, like for example a magic proof vault or something.
Or maybe he’s doing it for the sake of doing it? But that doesn’t make any sense, Jolon is planning and being smart about stuff, like in panel 1 where its obvious he planned what would happen.
He COULD also be working with the Collector like some other people said. The Collector wants to learn stuff right? She kidnapped a god just to see what would happen. Maybe she wants to know what happens to animals that get enhanced by a lacrima? What better way to do that then enscripting an academy trained mage that might want to know what could happen to amplified animals or creatures?
i dont know, my brain hurts. It seems a bit more likely at the moment hes doing it to be famous
I think it would be reasonable to say that Jolon wants to get easy business. I mean, it’s a semi-reasonable (and by the I mean logical but unforgivable) motivation.

Sneaky. Luckily he has no clue that Vash isn’t exactly human.
On the other hand, fending off umpteen monstrosities while making sure your 2 now-useless mage friends might prove difficult even for a the physical form of a god.
Should prove a humbling moment for Erin. His character growth from being so suddenly so utterly useless might well be interesting to behold. Alinua might end up overriding the magic snek with sheer primordial hax though. That one’s a wildcard.
I wonder what Jolon’s motive is.
I wonder if Alinua can drain away the life magic from the Chimeras. I think that it’s either not ordinary magic or it’s just incredibly powerful magic. There is also the chance she will pull an Eff and change the chimeras magic so the spelleater can drain it away.

I wonder if Alinua with the lachryma can output life magic faster than the spelleater can handle.
Jilin said the spell eater consumes ambient magic channeled magic might be different. if so I reckon that Alinua will be able to do plenty of damage before it runs out.

I’m just going to assume Alinua has the biggest death glare directed towards Jolon.
Interesting creature that spelleater, and I’m curious at to where this could go. If the lacrima does break will it absorb all the life energy and turn into an enormous f**k you dragon? If they capture Jolon rather than kill could they use it to keep his magic at bay if they don’t have soulcrystal? Are the hand sized ones actually good pets and Red is only calling this one evil?
So Erin is out of the fight, Alinua most likely too (though not guaranteed), so that leaves a sword-less Kendal and Falst to save the day (assuming Lion-boi stays and helps and doesn’t run while he has the chance).
On the danger noodle, I think it would require purposeful application of mutagenic magic to make it grow, as it seems to consume ambient power without any immediate effect.
I find it kinda funny that red has to constantly remind us that certain creatures are evil, or we’ll inevitably adopt them and feel sympathy for them. Kinda shows what this community exist out of.
I just realized that in this party we have someone possessed by a god, a ‘probable’ incarnation of a god, a body of a god, and of course an angry lion boi. I wonder how this totally balanced party will fight the evil nerd and his pets this time.
I think Falst and Kendal are gonna go ham with bare-knuckle brawling, helped by their strength and by Falst’s claws
I think that someone just needs to break the magic danger noodle somehow then the fight will end quickly with much mmagic

Well now that’s stuck in my head all day…
Magic-sucking death noodle is not only cute, but has color-coded spikes on their back. Possibly colored according to the ambient magic they’re sucking up. Might turn not-so-cute is Dark Floof the VD jumps in with void magic, just saying.
I don’t think Dark Floof will actually appear, though, because Erin needs to start feeling super useless right about now instead of heading down the “Hey maybe being a mage of darkness and death isn’t so bad” path.
Ah would you look at that Jolon has moved to “Antagonists”

I have realised something bad. In Red’s trope talk on rule of there we see Falst but he is still a Ferin. Meaning the lacrima either won’t work or will be destroyed. Poor Falst, all he wanted was to be human and now he won’t be. Also I can’t be the only one thinking at how amazing the snake thing looks.
Trope talks aren’t canon, and the appearances of characters from this comic within them is not necessarily indicative of future events within the comic.
Well, Erin said that curing the Ferin mutation isn’t really possible, so I didn’t think that he would ever be cured. Also, the cover shows a broken Life Lacrima. Maybe someone will drop it.

You know what I bet? I bet that Shirii’s diet excludes one type of magic. And I bet that a. Certain dragon would be very displeased if his elemental magus got damaged or killed, and would be in afraid to take over if such a thing became a serious possibility.
I also bet that the local god who is most definitely keeping an eye on things would not be pleased if Kendal were to die in his forest.

Erin’s had both the shittiest and weirdest week ever and it’s fantastic-
He’s been possessed, robbed, flashbanged, and now rendered completely useless. As much as I want him to catch a break, it’s way more fun to watch him die inside lol
I just realized how much he’s a narrative punching bag…
I kind of feel sorry for him, but at the same time, I absolutely don’t feel sorry for him due to his Pompous Nitwit-ness (and, you know, him trying to straight up murder Falst definitely did NOT help)

Magic nullifying snake / reptile reminds me of Ysalamiri from Thrawn Trilogy.
Also Jolon with the snake looks really similar to how Thrawn is often shown with Ysalamir.
