Okay, Calian is looking SO evil on this page. Dainixs face on panel 3 is like “oh, shit!” and that’s fair becouse it’s the first time someone could actualy destroy his demoncore and that would most likely kill him.
Now about the underwater rescue party. Niether them, Erin or even Dainix know about the vulcano erupting so they’re maybe going to be the ones who need rescuing. The only person on the island who could realisticaly warn them is Tess.
I don’t think Calian can harm his core. Red said that demonheart is second only to adamant in terms of hardness.

Bad guy victory rule #1: never gloat. That said… wow, that was close. I didn’t realize getting dragon-stomped could get Dainix down to, largely, just his rock core. That said, the Paladins could end up learning a major weakness here.
(I’m a fan of Deus ex Alinua, since it translates to ‘God from the Alinua’ rather than ‘Alinua from the Machine’)
