It’s interesting how detached she is, how apathetic. She sees her chimeras as mere tools, and gets them to attack the populace. I wonder what I shall find out when I turn the page?
Absolutely! SPOILERS It’s especially interesting when we see how her reaction contrasts with that of Life/Alinua, who is horrified with the doctor messing with the creatures and seems to despise the senseless murder or exploitation of creatures. And yet, the collector claims to be doing all of these things in order to save Life. Our very first interaction with the collector shows us that she is completely apathetic, never seems to be out of her element, willing to do whatever she feels is necessary, and completely lacking empathy or emotion towards the things that get in her way or what she must sacrifice. It’s an incredibly compelling introduction for a villain, and in some ways, she terrifies me far more than the Void Dragon because she doesn’t seem to get frustrated, she has a perfect plan, and she knows exactly how to get what she wants. Those are all incredibly powerful and intimidating traits, and she can’t be manipulated in the way Erin can occasionally confuse or manipulate VD. I’d be incredibly interested to see if she has a third act breakdown in a similar way to Azula from ATLA.
TL;DR: the collector is terrifying because of her apathy and unflappability, combined with the fact that she really thinks she’s doing what’s right, Red made an amazing villain character with her
. Soon Vash stands alone, the beasts fallen dead around him. His sword is stuck in a final one, blue light rising like steam from where the monster had bitten him.
. He hears clapping and turns. A woman stands a little ways away from him, with long black hair and pale skin, dressed in a brown-and-black dress with a golden sash around her waist. Her eyes are green, bright green irises with lighter green scleras like a film of algae. “Oh, don’t let me interrupt,” she says. “You looked like you were having fun.” She rests her hand on the single large, goat-like creature beside her.
. “…So I take it these chimera belong to you?” Vash asks.
. “Yes, but don’t worry — I don’t hold a grudge,” the woman answers, smiling. “I can always make more.”
The villain strikes up conversation with the hero. Not like taking Vash’s soul requires him to be distracted or anything… Oh well, his tears will be sweet anyway.
THE RACCOON SLAYER: man, shit got rocked, who knew being pretty and badass was so tiring?
Random Forest witch: bravo you fucking narcissistic cringe lord, you killed some demons from hell. Now continue your cringe monologue!
TRS: do the demons belong to you? Cause I’ll be the hero a change my name to the witch slayer if you don’t step down!
Forest witch: Ï FƏÆŘ ŇØ ĢŒĐ!!
TRS: dude, cool your shit! I’m meant to be the intimidating one!

TL;DR: Pest control complete. The pompous mutant rat breeder ruining the convention makes her surprisingly calm appearance.
