Judging by how the crawler sort of stroked/slashed him and how the blood didn’t spurt out in a torrent, I’d say the wounds are likely only superficial, but they’ve probably muscle, explaining Falst’s momentary fatigue. Either way, it’s gotta hurt even if his organs are fine.
Ye his organs are mostly protected between the hip bone and the rib cage. The pain / boodloss might limit his movement and tire him out, should the equivalent of adrenaline wears off. But otherwise the risk is not acute. The bigger fear would be those sashes infecting him somehow, risking becoming a cave dweller too. Idk if it would work like that tho.
I don’t know if you can be infected with cave crawleritis but a general infection is definitely possible. The organs I would be most worried about would be the kidneys. They aren’t really protected by bone, and that’s around where Falst got injured. This is, of course, assuming that Ferins have a similar biology to humans. I’m not an expert in anatomy though, so here’s your complementary grain of salt.
Adrenaline is a powerful drug, as long as he has it in his system, well, I’ve heard of normal people lifting cars on that stuff. Imagine what Falst could do with his increased muscle mass and general durability.
Question unrelated to Aurora #2: How best to hide the body of a starfish from the starfish police
Aurora Question #61: Anyone mind explaining what happened last panel?
Already answered this one for Ryan, but: not that deep, although still very painful. Superficial muscle damage might make it a little hard to move and breathe, but he’s in no immediate danger of major organ damage or bleeding out (although the clock is now ticking).
His moment of weakness was likely due to the shock of the injury more than anything, and it’ll clearly slow him down, but it’s not a fatal wound. Dainix might end up carrying Falst out of here.
it isn’t too deep a few centimeters judging by the blood in the nails also it might have hit an artery so….. that probably caused the reaction and I have the suspicion of poison or cave bacteria which might explain why he actually felt it over the adrenalin. Either way, it isn’t a good idea for him to keep moving so much.
#2 I cannot help you friend, they already have their eyes on me.
#61 I think this arc is getting a bit too much for Falst, so my guess is he just unlocked a well of pimped up frustration and unresolved issues. He is now using that anger to DESTROY the crawler. Hopefully Dainix gets to him before he becomes completely uncontrollable. So, bottom line, trauma triggers are Falsts superpowered evil side.
#62 Quite deep, given that he actually backed off a bit from it. Especially if we consider how much adrenalin he is on, he wouldn’t even feel a shallow wound.
#2 depends, are the starfish police other starfish or echinodermologists? If other starfish just give it to an echinodermologist, the starfish cops will never get it back if they try. If echinodermologists are the cops, find the nearest taxidermist and have them stuff it in some mammal. They’ll never know.
#2: Contain it with sufficient oxygen and heat it until all that is left is carbon ash, CO2, water, and a few trace compounds. On dry land this is easy, but doable even underwater as long as you arrange things right. Then scatter the residue. The lack of bones should help with ensuring thorough combustion.
#61: At a guess, it looks like a fairly classic https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HeroicSecondWind kicking in because now one of them has managed to actually _hurt_ him. Or to put it another way: “S**t just got serious” (not as if it wasn’t before, but…)
@ Q.M. U.A. #2- I don’t know #61- Falst appears to have gone out of control fighting in color panels further down page color panel get smaller reveling black and white panels behind color panels implying backstory revealed in panels in black and white panels revealed behind color panels getting lower down page in greater detail as color panels get smaller. Unique webcomic page layout by Red I praise. #62 Enough to hurt Falst but not enough to stop him from fighting.
@ Q. M. revised reply U.A. 2-I don’t think like a starfish enough to come up with a response. # 61- Oh! last panel 1.21.17 Falst response to being staggered in panel 8-focus eyes on opponent and make rage sound. #82 deep enough to stagger him but not to stop him from acting by panel 10. (I think)
Fighters get a skill called second wind. You roll 1d10+fighter lvl as hp. You could say he’s decided not to die. Though given his laser focus he might be a barb. Could be a racial like the half orcs get.
By slashing Falst’s torso, his teammates can’t give him cooldown hugs without injuring him further. How fiendish!
I’m back everyone, well technically I’ve been back since last Friday but I’ve been caught up with other things so no time to comment. I had a lovely holiday, lots of walking, bird watching, bit of swimming in the cold cold Atlantic, good food and weather; what more can you ask for?
I have been following the roller coaster of Falst suffering though, both mental and physical. I do subscribe to the mom theory but there are still many unknowns about that theory to explore. Where was Falst’s dad in all this? What were they doing in the caves to begin with? Where are all these Ancient connections coming from?
Life, could you wrap up your dream convo with Alinua, give her the aura seeing dream power from Hilltop, and directed them to the boys? Because even if they manage to escape the Morlocks, Falst is in need of serous heals and Dainix can’t fight well in the dark on top of helping his wounded teammate. Or maybe some Ancient automatons might show up and start attacking the crawlers for hurting Falst. Because unless that door Dainix is directing them to is close to the exit, they’re going to need some outside help or another.
interesting ideas! but also, I was under the assumption that she could see and tell glecian and kendal there only because they were divine and that made them (kendal especially) appear as if they were beacons of light. if I’m correct about that, even if the dream seeing happens I don’t know if she’ll be able to see our boys. perhaps she can, however, due to the unique nature of Danix’s soul making him appear brighter in primordial vision. then again, they do desperately need medical attention- and red can’t kill them yet so they’ve got to get that somehow.
However, I too am ecstatic to discover any more of Falst’s backstory. can’t wait for friday 🙂
It occurs to me that none of these people are wearing anything that could be called “enough armor.” I get that travelling in armor is no fun, but with as often as they get kicked around you think they’d at least pick up some gambeson or a stout leather jacket.
I’m really worried that the mom theory will be correct, and that’s why Falst is going at the cave creatures so hard. I feel something bad is going to happen on Friday.
My headcannon response upon reading your post is if I was a Cyperpunk character equipped with a calmness programed chip would be to psychically fry said chip and act uncalmly, described humorously.
I like this page layout (1.21.17). Panel starts with smaller color with large white boarders going to full panels almost touching each out- implying focus returning to main story from 1.21.16 page layout. Another interesting page layout created by Red. (Chef’s kiss)
fun detail I just noticed today: falst is the only character with pupils, everybody else has either no irisis or their their irises do not have a pupil in them. also falsts pupil il shaped like a cat eye.
fun aurora eye detail #2: the floof gang has every eye color in the rainbow exept red.
Red – nobody(despite it being my name and favorite color)
Orange – Dainix
Yellow – Falst
Green – Alinua
Blue – Kendal
Purple – Erin
Now we just gotta wait for a 7th supernatural ultra special gifted unique fluffy person with red eyes to join the party and we’ll have te whole spectrum
tbh i cant believe they dont have red in here. not only is it a kick as color, but it is also my name as well as the name of the person who writes the comic
That is nooooot a good injury, oh dear. I wonder how deep it goes

why do comment sections on comics always have doctors rating peoples wounds and giving assessments?

For mobile readers.

We should have known from the moment he lost his shirt that something very dope but incredibly painful was coming
You make a very, very good point!

Oh and to make up for missing yesterday, Aurora Question #62: How deep do you think that slash injury is

2- well I mean you can’t put it in the ocean so drop it in a volcano ig
61- achievement unlocked: tragic backstory flashback powerup except no powerup
62- judging by the amount of blood, it’s not just a scratch
(now imagining Falst just like “tis but a scratch”)

longest way I’ve ever heard someone say “just burn the body”
The Munchies happened
I was under the impression that it had just twisted his broken arm, and the bone is potentially no longer lined up properly

A fatal blow to our dear Catboy’s chest
Causes his last trauma button to be pressed
Oh, those claws are sharp.
That looks life-threateningly bad. Fortunately, Falst looks mad enough to Beuwolf it’s arm right off.
I can hear Khonsu: “Break his windpipe!”
Some of that is below the ribs. Nnnnot good…
Also what good pacing, this fight goes here and there and back and forth, in an engaging way!
By slashing Falst’s torso, his teammates can’t give him cooldown hugs without injuring him further. How fiendish!

That is going to leave an epic scar
You know, I really like the bloody sound effects.
Ikr it’s sent a chill down my spine.
hey, those are some nice vitals you have. it would be a shame if someone were to…

I think this is the first time we’ve ever seen Falst scream.
Yeah I think it is, yikes
And what a scream it is! You can feel the pain and rage dripping from this page. I want to give him a hug.
TL;DR: Guy doesn’t know when to call it quits…
Or maybe he just doesn’t care.
…that was my last hit point…
BUT I HAVE RELENTLESS RAGE
Oh this gotta hurt.
I’m concerned for our catboy in multiple different ways now, yay
phhherfectly summarized yeah… oh dear.
Oh. This is fine, everything’s definitely fine
My headcannon response upon reading your post is if I was a Cyperpunk character equipped with a calmness programed chip would be to psychically fry said chip and act uncalmly, described humorously.
Oh no, the cave crawler unlocked Falst’s rage mode!
NOW will you accept a flippin’ Cure spell??
oh shit

fun aurora eye detail #3: erins eye color changes to match the colour of the magic he is casting, although while not casting spelst it is purple
I HC Falst’s screams like a mountain lion/puma/cougar/Florida panther.
So what you’re saying, Red, is that we should remember Reach?
