Wait, how do you mean he’s leaning on Void Dragon powers? His elemental magus status precedes his possession, and he hasn’t willingly used any void magic at all yet! Or do you just mean that that maybe he should be more careful about approaching the Singing Caves?
Please correct me if I am forgetting something important because I can’t remember Erin ever purposefully using the dragons power or implying that it’s something he is willing to consider.
Are you talking about the “I can’t risk heightened exposure to the Dragon” line? I think that might be referring to how the Dragon gets stronger with proximity to the Singing Caves, not Erin intending to use Dragon powers for anything. Or are you referring to a different thing?
I think you might’ve misunderstood what Erin’s saying here? He’s equivocating about going underground because he *doesn’t* want the Void Dragon’s powers to come to the forefront (which happens underground).
(reads alt-text) … As long as Alinua doesn’t go full Naruto Sharingan, I’m good.
Erin seems to think, or even known, that Falst’s ferin soul gives him greater protection form cave corruption like any other elemental corruption. Might help explain things with his origin story of why he and his father weren’t corrupted, and makes me feel a little safer for the gang; the thought of them encountering a cave corrupted ferin of any strain is terrifying.
Erin’s right to be cautious after V.D. took possession of him, and almost took out Alinua, during the Tynan fight, far from any of the caves. He’s also not certain how far Alinua is willing to go to stop him; I’d wager she’s be more hesitant in using force against him.
Now, is Alinua talking about her aura vision from Hilltop, or the tremor feeling she got waking up just now? If it’s the former, the fact neither of them are gods might make their auras too weak for her to see. If it’s the latter, there might not be enough vibrations from their footsteps alone for her to track, or even discern from the cave crawlers. (Whichever technique it is, it’s very pretty though)
I think it’s the latter, since the spiralling green glow from around her looks similar to both roots (indicating she might be extending that plant’s root system for greater sensing range), and the middle panel in 1.21.23 which is probably what she’s referring to.
“Hold up, let me tap into my **total awareness of all life and the interconnectedness of all living beings given to me in visions of a vast and inscrutable god of the tenacity of being Alive,** they should be somewhere in there”
I think you are overthinking it @Stark. To me they are both just interesting and flawed psychological profiles that might work in a story. The question is which profile would produce interesting possibility to the story character-wise.
Alunia has her charm as a unique character but I like most of Red’s character except the scummy evil one but even VD (sardonically called ‘Walter’ by some commentors in the thread here) has a shameless arrogance that is fun to watch now and again…
I assume she’s trying to do something similar to the accidental Kendal-sensing she did during the Falst arc, but even if she just does the thing she did last chapter of looking for movement underground she’ll probably get them closer to rescuing team Redhead.
Really, only the tremor sensing would work. Neither Dainix nor Falst are gods or anything adjacent (that we know of), and that’s what her accidental Kendal–sensing relied on.
Tahraim told Dainix he was a Crucible in 1.16.10 and so Dainix told Erin the same in 1.19.3. They need to call it something, and “Crucible” is just what they got.
I do have to ask: How many capes does Erin have in that bag? I know it’s a bag of holding but how many cape contingincies did he prepare for? Like ‘Alright, I now have 343 capes, but what if I meet a new person? Or two?! *Gasp* I need more capes!’
I think Erin might have more than one cape, but how the cape looks like has more to do with artist’s (Red’s) interpretation or inspiration rather then Erin’s choice.
For mobile readers.
Alt-text: someday I’ll run out of spooky magic things to do to people’s eyes. not today tho

First comment?
idk Australia wifi is wild
Loving the last panel! This whole comic has such an incredible art style and engaging plot
Love your work Red keep it up <3
Yeah our Aussie wifi is wild af.
I think you have found another fan of your art & storytelling, O clever and gifted drawer of fantastic tales Red. (smile)
It is really common, at least so to me
That only once posted the comments you see
The section seems empty, but “Post Comment” pressed
Leaves it full of comments that others expressed
I doubt that this has with the wifi to do
We simply must deal with it, and so do you
I welcome you, fan of Aurora, the tale
Hope to see you here among us on this trail
Poetically well done again, my friend! (smile warmly)
this part would have awesome mysterious synth music
My take would include strings and bagpipes, or something by John Williams (of Star Wars music fame) but heard Rock or Rap tunes that could work too.
I feel like Erin’s getting way too used to leaning on Void Dragon powers for someone who’s supposed to be trying to keep it contained…
One could say the same about Aluina with Life powers, but in that case, at least, there doesn’t appear to be anything approaching deliberate malice.

Whoops, ninja’d by a wild birb
Erin : Plotting how to get down there
Aliuna : *Grass type Pokemon intensifies*
this is a good comment
I just thought @Nua’s Pokemon fannish side was poking out a bit, Not to say we are not all fans (as short for ‘fanatic) here)! (smile sheepishly)

Alinua fulfilling my dreams of tapping into the mycorrhizal network.
“Hold up, let me tap into my **total awareness of all life and the interconnectedness of all living beings given to me in visions of a vast and inscrutable god of the tenacity of being Alive,** they should be somewhere in there”
this is fine
Any Tumblr users who read Aurora want do skew this poll? If 125 isn’t Tynan I’ll eat my hat.

… Do you know any of other dramatic storm gods who get stronger with fear and turn into dragons? Seems a bit too specific to be a coincidence.
Hmmm. Point taken!
There once was a little green shoot
Which had reached the caves via root.
Alinua’s power
Instead of a flower
Is searching for far better fruit.
Erin, frantically alternating between “That does not mean it has any basis on it happening in the waking world” and “It’s Life, it’ll probably work”
Alinua, can you stop being the MVP for FIVE MINUTES?
no, she is always the MVP
Alunia has her charm as a unique character but I like most of Red’s character except the scummy evil one but even VD (sardonically called ‘Walter’ by some commentors in the thread here) has a shameless arrogance that is fun to watch now and again…

I think it depends on how Primal Life’s sense works, which is something Red has not really explained to the audience yet I believe.
Was it named his “Crucible Form” before this or is Erin just a giant chuuni?
Tahraim told Dainix he was a Crucible in 1.16.10 and so Dainix told Erin the same in 1.19.3. They need to call it something, and “Crucible” is just what they got.
(sticks tongue in cheek) There might be some merit in the later statement too..
oooo pretty glow effect
that’s the only thing my brain cell can do rn I’m sorry
the bois are finally gonna get rescued!!

Learning new things is only Erin’s second priority. His first is making sure he looks ~fabulous~ at all times.
In panic, but no, there is a way
Just let me feel the vibe, if I may?
I wonder what Alvina’s reaction will be to seeing all of the cave corrupted people underground close by.
My first comment here since I have a question.
We’ve only seen Alinua use life magic for plant related magic, why does she never use animal related magic?
“Is she good?”
“Quite possibly the best.”
Panel 5 is so beautiful in a haunting sort of way. Love it!
There is lots of lovely artwork here!
TL;DR: Let’s try to do this WITHOUT getting closer to the dangerous magic dungeons.
This makes me wonder. Were magic eye powers a thing before anime needed unique character designs?
“I’m not sure if I can do this. I’ve only ever done it in my sleep.” XD
