Lacrima script: BURST
Good eyes! Thanks @Mat, as always for your help!
oh they *are* exploding him
Such gorgeous artwork withe the light effects!
Pretty sure I got most of my Sunday game group reading with the the pages I’ve shared.
Oh clever, he used his failed, collapsing bubble spell for the other lacrima.
Last time Dainix was blown apart like that it didn’t end well for the other guy. Let’s see if Falst has more luck.
You’re so right! Nice thinking Flast.
Damn Falst is good with those wind lacrimas
Atta boy Falst! Way to think outside the box!
Now THAT’S a dramatic entrance!
Poor Danix. But also, good that he’s not eating Kendal anymore
Falst once again swoops in to save the day
There is a hidden depth to Falst which is easy to miss if you are not paying attention to him.
Wow, Dainix is REALLY striped with void now. Its not just where he is touching light anymore. And poor Falst, there is so much panic and desperation on his face in the third panel. I wonder if this is bringing back his memories of the last time someone he loved turned into a ‘monster’ and tried to kill him.
This reminds me of the flash pellets
Ooooo that’s probably partially what inspired him!
Aaand it’s Kendal looking epic with the sword, even in a swoon! No nomling the #1 bishonen of the comic, good sir firefloof, instead, have a shiny orb!
And Falst, tossing it like it’s the toss-lympics, after a splendid assist from Alinua!
I’m sure that now, he will need to take a break and ponder.
For mobile readers.

LMAO the Bluesky text actually got me so bad
can someone explain what is going on here
Sure! So, last page, a Void-influenced Dainix was trying to eat Kendal (the sword, possibly with Kendal the dude for dessert). On this page, his snack time is interrupted when Falst and Alinua, protected by Falst’s bubble lacrima, jump right through him, disrupting his form. They grab Kendal to keep him safe, and chuck another Wind lacrima at Dainix, this one carved with a spell that causes it to make a big omnidirectional gust of wind, or at least that appears to be the effect. We’ll see on Monday 🙂
Falst has two wind lacrimae; he took one from Erin’s bag and inscribed it with a ‘Bubble’ spell, he pried the other out of the helm and incribed it with a ‘Burst’ spell.
He and Alinua used the Bubble Lacrima to protect themselves from Dainix while approaching Kendal, and then used the Burst Lacrima to stun or temporarily disperse his Soulfire form. The goal is likely to retrieve or heal Kendal while Dainix is incapacitated.
ok so a lot of pages ago dainix turned into his fire monster form because michael was inhibiting his thoughts, he strikes michael michael defends with light fire transmutes light into void and void gets stuck on dainix a few pages go by and kendal manages to fend off michael after using starfire incidentally knocking himself out, kendal’s sword and bones are made of starmetal and void likes to eat stars so dainix was trying to eat kendal and now falst and alinua are trying to stop him
This is a genuine question. When did we learn that void likes to eat stars? Like I know Voids whole thing is consumption but I’ve heard multiple people mention that void likes to eat stars/starmetal *specifically* and was wondering where that info comes from cause I’m genuinely curious about it.
I apologize if I’m replying to this twice, I can’t tell if my messaged glitched and didn’t send or just if I can’t see it.

There was this page 1-7-9 and the explanation Red gave on tumblr on why the old crawler suddenly turned all its attention to Kendal
Wow, yeup I reread it. Can’t believe I forgot about that. The fight between the Primordials and the Void Dragon was literally to stop him from eating the sun. I’m a silly…
Reread nightmare and specifically Walter’s monologue.
thanks
There once was a boy with a sword
Whose life the fire ignored.
With an epic leap
His friends land in a heap
Their friend to protect and ward.
So is it just me or is this to the tune of wellerman???
It’s close, but the syllable count/pacing”s off.
I don’t understand how a wind blast will stop Dainix from just reforming.
I think it’s just to buy time so they can get Kendal to safety.
It was likely an attempt to stop him for a moment to have a breather and prevent sword eating for a bit. I suspect we’re about to get a “I know you’re in there (fight???)” from Falst and Dainix while Alinua heals Kendal. I doubt that Falst is actually going to fight Dainix he might just talk from inside the bubble shield or run around dodging flame attacks while trying to convince Dainix to stop. I’m pretty sure that Falst fighting back would make things worse so probably just dodging until Dainix stops or Dainix trying to restrain himself with Falst encouraging him. Soooo “I know you’re in there talk”
Yep, it’s here.
Either it disperses the flames and he has to fade or weaken, or he just gets more oxidizer to keep the fire going.
Wait, If Flast has light magic does that mean he can take care of the void in Dainix? Is that how it works?
I don’t think so. When the light dragon hit Dainix, it converted into void energy. I think VD is going to be needed to hit Dainix with something that he can convert into light energy
Hmmm… ok, let’s see if that happens!
I’d say hit him with void, but Erin’s gone
Falst’s strategy reminds me of when Dainix used the flash bang early in the fight against Michael, but with a burst-y wind lacrima instead. Nice going, Falst! I hope Alinua is able to heal Kendal within that narrow opportunity he made. And I hope, somehow, she and Falst are able to get through to Dainix and help him. If not… well, I wonder if Dainix will wind up separated and within the depths of Rakhn, somehow–in which case, I’d bet my bottom dollar that Falst will be hellbent on finding him.
I wonder what’s going to happen to the void in those flames. Going with the theory that his soulfire transmutes light to void and void to light, can he transmute it back? Or can he purge it somehow? He’d ejected and torched the glort stuff that had been shoved down his throat in the first arc, but that wasn’t void energy incorporated into his flames, that was a void-imbued substance… Hm.
reverse pokeball
Alinua and Falst leap over in the bubble
Which drives away the claws.
He hurls the other lacrima,
It explodes below the demon’s jaws.
TL;DR: EXPLODE THE FIRE!!
Also whew, finals are over.
In my defence, eepy
Also, this is hungry Boi prosecution, let a man eat >:(
Dainix to falst :Don’t you know it is really rude to throw bombs at someone when they’re TRYIN TO EAT!!!
OMG ITS JUST LIKE DAINIX’ FLASH BOMBS
Dainix:what’s the big idea!I was ’bout to devour a majestic 5 star meal here
That just launched a bunch of void into the water. I wonder if it dilutes in water or if it will fall to the bottom of the ocean like that. Either way, poor fish. I also wonder if this will impact the gigant chapter 4 sea monster. It’d be funny if the reason it becomes a threat is that a thread of void fell in it’s eye or something.
I don’t even remember what those balls were supposed to be anymore.
The wind lacrimas? They’re like big chunks of a type of crystal that can store elemental energy, and they can be wrapped or inscribed with runes to release that energy in the form of pre-prepared spells. Falst got the smaller, more angular one from Erin’s bag, and has it inscribed with a bubble spell. Then more recently he pried the larger, rounder one from the ship’s helm, where it was used to provide a constant tailwind to the sails, and repurposed it as a wind burst spell similar to his failed experiments in bubble-making.
If this works…
“All these researchers, you can’t cure a little void sickness? Falst did it with a piece of broken lacrima on a BURNING BOAT!”
“…I’m not Falst.”
“Are we done with the life-threatening disasters for today?”
“Haha, Hell no!”
